Most people expect binary to be super complicated just because it’s confusing, but it’s actually the exact opposite. Binary has to be super simple to be useful for what it does, and because it’s so simple it’s pretty hard to read quickly. When it comes down to it, it’s just a base 2 number system as opposed to the base 10 system we use in everyday life.

I think that people generally find it easier to understand something they know nothing about when it's explained by a beginner rather than an expert. The beginner has all the things that went over his head fresh in his mind, so he has a better understanding of what other beginners get hung up on.
So to be the best teacher, you need to have a deep understanding of your subject matter, as well as the ability to think like an absolute beginner.

System engineer here. I think the main bottleneck is gonna be the high latency / low throughput to request the items. Since:
    - Items are crafted immediately after all resources are just available, you're guaranteed to run out of one of them after crafting one item
    - Then the system need to request one piece of the missing resource while the crafter goes idle, and wait for that item to arrive
    - Then the next cycle: craft item, request missing, wait for resource to arrive, ...
    In CS terms, we can:
    1. High / low watermark to buffer resources and parallelize the steps of crafting and requesting
    2. Send a batch of items after one request to increase the throughput of the bottleneck (which is requesting items)
And since the entire request system runs on one shared bus, effectively airtime is shared between different crafters (and their requested resources), so maybe send more resources in a batch if an item is used more often (like sticks and dust for torches)
Oh man it's Factorio all over again... Must not succumb to the addiction...

The reason for the animals being attracted to that hill is because passive mobs in minecraft will always naturally pathfind up. They check the blocks around them based on a weighted scoring system, then once the block position is chosen its bumped up 1. Now look into how hexidecimal works. its amazing how greatly our lives have improved by this one simple thing

    • @KingBobXVI
      @KingBobXVI 11 дней назад

@@demonique7424 - it's easier when you realize all number systems (or "bases") work the same way!
      Like, you're familiar with numbers having a 1's place, a 10's place, a 100's place, etc. - We call that base 10, because there are 10 symbols (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9... and 0 - not 10!).
      For each value in a "place", you add x of that number times the place... so 473 is 4 "hundreds" + 7 "tens" + 3 "ones", or 400 + 70 + 3.
Now do the same thing but say you only have... 5 symbols, and you get base 5 - 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 means you'll have a 1's place, then a 5's place, then a 25's place, etc... Why 25? Well, the first place counts ones, then the next place represents 5 ones, and the next place represents 5 of the previous place... so 5 fives, which is 25. The next would be 5 25's, or 125.
      So in base 5... what's 2413? Well, it's 2 hundred-twenty-fives, 4 twenty-fives, 1 five, and 3 ones, or (2 * 125) + (4 * 25) + (1 * 5) + (3 * 1)... rather, putting it in an expression like this and calculating it converts from base 5, to base 10 like we're used to. (so it's 358 total in decimal).
Binary is just the logical extreme of this. What's the lowest base you can make without just counting sticks? Well, two options per digit, so base two! Two symbols means we get 0 and 1. So the ones place counts up to... 1, and we roll to the twos place which gets us all the way to... three (2 + 1), and just like with base 5 above, the next place is always the base times the previous one - so in base 2, it's 2x1 = 2 then, 2x2 = 4, then 2x4 = 8, then 2x8 = 16, 2x16 = 32, etc.
I don't know if that's remotely useful, I'm just rambling now, lol.
Funny thing actually, binary addition is actually very easy - think about it: if you do the "write one number above the others, add them, carry any extra over" method... the most actual math you ever do is 1 + 1... which is 10, or rather, 1 + 1 = 0, carry the 1 :P

I love how etho tango scar and bdubs are looking at each others builds, last bdubs episode also was that way, also scar was in ethos last episode looking at the storage system, i think in ethos episode before they all went looking at his moss farm, really love seeing these 4 hermits interacting with each other, imo the best hermits creatively, they come up with the most creative stuff and just have so much talent, also doc is probably my fifth favourite hermit he also always comes up with new ideas although he doesnt find most exploits himself its cool showcasing them, bdubs btw is my number 1, if you just look at that mans pure talent, the forest he built in his latest episode its just astonishing, etho a very close second, tango prob 3rd and scar fourth but they can change last season scar was maybe third but this season scar is taking it a bit slower, wich is totally fine ofc especially because of his health struggles. Love all hermits ofc

Tango has reached the impossibile. He slept before BDUBS! Seriously, for all hermits its just a competition to sleep before Bdubs. Binary? ''A small percentage of you don't know what binary means.'' (A small percentage = Tango) 😂 Tango never gets boring, and whenever i need cheering up, i just watch Tango!!! Also, when i first saw all that redstone, i felt a tiny bit dizzy. Every time Tango explains all his redstone knowledge, i only hear Tango say nonsense (Brain overload), as i don't even know how to pronounce the word 'comparitor'. I am honestly dumbfounded on all your redstone knowledge and how you manage to remember everything.

If you work with computers or just maths in general, it's useful to know how binary works as well as other number base systems, even though it's a little complicated to read offhand because we don't work in that base usually. Binary is base 2, we generally work in base 10, computers will often also use base 16 (also known as hexidecimal), which we usually represent with 0-F, you may have noticed that colours are often represented with #0000FF for example (F is 15 in base 10, and 1111 in binary, so FF is 255 in base 10, which would be 11111111 in binary). You may have also noticed that redstone signals work from 0-15, which is also hexidecimal! This means that if you can transmit a restrone signal at a specific strength over a distance, you would only need 2 restone lines to represent 255 different numbers, this is currently possible, though slow, with comparators chains.
Also, just for funsies, you can count to 35 on your fingers if you use base 6, count to 5 on one hand and use each finger to represent a 6 on the other, give it a go!
