Hi! I tried a couple songs that I knew would have more bass and it seemed to be the speakers. When I played mostly guitar and violin music it sounded great. I have since added a dedicated bass speaker to the center channel and it has definitely rounded out the total sound. I would recommend this because of the sound difference. I hid the bass speaker under a table and have the panels suspended from a metal beam. Thanks for the questions and the views! Pete
By using different mounting techniques, materials, and lots of modifications on the transducers including close to 5 years of experimentation, you hear the current version of my own design on my tiny YT channel.
It sounds ok, but that's just it. I guess the best thing is that it does not take up much useable space and being Flat they should not collect as much dust and debris as a typical speaker box. However if you value the quality and richness of the sound (Not Volume) you might want a better set of speakers. There are a lot of Used speaker boxes from Stereos that don't work anymore that you can probably get at a low cost or Free and save some good useable stuff from ending up in the landfill.
It did sound better in person, my old camera doesn’t do it justice. I would like to add a bass speaker to this arrangement, I’ll check out Craigslist for a cheap one. Thanks for watching! Pete
Hi Chess, Totally unscientific but I needed tunes in a bug infested metal warehouse at my job. These speakers sound great to me, especially paired with an old subwoofer I had laying around. I don’t know the frequencies or the wattage but it’s loud enough. I recommend building a set, experiment with the placement of the driver and the size of the foam board. I’m planning on adding a 2 by 4 piece and seeing if that can give me better low end without the need for a real subwoofer. Thanks for watching! Pete
Hi Billy, That’s a great idea. I have been thinking of trying to make my own bass speaker with the scraps I have in the shop. Thanks for giving me an idea and a push! Pete
even the title comes close to the BEST SPEAKERS IN THE WORLD title of tech ingredients :) witch of course was click bait to the max, at least you take it for what dml is ! and would be pretty happy to hear it in a workshop !! nicely done !!
Hi John, For my application these speakers are just what our warehouse needed. I did recently add a bass speaker to round out the lower notes but overall I am happy with the sound quality , and would do it again. I was surprised at how full the sound was and it filled the open space we have. Doing this project has me thinking about changing the shape of the foam board to possibly alter the sound. Maybe a larger panel would reach down into the bass region? This speaker project seems to be a good intro to learning about the design and physics of sound. I say go for it and enjoy building a cool project! Thanks for watching, Pete
I don’t think I heard your voice hardly through any of the video except when you were talking to your girlfriend you didn’t explain what type of speaker you were using and where you got it from or none of that
Для гаража может и лучшие, но для нормального человеческого слуха - как-то не очень впечатлили) может, есть вариант сделать это на тонкой натянутой плёнке? Всё таки вес диффузора имеет значение...
Hi Pete, nice job ! Did the speakers really had Low Level of Bass frequency, or was it the music recording that hadn't low frequency ???

Cool project Pete! I always enjoy your videos. Say "Hi" to H.
Thanks! Will do!

Things like that always cause partial vibrations that are disruptive and Hi Fi will never do that

Did you ever add the sub? Looking to make a build when my tranduces get in which wattage did you use? 20 or 40?@@PetesGarageWorkshop
Some use lighter wire to lessen mass affecting the exciter
What makes these the best speakers??? What is the frequency range? How many watts can the foam handle before distortion?

Why don't you use plexiglass and incorporate a box in the rear to get bass and highs

sounds good!!!
Thanks, not to bad for what I needed it to be.

Not the best speakers, but great concept. I am all for open baffle concepts.
No need to sand the foam down.. run a heat gun over the board and watch it seal itself
Great idea, I thought it may burn the surface. Not sure of if I could control it that well.

And ? Is the quality of sound any good or should I just get a pair of cheapo speakers from craigslist ?

I wonder if the base would sound better if the panels were 10 to 15% thinner.

Its in the notes with links to everything

Cool idea! Like a Mylar film with a really thin driver.
