Kris, what's your opinion regarding the seats on the R design? How do they compare to the inscription seats? It looks as if they might be a bit more supportive..?? Thank You Kris!! Great reviews!
Hi Kris, such a great review! I have followed your example and made a 1 hour EV mode test drive video in POV here on the sunny Gold Coast, Australia. I believe it's the first of its kind video world wide! Full range test result is 30 km. Click on the Gold Coin to the left to see the 5 parts video about XC90 T8
Kris, great videos. I love the Volvo XC90 and will probably be buying one soon. Quick question. I will be coming out of a powerful SRT Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 6.1 liter V8. My worry with the Volvo is that it won't be powerful enough for my taste. Can you comment on the power differences between your T6 and the T8 you just reviewed? I know you said the T8 moves quick but how does it compare to your T6? Wondering if the T6 with the Polestar tune for the engine would be enough or if I should go for the T8? Does your T6 have the Polestar tune? I don't care about the economy as much as the performance.
I've owned this car for a year and about 20.000 km. So some real-life experience here. Just for comparison purposes - I really like your videos. Let me start by saying that this car is a real looker, inside and out! A design beauty. Now, first off, best 0-100 accelleration is 5.9 seconds. After 140km/h (German Autobahn speeds) you lose all electric power, and it's a heavy slouch. Real life mileage is simply poor: above 100km/h, mileage goes up to >10L/km. After 20K km, my average was about that as well, whereas my Q7 e-tron returns 4(!!) to 6 on average. The T6/T8 engine is not only noisy at high speed: the entire car is poorly insulated, especially compared to the Audi Q7 e-tron, especially in electric mode. Lot's and lots of road and wind noise. And be honest (or do some more testing): this 4 cylinder is one of the poorest sounding 4 cylinder gasoline engines you'll ever hear, especially under load. Out of electricity? From that point, the XC90 T8 is a 320HP power-steering FWD SUV. The size of the fuel tank makes it so that in Germany and at 160> on average, you'll be at the gas station about every two hours. The fuel gauge/range indicator is more of a joke than any serious indication of your range. Same goes for the electric range indicator. Real life all-electric range is 25km, about 30 if you turn of all energy consumers like A/C and seat heating, and you should pre-heat as well to get to that number! The air suspension quality is a very good upgrade compared to the standard suspension (which I drove for about 3 months before I had the air suspension), but not as luxurious as you would experience in a Mercedes or Audi. I fully agree with the price point remark: very good quality for relatively good money. Something you didn't mention: the lack of haptic feedback from the Sensus system is a slight mishap. There's nothing better than looking at the temp, and to know that two clicks of the button means it's 1 degree hotter/cooler. With the Sensus system, you'll have to make sure you touch the correct spot on the screen AND end up with the correct temperature, all the while looking at the screen, and not on the road. The 12-inch digital gauge cluster is "okay" at best: it's inconfigurable (expect for some color schemes and switchtin between revs and power-consumption) and has a really poor resolution compared to the systems used by competitors (for instance, Audi and Mercedes). And even though Volvo is bragging about the Pilot Assist and it's revolutionary, any configuration of competing car with a combination of lane assist and adaptive cruise control (which I already had in my 2012 Audi A6) works, well: exactly the same - if not better. Just my two cents, y'all. ;-)
I have 5 more videos on my channel on this car and almost 40 more videos about my XC90 D4, a car I've driven almost 85K kilometers in the last one and a halv year :) I've addressed all your points in earlier videos :)
Hi Chris, thanks for the reply. I know, I've seen quite a few. Including the review of the Q7 e-tron (which is my daily right now). And I agree with a lot in both reviews, but there's a notable bias in your reviews. Just wanting to provide viewers with a counter-perspective. Keep up the good work! (Y)
Love your videos Chris! Your the reason I drive a XC90 T8 Inscription today, after watching your early XC90 reviews
Thanks a lot Gorm :) I'm glad I've been able to help you out!
Kris...the full wrap up video gave a great overview of the XC90 T8. I really enjoyed the series. Thanks

Really...well let me check that out. Thank you.
Anyone have a T8 R-Design with the 22" wheel option + air suspension? Curious about the ride quality.

Why are there no fog lights in the front?
faten altawil For whatever reason, the European models don't seem to have them but the US models do.
And the 2018mod is supposed to have 20% more battery..
This car has a 9,2kWh, while the 2018 have 10,4kWh :)
Jepp. so i was told. to bad Volvo are having so much trouble delivering there new cars. but it will be worth the wait i think.
I think it's actually the same battery, but in the 2018 we are allowed to use a little more of the built in "safety buffer"?
