I am using a tablet and really wanting something as good and powerful like this, not a fan of tablets but I feel is more a productive device than a media consumption device. Nice review, good to se Huawei doing great, liked as always ;)

Not my situation, I didn't have any Apple device and can't rely on my Internet services very much, so the Apple Ecosystem doesn't work at all for me coming from Android, I'm struggling to migrate things like WhatsApp on Android to iOS, also a lot of apps I use doesn't work on iOS, it's a very particular problem here (Venezuela), all my contacts are in Google Contacts and so on, it should be Android in order to have it easy, maybe even a Windows Tablet could work, but so far there are a lot of things I feel Apple does it in a way doesn't fits me.
Android will always be more flexible for users

Great review! A few suggestions. I would fadeout the background music when demoing the devices audio. Also I always like the screen type being mentioned OLED or IPS. Did the screen size look a little bigger compared to the 9.7 inch iPad or about the same? Great video. I like the content!
I can get it on sale here in Denmark. 1499 Dkk or only 230 $ - and the Ipad Pro 10.5 is 875$.... Tech isnt cheap here :) - but Huawei M5 will be the winner, when considering the pricetag. - Thanks for the review.

The tablet space has come a long way since the ASUS days. Software wise too. Good to see the improvement. It's a good contender to the S tab lines. Considering this or an S Tab. But I feel Samsung doesn't use the screen space as well as Huawei does. Thanks for the review.

Informative video, TK. You've helped me make my decision. I've had reservations about purchasing the Tab S4 and have been checking out other android devices. Everything seemed to be pointing to the M5, but, I couldn't quite decide whether to go with the smaller screen or this one. Around four years ago I bought the original 8.4 and 10.5 Samsung Galaxy Tab S. The smaller screen definitely had better resolution and was much sharper than its big brother. However, looking at your video (on my S8 plus), that screen looks fantastic. Once again, thanks for helping me make up my mind. Keep up the good work.

Very good review. Thx for that. I'm looking for a new tablet as my old Sony Z4's battery is about to die. Sadly I will say, as I'm very satisfied with that tablet and unfortunately Sony doesn't seem to put a new tablet out on the market. With the price / performance ratio this tablet seems to have, it looks like it's gonna be the best option for me. I use my tablet daily for watching YT and Netflix, read e-mail and do Internet browsing so I think this tablet will fit me well.

The problem with android tablet is most brands are still focusing on media consumption than productivity. I was skeptical to work with an ipad before but now, it makes my job whole lot easier (which android tablet can't do). The dock & split screen mode in ios are simply good for productivity (yes android tablets do have split screen but nothing like ipad)
the IPad pro definitely has a lot of features focused on productivity, and android offers similar features and what makes this tablet shines is the ability to connect it to a TV and get a desktop experience with keyboard and mouse. running multiple windows like a PC. it will surprise most user for sure
That's one very very reflective screen right there. Almost like a mirror. Will cause problems when front lit.

Hey TK, the review despite being against Ipad, was perfect for level entry, non silicon valley employee type so its appreciated! Can i ask if you know how to get hold of the keyboard, is it made by Huawei as its seems pretty much left out of every thing except their own advertising which doesn't tell you where to get the keyboard.

Nice video. I thought Android tablets are already dead. Good to see a nice tablet. The biggest problem of Android tablet is that they never get updates contrary to ipads.

Now imagine , actually it's not too much of stretch either ,if you pair this up with an honor 10 or a OP6 , total price would be around $900 USD , you get a powerful phone for portability and official business and when it comes down to relaxing or even on the go entertainment the M5 seems like a solid solution , if the M5 is capable of switching to a PC mode when connected to an external display like the mate 10 pro can it becomes a portable productivity centre .
exactly they are really giving us a great value for what this table can do
but i have not seen any advertisements for this tablet , so that indirectly means that people who know about this are people who watch youTube and have specifically searched for a budget priced , amazing tablet , will that refelct in the sales of this product ? especially because right now iPad is basically a monopoly in the tablet game and this is a very very tempting offer , (not that anyone who is deep in the apple ecosystem will buy this ), but for someone looking for a tablet , seeing an ad or two might persuade them to do some reading up and see the added benefits of this tablet , boosting the sales .
Yea they need to advertise it, I have not seen an ad for them in the US to date. wish they would do more to get people to know about them more.

OTG is supported but desktop mode is not supported here
It's a shame that the display is so reflective, IPS and doesn't support HDR.
Would have been the perfect tablet to me regardless of the price.

Great review, thanks. I am going to buy a tablet and my main concern is screen quality and weight, as I use it as a pdf reader. While white balance of M5 can be adjusted, I read in other reviews that even after doing this, there will still be a some blue tint on the screen, which will be very annoying for reading pdf files. Also those reviews say that contrast ratio of M5 is not great, again very important for pdf readers. Could you help me with this concern, and also let me know which of these tablets you recommend as pdf reader: M5, Tab S3, Ipad, or Asus Zenpad 3S. Thanks again.

on a tablet I would recommend android as it generally wont be as powerful as a regular pc and with android you will have a been a better experience for that format

The iPad has iOS, the best tablet operating system going, with an astonishing amount of apps. With Huawei - you’ve got Android. But you can’t argue with the price
Not all people like iOS. I certainly don't. It's way to simplistic and limited. Of course you may disagree but that doesn't change the fact I like this M5 much better.

How come the Huawei logo on ur M5 is landscape mode n mine is on portrait mode? Usually landscape mode is only on the 10.5in

nice review, worth a little clarification... the hardware for the 10" tablets are not totally identical, the non-pro version will not work with a wacom digitizer pen / stylus, so if you want that ability you will have to purchase the pro version. you may be able to use a capacitive pen with the non pro version.

It's good to know it streams 1080p video. However, you used a Netflix example. Netflix is like a black hole. Netflix don't give us a clear number. Its HD can mean 720p, not 1080p!
yea that is the issue, not only do they don't give the data. we cannot validate it on our end other than checking the HD symbol and the sometimes means 720 not 1080
According to Netflix, Huawei mediapad 8.4 gets 1080p resolution.

I have the mate Se phone which is amazing looking forward to getting this. Please mention about the amazing huawei share and very fast graphics as the mate se has same processor yeah it is faster than iPhone or sa!sing and phone is 249 no brainer tablet at 319 or 359 no brainer

The news is that tablets are dead because Google pulled all their tablets on their website so I don't think they'll be no more versions of Android OS on tablets
this surprisingly feels more like a big phone the EMUI is setup. Google might be just letting OEMs take over that function if they want to release a tablet.

Samsung has a oled panel and dolby athmos, whats is better? Galaxy tab s4 or huawei? How ar the black on the huawei when you whating netflix?
Movies are great. But oled will always look better
Samsung design it so you should use it in Portrait mode, when you watch a movie in Landscape mode your holding your hand over the speakers, the huawei is design for Landscape mode and the speakers are on the top and on the bottom, better for movies.

So Huawei was able to enable Hd Netflix with an OTA but OnePlus couldn't? Sounds fishy to me 🤔
seems that way on some versions of the tablet. I also think that wiht any device when it comes out it takes time to get compatibility on all apps out of the gate

Received one update since I have had it. So far ok. Not monthly but working on it.
It is tempting but I'm getting so pissed that tech companies are removing the phone jack. Just feels like they are trying to nickle and dime consumers to death and it just turns me off to the product(s)

Comes with a usb to headphone adapter, so you don't need a headphone jack
@@DoubleGauss 1) does that adapter allow for charging and listening in one go? If not, then it's crap 2) so I would then have an extra accessory that will inevitably break, get lost, or become obsolete just because they decided not to remove it from the phone. Seems dumb imo.
@@CrazyNights1015 you plug in the adapter only when listening to music, so you won't be able to listen to music through wired headphones and charge at the same time. I am guessing they did it to cut costs and/or weight as an audio adapter would require a separate interface card. Inconvenient for sure, but not a showstopper for me.

the M5 Pro has a pen, this is the standard model. the comparison is not intending to make it look better but to show good it is.
What networks is this compatible with? I wanted a Madiapad X1 or X2 sooooo bad... but they wouldn't work with any U.S. carriers. The only call capable tablet I've found to work on U.S. networks is an old Samsung with HORRIBLE specs.

No, this device is not LTE, it only supports WiFi Connectivity.

@@TKBay Could you provide an update on this? Seems like it was a hardware issue and not software? Mine is on the way and I'm returning the iPad 2018. I just can't come to terms with iOS and I already have invested in Android.
Also, I think it kinda sucks there aren't many options for keyboard cases from companies like Logitech. That's one thing I really liked about my iPad and Keyboard Case combo - it's quite spectacular.
So after the update connectivity is ok, when using a BT headset and connecting To wifi, have not tested to see if wifi is getting worst but I imagine a BT keyboard should be ok.

dear TK good morning, my comment is not related to this video but as it is a new video so best chance is ,you will read. dear i have rooted and flashed honor 9 lite with lineage os 15.1 unofficial.the gapps for some reason were not working and hanging so i am now stuck , i cannot find any honor 9 lite stock rom on internet , and i dont know how to flash emui on huawei devices. need your help.please.....
I don't have the 9 lite, but I would recommend checking out checking out the Funkyhuawei site for restoring your phone to stock. I made a video for them and they should have a way to help you

Can you still get the m5 pro pen and keyboard even though you have the normal m5 10.8
the keyboard yes the pen seems to be something you get with the tablet
the pen will only work with the pro version. the non pro version doesn't have the wacom style digitizer layer in the display, which gives the pro version pressure sensitivity. you may be able to purchase a basic capacitive pen to use with it.

What there is no iPad In 9.5 you said 9.5 did you mean the 9.7 pro 2017 or the 10.5 pro because It’s the iPad mini at 7.9 then it goes 9.7 pro 2017 model, the 9.7 2018 model, 10.5 pro, 11 pro with no home button, 12.9 pro with no home button and 12.9 pro with home button 2015 model so you must of meant to say 10.5 or I must be wrong and you meant 9.7. I don’t know all I know is there is no 9.5 inch model I watch iPad videos all the time and I do research on them too. I have the 9.7 inch 2018 model from black Friday thanksgiving. My laptop broke and I could not get a laptop with good specs in 300 dollars but for an iPad I could so that’s why got an iPad I am using an iPad right now over a laptop but I am saving for a laptop.

no but you can hear that even with compression the the M5 sounds almost as good as the IPAD

Nope. I have a TV at home. I have a desktop at home. I bring my tab when I travel. I have no intention of blasting my speaker and annoying the guy seated next to me. Definately will pass. Seems like Ipad is the only option. Some of these android tab(Samsung tab S3) is at Ipad Pro price. Nope. They are nowhere as good as an Ipad. If you are thinking... I am an android user.
