Since you're up to 99 comments thought it right to add a 100th. Nice informative video Matthew. That rod is working well. Messing around with feathers, you'll soon be attaching them to everything. Can't wait to get out myself. It does feel like we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Keep up the vlogging.
I'm an inventor and a very keen shore fisherman and I'm always experimenting with tackle and baits as you can see on my channel. I use a very unusual bait for catching flatfish of which I really want to share with everyone but as I cannot get out fishing due to lockdown and I feel as though I need to prove how well my bait idea works on camera, it's just gonna have to wait however, I really like the feather idea, great idea and free to make.
Very informative especially the tip about the feather, if no one gives you the tips you and up with a lot more blank's. Well done for not keeping it to yourself
Great video Matt! Not caught or eaten Dabs for years but they certainly are delicious! More Catch & cooks always welcome. Great info about tipping off worm baits, especially the feather! If you're casting that Multiplier out and only leaving a few metres of line on the spool, I guess there is no chance of Bird's nests! 😁😁 Thanks Matt - stay safe & well. Dave. 👍👍
Do enjoy the bait presentation plus preparation and cooking...I think too meny fishing vlogs lack any help with these specific issues thank you so much grazie ciao
Nice video. I'm lucky also, I live 6mins walk from my local beach (Preston Weymouth). A tip off bait I have read about for dabs is kipper. I've not tried it yet. When I've eaten dabs, I've always skinned the dark side and them just gentle shallow fry on the bone. Yum yum.
Nice one Matt. I remember bagging up on these Dabs in the eighties, the beaches must have literally been paved with them. We always took the largest couple home. Great British shore angler’s fish.
Nice going there. The quickest way to see if a flattie is a dab just look along lateral line has a semi circle in it the only flattie that has that. Been busy with other things to get out and now stormy weather.
Thanks for this cheered me up no end reminded me of when me and the misses had dab matches off the harbour wall in Bridlington And yes the misses won more than I Great days♡

Hi I shall try the feather for the dabs & I think the plaice will go as well. I'm going to get out in about a weeks time. I mainly fish for bass, but I do enjoy flatty bashing.😀
Will deffo try out the seagull feathers to tip off, great tip that. I Find sprats so frustrating as they look like such a good bait and are cheap as hell to buy but I've only ever managed to catch whiting on them which is no great achievement. Ta for another great vid 👍..
I will give the feathers a go ,thanks for the tip. Don't know when we will be allowed to go to the coast again..bloomin lockdown....... Keep the vids coming, cheers.
Oh yack, was trying to finish my pudding but all them lugworm and stuff put an end to that 😅😁Them dabs looked smashing,l bet they tasted even better . Thank you for sharing, keep them coming 👌🌱🌱🌱💕
Well they use feathers for lures in other situations so I can see why that'd work. I've done something similar using split shot and a feather to create a makeshift jig for perch when I was younger which was a bit of fun. I used to enjoy handlining perch using whatever bait or lure I could scratch up from around a nearby bridge support when the fishing was really slow at my favourite spot, never failed to amuse me watching them investigate the bait through the crystal clear water, frustrating as all hell when they'd come up and turn away but so satisfying when you did get one to take it
Hand lining perch on improv rigs now really Is proper fishing, sounds igloo. Thanks Luke it funny how those memories stick with you I can definitely Remember fish from 30/40 years ago coming up through the clear water
Thanks for the feather tip. I like you have fishing walking distance, up on the River Conwy estuary. I manage a flounder or two usually every second trip out, had a nice 34cm 1.3lb just a day or two ago, but i will try the feather trick and see if it works for flounder as well as the dabs. Cheers
I always bait lug tail first,it slot easier n I think fishes better, dabs n whiting have left my beaches,it serious scratching time for me now, keep bids coming 👍
I wonder if the feather floats and waggles underwater attracting the dab. I cook dab and flounder like you show it and put any offcuts deep into my compost heap. Quite a few flatties here in winter and I am only 5 mins. from the shore too. thanks for the Vid!
Strangest bait I've used is uncooked chicken.saw it with my own eyes,so I know it's true, plus my mates got pics of him with 5lb bass in Swansea marina.give it a go up your way,you never know🏴🎣🎣 Tight lines!
Great to see some lovely Dabs! We used to catch lots here in Devon but they disappeared years ago. Does anyone know what happened to the Dabs in South Devon?
Ah thanks for the feedback , I’m so close to the fisheries and many excellent Gillette’s I should really film them fillet my fish , I’m not too bad at filleting and enjoy cooking enough so yea maybe some plaice next month too.
As in the UK, so is here, in Israel, we are in lockdown. So no beach for who is not living close to the sea. I haven't gone fishing for more than a month now... The trick with the feathers is quite interesting, could you, please make a short video on how you tie them to the worm on the hook, without them falling away, please?
Yes I will do that. Sorry it was meant to be included in the original video but had a lot of technical issues with this one . It seems Israel as you say is the same in the uk in terms of living near the sea is the only way to fish.

Thanks for the reply i like the idea that your on your phone trying to buy a rod while your fishing ! . Sea fishing is slightly different to course in that theres not really a dedicated float rod.
