Hahaha. A good one. Practicality means different things to different people, depending on style of riding, usage and what they enjoy. So choices will definitely differ.
The "x-factor" feel is so real. My dad bought Bajaj Discover back in 2005, he stopped riding long back due to age and health factors, and now I'm the one using it. I'm not a pro tourer and I had been using that bike only for city commute. I have borrowed RE bikes from my friends and have done small touring occasionally. It's been 15 years now and though sometimes I feel like upgrading my bike to higher cc engine, maybe a tourer kind of, but a part of me don't want to change and still want to keep riding the old Discover. It's a bond between you and your bike that you can't put it in words but only feel it.. love this video btw.. 😃
Would love to share something similar. So my dad had his super splendor 125cc and it was the family commuter for the last 15 years. As i grew older i got the hang of it, and if you're from a middle-class family and if you have learned to ride a bike in a super splendor, trust me you can ride any bike under the 500cc segment. So as I was a teen, who had no responsibilities and was just like a fire, i used to take my dad's splendor out for frequent rides. I had no money and had friends with a better bike but the splendor never in any way disappointed me, it gave me full reliability and was a spot on. My friend's pulsar would suffer in fuel economy but my splendor with just a liter of petrol could still go more than 35 kilometers. It's been 1 year since my dad sold that bike and got fz150 v3. Although the bike has a lot more power compared to the splendor, i still miss that old machine. The bond I had with it, I just can't forget.
Even I have started to think of getting Xpulse as my second bike after you revealed this purchase decision. I think Hero India should put this video as their marketing collateral. Your narration is much more convincing.
Rightly said... after 2 years of riding I realised that “it’s almost never about the bike, it’s always about the ride”. Bike is just part of the ride not the heart of it ! - Safe miles and happy memories TFT. Cheers

Well said TFT!! Motorcycling experience is amplified by the two X factors "Reliability & Repairability". Having owned a UCE electra I'll be honest, its a decent machine, have taken it across the country. BUT royal Enfield needs to put their "legacy" thought process behind and give consumers something as reliable as thier name. All that said though, Hero was the obvious better choice. Happy miles TFT 🙏
Thank you for this video. Coming from an RE, i can totally understand the need for reliability and that as one of the driving factors behind this purchase. I believe that form factor will give you the confidence to take up more challenging terrain with relative ease and in the process let you discover more about yourself. True to your words, never considered the prospect of owning, let alone considering Xpulse as my potential next bike, but I might, in the near future, :). Ride safe, peace.
All future riders, please take his words seriously. A reliable, light weight, inexpensive motorcycle is better for long distance riding, as the overall experience of touring is good.
Many of the riders have been bashing RE for their machines since 2010 including myself.. but they have turned a deaf ear to all their problems just for the sake of profits...
You talk so sensible and clearly proved that its not about only the bike but it's all about the relation and affection that builds over between you and a bike. I own a Himalayan now. I am not sure why I bought it but when I did a test ride, I really fell in love with the feel of the bike. But so many my friends teased me buying a Himalayan and suggested I should have bought 390 adventure. But when I tested riding it, it didn't give me that same feel that Himalayan did. I also know that RE has some reliability issues but still it's all about you falling in love with the bike the first time you sit on the bike. I even tested XPulse, it was also a wonderful machine which can fulfill my style and dream of motorcycling desires but for me I could stretch my budget to some more extent, so I bought Himalayan. So for everyone, who are going to buy buy a bike for off roading, go with X Pulse. Do not forcefully stretch your budget to buy bigger ones like, RE, KTM, BMW etc. It's all about the ride and a rider rather than a riding machine. And for you bro.., your videos will really got a magic..!! Your voice and the way you use to talk sensibly is really soothing to ears... And your videos really have a great music and visuals which really suits with the situation and the place you ride.. You will grow bigger bro... ATB!! ❤❤
Right decision bro. I am owning hero xtreme for the last 7 years. I have done lots of km on my xtreme either it long distance touring or city commuting i never faced any reliablitity issue on this.. Yes there are few challenges but its manageable. I have done nepal muktinath on my xtreme which you have done on your tb 500.
Its all a part of maturing with experience my friend. I've been down the same path with cameras (hobby photographer). Got the full frames and the big 2.8 zoom and fast primes. But my most cherished images came with smaller apsc bodies which is what I now use and keep pushing them. Havent reached the limit yet. I'm a big believer of the fact that less is actually a whole lot more. Loved the video and thought process.
Bro, you are awesome person and a true biker. In this age of show off and what not as so called bikers (You Tubers) I found your channel and I am just glued to it.
I have done extensive riding on my RE and then bought a KTM adv 390. Sold the KTM because it was not my type. Thinking about xpulse for the reasons you have mentioned, hopefully will get one in few weeks. Just watching your videos after searching for xpulse. Keep up the good work, I resonate with you on most things you say.
Well we are in India, so I'm guessing 10/10 there are snakes there 🤭 I agree with you on going for the xpulse. A simple bike is the best choice and with your experience of working on the RE, I am sure you will be able to take care of most issues by yourself. I always take my old carbuerated unicorn over my dominar on solo trips just because it is such a basic bike, that nothing can go wrong on it. 70k kms over and the worst problem I've faced was powerloss while climbing kodaikanal due to clogged up air filter. Problem solved in 5 mins by removing it😂.
Worst problem I have faced on a unicorn- chain fell off during a minor accident. Fixed it with the basic tool kit. And it worked fine for about 300kms and fell off.
Hello crusoe...how is the unicorn bike?? Should i buy the new unicorn 160?? I want to upgrade from my tvs victor 110cc bike. Plz tell ur experience with the unicorn...
Hey namesake bro (I'm Rohit too), these were exactly the same thoughts which ran through my mind before upgrading (downgrading for some) from KTM390 Duke to Xpulse 200 BS6. Your English and tone is quite good. Keep up the good work.
"That X Factor" - That is the point. You ride it and you know that the bike will make you happy and you know you want to own it. :-) . "End of the day , it is the bond between you and your bike".
Very sensible !!! In the world now a days every is crazy about buying heavier and faster motorcycle . But this man is on another level ... Sir I am very much inspired from you ! Thank you for making this video. ❤️👍
When you review kindly cover the seat comforts on long rides and night ride with stock HL This are one of the major issues people want to know the answers
I owned a Hero splendor pro back in 2013 on this day sep17(my birthday) which was my childhood crush and I thought that would be my first bike. Now I understood why I'm so obsessed with that bike was that reliability.. though I own a classic signals today, I still awe of my first crush with splendor... Today I see another Hero corp product through you which remained of same Josh. Thanks for the awe moments again... Wish you good luck.
Just one random thought came in my mind, as you said there was something magical when you sat on that machine , i would request you to name her " MAYA" which means magical...
I would have topped the class of this guy was my professor. I myself have been using impulse since 2012, as crazy as it may sound it has never given me any trouble. It’s still my ride and trip companion. I am checking out xpulse reviews now as I am soon switching to xpulse, I hope the regular chassis will be as practical as the younger brother imp. Ride safe , I am a new sub now.... cheers from Nagaland
Truely said, the X factor is required to have a connect with our machine. Then only one would love to ride his / her machine and enjoy. Again, good narration, right words putting in right sequence and right direction. 👍
I saw this ONE video from your channel, and I instantly subscribed. I have a feeling good things are coming; this is the most sensible, level-headed, realistic mini-review of the Xpulse I've seen so far. I've been suffering with the ride quality of my AS200 on broken Calcutta roads for years now. While the performance (for the money) is commendable, what's the point of a quick-ish bike if I can't live with it? The Xpulse is a rather tempting way out of my misery.
Glad to have you here. Thank you for subscribing. True that. Practicality is always key and depends on the way in which we each use our motorcycles and what we can afford too.
Very rare and out of the box thought process about choosing a bike and this is an eye Opening review and decision. I was owning a classic 350 and had same kind of experience when i had to spent lot of money during 6 years of ownership. I had to sell it last year and planning for new bike.
Great video. All you ever needed was a light motorcycle , cruise speed of 90-110 km and the all terrain conquering tyre of 21 inch front. Now I can't wait for another Chennai to Kolkata road trip. Love and regards from South Africa🇿🇦
I would say that reliability aspect is so bang on. If you are someone who tours extensively on your motorcycle and not always on smooth flat roads, reliability is the single most important factor. I remember when I rode to Ladakh, everyone recommended me to just hire a Himalayan or a Classic 350 rather than riding my own motorcycle. I had my doubts on the reliability of the REs and stuck to my guns while my friends all followed the herd. As it turns out, their REs failed every single day, be it mechanical failure or electrical issues. We would spend hours everyday just fixing the motorcycles rather than enjoying the ride. And it wasn't just their REs, everyone else as well. I myself helped 3 strangers with their motorcycles, stranded in the middle of nowhere, all of them riding the REs. Everytime someone says that RE has improved the reliability of their motorcycles, I have one question. How much distance have these newer models covered to even judge their reliability. And improvement doesn't mean they are bullet proof now
Watching your video for the first time and I can surely tell that you connect. I think you are going to be huge success. Lots of love and adventure ahead.
Always a pleasure watching your videos. I almost bought the X-Pulse 200 before opting for the KTM 390 Adventure. Probably that falls into the "reliable" category with all that electronics. Did a 740 km ride on it from Hyderabad to Mumbai in 12 hours. But the XPulse 200 always felt like a good option for touring. Will follow your updates keenly. Happy riding !!
I had actually booked this bike way back in December 2019 but put it on hold...and then covid happened and it just got delayed...this video convinced me to get the bike...I currently own an interceptor...but like you said...I too felt some kinda connect with this bike which was why I booked it on spot...heh.. Cheers man. Big fan. 😄

Thanks for sharing a such an informative thought process while zeroing in on next motorcycle. This could only come from so much experience and saddle time. You could have easily turned this into a RE dissing episode but you kept it classy and it indeed shows you are a gentleman. Respect❤️ Own the same colour and June 2020 make by the way 😀
Thank you. It's never been about dissing something else. I just wanted to share my perspective of the things I was looking at when making this choice. Also, glad to know someone else chose this colour. From what I hear it;s less popular than the other colour options. I love it though.
@@TollFreeTraveller less popular hence unique too. Very hard to get one because dealers don't stock up due to low demand. I had to buy from a dealer two districts away. Also heads up for first service, that have to open the engine side casing to clean oil filter. Some service centers don't have the paper packing in stock to replace and try to skip the whole process. So make sure they have stock before u take your bike.
This video was short yet made so much sense. Very very rightly said. I am planning to buy xpulse and been reading a lot of reviews and watching videos but this gave a whole different perspective. Thank you for making this :)
Love the way you speak, insanely good. As for the why the bike, your reason is totally on point, makes no sense to spend 15-20L on a bike that stays in service center for months when you drop it anywhere. A cheaper and reliable bike is the way to go, you know when things break it won't bite you much.
Thank you. I think it totally depends on what one can afford. There is no denying that some of the bigger bikes are incredible machines. Some people do a lot of justice to them, and I have immense respect for those people and their skills.
Already rode 1200+ kms within two weeks of delivery of my Xpulse 200...!☺️ Just lovin it... The off-road performance & the affordability is the key for me... I'm pretty sure Xpulse will get into every nook & corner of our Mighty Bharat...
Practicality, Affordability and Reliability...you just discussed were truely the most important factors for ones who choose their riding machines... Very well justified for yours going over with xpulse.
How beautifully have you explained all of the aspects that people don't really talk about . 😍😍😍 Absolutely loving your content. 👌👌 New subscriber here!! 😁
Simple Sophisticated Straightforward First of all, Many congratulations on completing 4 years of your Toll Free Traveller. I just had a test ride of Xpulse 200 last Sunday, I was little undecided whether to go for this bike or not as this would be my first bike of life. But as said you had a X factor when you've ridden it, so same kinda feeling I have experienced after the test ride, even I haven't slept that night. So after listening to you today, I am definitely going to own this and explore my bond with it. Thank you so much and from now on You will be my mentor. Stay Blessed Brother :)
I get where you are coming from. I just sold a motorcycle I rode for eight years. Change can be a good thing, especially when it comes to riding, the same roads on a different motorcycle are, well, different.
Dude, with the sincerity that u speak it challenges the thought of what do we actually want from our machines. Kudos to you. Don't loosethe originality within you.
What you have selected, is really crucial decision s in todays society, fullfilling a dream in a budget, hoping to see more videos on your journeys and also small mods to make the bike better❤️
I followed similar thought process like yours and bought a used motorcycle (DR650). Like xpulse/himalayan it has 5 speed, single cylinder, spoked wheels, 168kg curb. Within 2 weeks of watching YT was able to change fuel tank, sprockets, both tires, handlebars, lighting, carburettor. That's how easy it is to fix. And it cost so much less for a used one.
Couldn't agree more as I had a Classic 350 and all trips had a feeling it would break down and have had to spend inspite of regular service...sold and moved to 2019 Dominor...and you are bang on with hero...still love my 2001 splendor which is at home and always brings a smile when I ride that back in Chennai... have fun bro and stay safe...

Ameya Bakre well said bro..
True.....
@@ameyabakre4609 that's because of ex fanboys like me I ignored all the cons of royal Enfield biie and still bought one and totally regret it.
Just 3 minutes into the video... i m convinced of a sincere review...but more a honest person... !!
Just 10 min ago I was thinking about you and your video and here we are
Hope you enjoyed the watch
@@TollFreeTraveller It's always a pleasure to watch your videos
Wow...
Oh wow. I would love to ride in Nepal on this bike. Fingers crossed
Bro neenga vera level.... You started a trend of 'True Riding' among those squids. Hopefully, they too soon learn from your videos
I am constantly amazed by how easy it is to watch your videos and at the same time be entertained by them. Cheers mate!!
Thank you!!
Just as the wand chooses it's master, a bike also chooses it's rider.
I am waiting to feel that X factor day.
That's a good way to put it!
Does a wand choose its master for real? 😄
@@yyathy Well, wait till you visit diagon alley for the first time.

Bro, you are awesome person and a true biker. In this age of show off and what not as so called bikers (You Tubers) I found your channel and I am just glued to it.
Good choice Rohit! Looking forward for your rides on this new beast ❤️
Thank you
In the year 2006 I bought Hero Honda CD Dawn with same thing in mind which you mention. Since then I have ride around 1lakh km on it.
Wow. That's massive!
Yaayyy!!! We’re nearing 100K!! Totally unrelated with the topic of the video, I know, but just noticed, and am elated!!!!
Hahaha. Thank you so much. We're crawling closer everyday :D
😂😂
😂😂 Probably you should go for Hornet now. I know it has a bit more gizmos but should be reliable enough, or may be Xpulse!
Hey Crusoe like the name 👍. First book I ever read. May be why I'm a sailor 😂
Cheers. Hope you're enjoying your new ride
"That X Factor" - That is the point. You ride it and you know that the bike will make you happy and you know you want to own it. :-) . "End of the day , it is the bond between you and your bike".
Absolutely
Very sensible !!! In the world now a days every is crazy about buying heavier and faster motorcycle . But this man is on another level ... Sir I am very much inspired from you ! Thank you for making this video. ❤️👍
When you review kindly cover the seat comforts on long rides and night ride with stock HL
This are one of the major issues people want to know the answers
I owned a Hero splendor pro back in 2013 on this day sep17(my birthday) which was my childhood crush and I thought that would be my first bike. Now I understood why I'm so obsessed with that bike was that reliability.. though I own a classic signals today, I still awe of my first crush with splendor... Today I see another Hero corp product through you which remained of same Josh. Thanks for the awe moments again... Wish you good luck.
Thank you and wish you many safe miles with your beast
Hero stock just went up 20 percent
😂😂😂
😂😂
Lol
Watching your videos for years now.
Love your words.
They are so very clear unbiased and on point.
Keep it up Brother.
You have my support always ❤️
Thanks a lot. I appreciate that
Just one random thought came in my mind, as you said there was something magical when you sat on that machine , i would request you to name her " MAYA" which means magical...
Thank you. It's a lovely name suggestion. I have a friend who has already named his bike that, so will need to think of something original for mine :D
Ok..bro I didn't know abt that..✌️✌️
Junaid Bhai will give him a copyright strike if he names the machine MAYA 😅😅😅
Just kidding
I would have topped the class of this guy was my professor. I myself have been using impulse since 2012, as crazy as it may sound it has never given me any trouble. It’s still my ride and trip companion. I am checking out xpulse reviews now as I am soon switching to xpulse, I hope the regular chassis will be as practical as the younger brother imp. Ride safe , I am a new sub now.... cheers from Nagaland
Xpulse is definitely a smart decision. Can't wait for travelogues on it
Thank you
Truely said, the X factor is required to have a connect with our machine. Then only one would love to ride his / her machine and enjoy. Again, good narration, right words putting in right sequence and right direction. 👍
X-factor = X-pulse 💕
True that
your explanation is just so calming. Love your videos.
Even though am owning a royal Enfield today still i miss my pulsar 150 .... On my experience pulsar is a way better than re
I owned a Pulsar 180 Dts-i. Really loved that bike
@@TollFreeTraveller wow 🙌 Rohit .. i thought may be am the only one who loved pulsars more than the new gen bikes
I saw pulsar is more reliable in terrain like laddakh...
This was very very helpful. Thank you so much, this help me decide to book the xpulse as my first bike :)
Shout out to art of motorcycle (Junaid)
And old power drift (sagar sheldkar)
Legends, both
I saw this ONE video from your channel, and I instantly subscribed.
Literally,First RUclips video that I'm seeing with 9 dislike😂😂❤️
Thats the 'X' factor of RE fan boys
@@parivelmurugesan7016 haha
Very rare and out of the box thought process about choosing a bike and this is an eye Opening review and decision. I was owning a classic 350 and had same kind of experience when i had to spent lot of money during 6 years of ownership. I had to sell it last year and planning for new bike.
Thank you for watching and this comment.
I recall all the time...
"We have different summers, through out the year"
Yes xpulse is reliable!!
Hahaha. Chennai wisdom :D
I like your attitude towards the change practicality, reliability and mainly affordability. Especially the new experience in to riding a tourer.
Great video. All you ever needed was a light motorcycle , cruise speed of 90-110 km and the all terrain conquering tyre of 21 inch front. Now I can't wait for another Chennai to Kolkata road trip. Love and regards from South Africa🇿🇦
Subtle and accurate way of explaining about the purchase and too good the way you put it across :)
I just rode the KTM Adventure 390. It's a lovely lovely machine and can really gobble up the miles on the highway. Hope you're having fun with it.
Excellent discussion about motorcycle reliability. I support your conclusion and can’t wait to see your future adventures.
Thank you. It's always lovely to hear that kind of feedback
I had actually booked this bike way back in December 2019 but put it on hold...and then covid happened and it just got delayed...this video convinced me to get the bike...I currently own an interceptor...but like you said...I too felt some kinda connect with this bike which was why I booked it on spot...heh.. Cheers man. Big fan. 😄
One of best channel deals in Motorcycle travel but heavily under subscribed!!
You always make so much sense and that too with so much calm. Unlike others who keep jumping on the viewers, you talk to the viewers and make us feel that we are part of the discussion. I miss your riding vedios. And please share your experience with the xpuls soon. And once again congratulations.
Thank you. Waiting for the situation to get better before I set off anywhere again. Looking forward to whatever lies ahead.
@@TollFreeTraveller Just want to add one more thing as to why I eagerly wait for your vlog. Your vlogs seems like narration of your experiences and that too in a calm and composed way. The way you shoot your vlogs and then narrate your experiences...it's all magical. I am your fan man. Hope everything get well soon and we see you on the road again. Till then keep it up brother
Thanks for sharing a such an informative thought process while zeroing in on next motorcycle. This could only come from so much experience and saddle time. You could have easily turned this into a RE dissing episode but you kept it classy and it indeed shows you are a gentleman. Respect❤️
Own the same colour and June 2020 make by the way 😀
There can't be anyone else putting this so elegantly!❤️ So much love TFT!
Thank you!
Some people do a lot of justice to them, and I have immense respect for those people and their skills.
you're one chill/sensible guy. hope to see more adventures of yours..
Already rode 1200+ kms within two weeks of delivery of my Xpulse 200...!☺️
Just lovin it...
The off-road performance & the affordability is the key for me...
I'm pretty sure Xpulse will get into every nook & corner of our Mighty Bharat...
How it's going sir ?
35+ k kms & still going strong...
Finally someone in RUclips had good sense...What I wanted I got it...
Thanks bro...
Practicality, Affordability and Reliability...you just discussed were truely the most important factors for ones who choose their riding machines... Very well justified for yours going over with xpulse.
How beautifully have you explained all of the aspects that people don't really talk about . 😍😍😍
Absolutely loving your content. 👌👌

First of all, Many congratulations on completing 4 years of your Toll Free Traveller.
True that. Doing the same thing on a different motorcycle can be a completely different experience. Thanks for this comment.
I was confused.... I have got my answer now:-) After riding Classic 350 for 5+ years...... This is the game changer....! Thank you, Rohit
The comment about RE was spot on . I transitioned from thunderbird to ktm adventure 390 particularly for the reliability factor .
I've heard a lot of good things about the 390 Adv. I'm sure you're having a great time with it
I really like ur factors to chose this bike.. watching u is always worth !!
I am ordering my first bike(x pulse tomorrow), just based this video. I can afford a RE Interceptor.
But i do not want to experiment my first bike experince with that much of cost.
Thanks for the video.
X pulse just feels matches the real hidden soul.
Well said, " I have set a trend hopefully " rightly said.
Sir, you are the first motovlogger I watched and subscribed..
You are my inspiration for motorcycling, when I watched your RE TB, even I got one, albeit a lower but newer version of TB i.e. TB 350X. actually I wanted your model but it was not available and the RE folks at my place told me that the model is discontinued ☹️.
Yes, I think my next bike will be x pulse..👍
