- DC Animation has consistently been a beloved medium for adapting classic DC Comics stories. Series such as Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League Unlimited, Teen Titans, Young Justice, and Batman Beyond have emerged as some of the most popular DC cartoons. However, as time has passed, there seems to be a noticeable decline in the overall quality of DC Animation. The current DC Animated Movie Universe, known as the TomorrowVerse, is expected to conclude with the Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths trilogy in 2024. Inspired by DC Comics source material, this trilogy will feature a wide array of characters from the DCU multiverse, including Batman, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and many more. The closure of this universe is likely due to the emergence of James Gunn's DCU and its highly interconnected nature, marking a departure from the structure of the DCEU. There are a plethora of DC Comics stories that have yet to be adapted like Batman Knightfall, Kingdom Come, and Wonder Woman Hiketeia.

The reason why the DCAMU (both the Warverse or the Tomorrowverse) both ended so soon was because Warner Bros forced the animation team to limit their movies. With the Warverse limited to 16 movies and the Tomorrowverse 10.

Instead of a live action DCAU we got the Depressed Clinically Extended Universe. I never got the hype of the Snyderverse it was boring. I fell asleep during most of the films. DC deserves better than the Edgelord.
We need more WONDER WOMAN adaptations. Give me that entire Maxwell Lord arc not like that wonder woman 1987 garbage. That entire arc in the comic of maxwell lord being an A1 instigator. i need that payoff when she decides to kill maxwell lord at the end. I NEED THAT.
Another one they could also do is when The amazons declare war on mankind which ends up in diana choosing humanity over them and their old ways, she even straight up gives up her title of an amazon and is banished from entering paradise island

I just want the origin of Kyle Rayner's Green Lantern when Hal became evil or the 'Speeding Bullets' elseworld story where, Clark is raised by the Waynes instead of the Kents.
Beware my power completely butchered Kyle’s origin and spat on John Stewart’s history so I really, really hope dc one day does emerald twilight and rebirth.

Some DC animated movies I'd love to see are a New Gods movie, a Green Lantern movie that adapts the Sinestro Corps War arc, and Superman Smashes the Klan
I would rather see a movie where the Green Lantern Corps fight the Red Lanterns or a movie where The Flash is trapped in Gorilla City for the entire movie.
A new gods movie (or a mister miracle movie) would go hard, especially if they stay close to Kirby's visuals.

I have a few comic adaptation ideas:
#1: The anthology series =
Since they are DC's tentpole characters, Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman each deserve separate anthology series
based on the colour anthology comics:
Batman: Black & White
Superman: Red & Blue
Wonder Woman: Black & Gold
Structure: Similar to Love, Death - Robots, each episode is disconnected and focuses on what makes these heroes who they are (e.g. Superman having dinner with his mom while reflecting on his Smallville roots)
Goal: To remind people why these characters should be looked up to as legends, while setting up their joint collaboration in...
#2: A Trinity movie =
Adapting the DC Rebirth Trinity comics, this movie can focus on the trinity helping each other fight against their respective arch nemeses (Cheetah, Joker, Lex Luthor) as Mongul attempts to surpass Darkseid by targeting Earth's premier defenders: Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.
I always viewed the original animated movies as a shared universe that the events happen in but arent directly tied to each other
Kingdom Come with an Arcane-like aesthetic would be bunkers
Nightfall if it actually happens needs to be a 3 to 4 part story with how long the story is
I would say that the proper way to do it is in a one season show, actually that can be say for a lot of the ideas above, just get all the episodes you need to properly tell the story and ended, we live in the streaming era, no need to short a good story to adapt it to a film lenght (or a few) and no need to wait months or years until the next film, just get a one season shoe telling a story from begining to end

After seeing that Kamandi Showcase short, I would love to see more of that character. I love how the animal people see Superman as a godlike figure and Kamandi knowing about Superman and the quest to find him and possibly fix the world.

If you do, please do a part 2 to this. Like you said there are so many comics that can be adapted into a movie or show, and I'd love to hear your take on them. One that I personally would love to see adapted is Geoff Johns run on Teen Titans. I grew up on that story and hold it near and dear to my heart.

I agree but I also believe they need to make these adaptations impactful while taking their time developing each up coming story like JLU but also introduce characters that feel natural instead of them being their in the background/have their characters rushed and do very little like the DCAMU.
I'd also like to see how characters go through personal consequences and how it effects them not just in the movie but future movies as well.
I also agree that we need to see the Hekatea story because as much as I love Batman most of the times he's just to OP especially when you got certain fans believing Batman is unstoppable because prep time and plot armor.
Blackest Night animated adaptation would be visually striking. I would also like to see an animated Flash movie inspired off the new 52 where he meets his future self.
The flash new 52 series is severely underrated. It definitely needs to be talked about.

Something I’d really like to see is an animated Wonder Woman movie with Grail (the daughter of Darkseid) as the antagonist, because I feel there’s a lot more that they could have done with her than they did in all of her appearances combined.
She was born at the same as Diana was, something I found interesting, but it was ultimately just a fun fact and didn’t really matter. And she didn’t really seem to have much of a relationship (I mean something like rivalry) with Diana as I would have wanted her to. Apparently her and her mother were the first Amazons to leave the island, which is why nobody knew she existed, but what if for the animated movie it was changed to where she was imprisoned at birth because the other Amazons feared the prophecy that spoke of how she would cause untold destruction when she grew?
Now with that part of her origin changed, imagine Diana learns of Grail’s existence and, being the kind and caring person she is, frees her and unknowingly helps to fulfill the prophecy. Grail might have resentment toward her father for never coming to free her, and would then try to kill not only the Amazons but Darkseid as well. During her personal war, cities would be caught in the crossfire and Wonder Woman (maybe with help from some other heroes) would be forced to stop her.

The problem with Tim drake fans is yall get to much love, he’s a grown man still dressing up like Robin he needs to go back to Red Robin and let Damien have that mantle completely, no one ever took the shine from him🤦🏾♂️ real Dc fans know this
In the world of comics before the New 52 yes but even before the New 52 and certainly after, the character has been short changed. The New Batman Adventures' Tim Drake just didn't feel like Tim Drake, and he was for all intensive purposes Jason Todd. Cocky, arrogant, tough as nails, Dad was killed by Two-Face, street kid, and tortured by The Joker.
And this carried over to the Arkhamverse Tim Drake who on top of looking like Eminem, also felt more like Jason Todd, compounded by the fact that that version of the character did cage fighting on side, which wasn't a Jason Todd thing, but definitely feels like one. His weird romance with Barbara also didn't help things, a creative decision done because Rocksteady didn't research which Robin Barbara dated.
Then The New 52 relegated him to a background who only does computer stuff, and it didn't help that the new origin not only meant that he was never Robin but also made him look stupid. When New 52 came out, it was heavily pushed and marketed to a whole new generation of people, and those people got a watered down Tim Drake, with none of the context of the past 22 years his history.
A lot of people nowadays think Tim Drake is an overall boring character. His role in Young Justice is underdeveloped, and DC in an attempt to make him more likable write him as a quirky nerd in Gotham Knights and Titans, which again hinders the character's intelligence and lessens his impact.
So what M enterprises is proposing, which is a mostly (not completely) comic accurate adaptation of Batman: Knightfall, a story Tim Drake is heavily involved in as Robin, is totally reasonable. Tim is the whole reason as to why Jean-Paul Valley was brought into Batman's inner circle which kicked off the second and third acts.
Damian shouldn't be Robin either.
DC butchered Tim's character I feel bad for the guy. He had a good thing going with Steph. But as usual DC ruins it.
I mean most tim fans I've seen don't like him staying as robin and want him back as red robin or a new identity.

Firstly DC animated movies need to be more faithful to what they’re adapting as they’re trying to one up the original with creative liberties and art styles resulting in a worse retelling

Hell yeah! I don't mind a few characters being added to keep within the time period, but they've taken too many liberties in some cases.
I would also love to see a Justice League movie the last ones we got are more of DC Hero movies and a Trinity movies. The last JUST Justice League movie we got was Throne of Atlantis in 2015.

This is going to be a weird one because of how much context they would have to put into it, but Flash War.
One: It gives our boy Wally his due
Two: It shows the non-comic DC fans that there are multiple Flashes by having two of them side-by-side
Three: It could capitalize on the whole "Barry vs Wally" arguments that happened a few years ago and still sparsely happen today
Four: I am not a fan of the random rewriting they do...but, the rewrites to Under the Red Hood were good, and an end to Flash War that doesn't lead to Heroes in Crisis? Of shortcutting to the end of Death Metal where Barry makes Wally the main Flash, again? Heck, get Joshua Williamson to rewrite his own story. He's already writing everything else in DC Comics.
All of these ideas are free, DC.

Even if we hadn't examples of movies lead by women succeeding before (LIKE THE WONDER WOMAN MOVIE), great movies flop all the time (ex: Blade Runner, Donna Darko, the Iron Giant, etc.). This is no different.

Also, many people assume that she collected money because she was in the same world as Batman and Superman, and when they ran out, they stopped paying attention to her and started laughing at her.

Nah, seriously, I've been begging DC to make an animated Knightfall movie, but when they do, it definitely needs to be a 3 parter with each movie focusing on a different saga of the storyline.

I would love of an adaption of Kingdom Come.
Watchmen will supposedly be a big leap forward for DC animated movies as far as production value since it will be all CG. This could mean they might make Kingdom Come since the reason they haven’t attempted it yet is because the Alex Ross art style is so important to the story and that can’t be translated into 2d animation. It would either have to be live action or high budget CG, so if Watchmen’s CG looks good then that gives me hope.

As a knightfall enjoyer, it doesn’t deserve a trilogy of movies, it deserves a whole series unto itself.

Your last idea is what a Gotham Knights show should be. Every season being one of the crazy crossovers in the Batman titles in the 90s and 2000s. They have so much to work with too

Infinite possibilities with a lot of potential. They could even have seasons where the arc is Under The Red Hood or Knightfall
They could do the justice league: league of one story which is more of a Wonder Woman story. It’s like a ancient legend where Wonder Woman has to face off against an ancient intelligent dragon that is spreading a curse across the world.

One great Wonder Woman x Justice League story is JLA: League of One where Diana has to take out her fellow League members so that they may avoid a certain deadly fate. It’s a fun story of Diana’s selflessness and a great display of her personality and lore

Yeah, I also wanted to see the adaptation of Batman: Knightfall, Superman Smashes the Klan and especially some of Wonder Woman, but I also want to see Batman: Venom, Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow ?, and Superman: For the Man Who Has Everything.

I would enjoy an Etrigan movie or series. But I don’t think he’s popular enough to get the screen time.
We should also have more green lantern movies or bring back the animated series. I wanna see more the different colored rings and a character like Nekron get adapted 😎.
I think Booster Gold is overdue for a movie. He's funny and can make meta-humor (only instead of realizing he's a comic book character, it's because he's from the future and knows things like how people never seem to stay dead and people keep coming back to jobs they say they're retired from), which seem to be ice-breakers for people who aren't already into superheroes (or at least that's what moviemakers today seem to be saying with how tongue-in-cheek they are) but he's also not a psychotic killer or a character who's been overutilized. Also a has a neat character arc he can go on within the span of a single movie and potential for sequels and stuff in the form of his friendship with Blue Beetle.
He's probably not a good suggestion in lieu of how much Batman stuff is out there, but I'd love to see some kind of adaptation of some of Dennis O'Neil's work with The Question. Maybe something just done in the tone of his run, but I'd love something that adapts the story more closely than not while still being able to get to a satisfying conclusion in 90 or so minutes. Maybe everything from his "death" to taking down that priest he fought early in the run, but pad it out a bit by rearranging when things like The Mikado happen and change those stories a bit to keep giving Question clues to get to the conclusion without making the individual stories unrecognizable...Kinda like an anthology, but all the stories are connected and heading to the conclusion.
Crazy idea, but some kind of condensed Knightfall, but with The Flash and his villains. Maybe swap Bane out for Zoom, but I guess that would necessitate changing this from a Wally story to a Barry story or treating Barry's villains as Wally's villains. Would probably end with Flash (whoever he is) winning rather than getting crippled, but a pyric victory where Zoom does wind up killing someone close to him to try to motivate him and the movie ends on a dour note.
Kingdom Come, Blackest Night, Sinestro Corps War maybe, a slightly more intricate adaptation of the Starro attack that leads to the creation of the Justice League, Superman smashes the Klan too, and maybe that story where Superman fights the Kryptonian goddess Cythonna too.

Sad that there aren’t anymore plans at the current moment for an interconnected animated universe. As it seems will just be getting animated projects tied to the new DCU and standalones. Would love to see a truly great DC animated movie universe that used ONE art style. And have it be less Batman focused, as that was a major issue with the DCAU and DCAMU. Would love to see more love to the Justice League, JSA, Titans, Green Arrow, etc. Why the fuck haven’t we had a animated Birds of Prey film I will never know

The one Batman comic I want to see adapted, but probably never will be bcs of the trippy imagery, is The Cult. It is raw as hell and is, to me, definitive batman material. Its a great blend of grounded and gritty with some supernatural elements. Has great pacing and story flow as well.
I can’t believe DC hasn’t adapted the Geoff Johns’ GL trilogy. Rebirth (with an intro summary of Emerald Twilight), sinestro corps war and Blackest Night would be epic movies.
