I along with 3 other gentlemen from my church in Eastern NC traveled up to Ashe County this past Friday with 2 trailer loads of supplies. We dropped them off at Mountain View Elementary School and proceeded over to the Ashe County Airport to assist in their efforts on Friday afternoon and Saturday. The Ashe County Parks Director allowed us to camp out in the Jefferson town park. I learned that 399 small airplanes had been unloaded as of Thursday afternoon. Over 100 more were unloaded on Friday and Saturday from as far away as Idaho. We helped load trucks and trailers for distribution throughout the county while unloading and sorting supplies coming in. I completely agree with some of the others, your sharing what you and others have lived through with Hurricane Helene. So many are sending all of WNC many prayers!! ❤ Stand strong, stand proud, and be thankful for what cows have lived and that you can eventually if you want and have the desire too, rebuild!!
I live in Winston Salem and my family visits your area from time to time and this absolutely breaks my heart. We moved to NC from FL when I was 40, now 60. This devastation makes a FL hurricane look like a picnic. Thank you for making the video. People need to understand the scope of the area affected is enormous. If you have never visited the Appalachian mountains it is very hard to comprehend the area. Ashe county is just one of 25 in the state that experienced this. I have watched several and this gentleman was actually lucky, like he said everything is fixable. My son lives on the coast and in 2018 was hit by hurricane Francise. He bought a house at 22 and the next year got hit by another 100 year storm that sat for 3 days and dumped 40 inches of rain. His house was built 8 feet above ground and he had 3 feet of water in his house, so 11 feet of water on his land! 30 miles inland. It was a week before he could get into see his house and he had to do that by boat. We didn't have storms like this 20 years ago. Katrina was the beginning of a new ERA in hurricanes. There might be something to this climate change business, I know I'll be long gone before the decision is made. I wish everyone going through this the strength to get through it one day at a time.
Watching this video one can see in your face and voice just how beaten down you are. Although you're saying it can all be fixed. To see years of hard work destroyed in a day, don't know I would be able to handle it as well as you are. My heart is breaking for you and others in your condition and worse. At 76 I don't think I'd be able to start over again as I had to many times when I was younger. Have no idea how you're able to hold it together, but thankfully you are ok and hopefully your family, friends and neighbors are also. My prayers and thoughts go out to you. Things will get better.
You've got our long term and short term prayers and help commitment, sir - you and all of you in NC, TN, and SC... I'm so sorry this happened but you're right, rebuilt for the next one that may be bigger than that. For the next generation... it will be slow if done right and you start by just doing the one thing at a time...God be with you and your family, neighbors, friends and community.
I’m so truly thankful you gave viewers first hand the destruction of Mother Nature can do. In your video you gave hope to all in your community and county. I’m so happy prayers are being answered to help all of you.🙏🏾👍🏿❤️
I was so relieved when you found your cows. We are praying for you daily. It is so sad to see what has happened. This is bigger than any one person can show. Thank you for documenting from your area. We must all help each other.
Watching the shock spread over your face and mind as you surveyed the damage was heartbreaking. I know you don’t need sympathy. You seem to be a smart and hardworking guy. Thank you for your raw honesty. Thank you for sharing your personal devastation. Just because others “have it worse” doesn’t mean you can’t share your losses. I’m praying for your recovery. And the recovery of your community. The truth is that you WILL overcome this. You WILL move forward: one step at a time. One problem at a time. You can only do so much every day. Just doing what you can every day is enough.
I saw some places I grew up going to completely flooded in this video, was hard for me to get info about the non urban areas but thank you for this video cause I can see it all now and have the confirmation I needed thank you
My heart goes out to you, your family, your community and all who were devastated by this flood. May the Lord help you all on this journey of trying to get your things back to livable.

My prayers are with you and all your county, well everywhere. Such a tragedy and waste. Thank the Good Lord for saving all your cows. ❤
Sending love and prayers to all. Nobody could ever prepare for this. I’m so sorry for all the loss. 🙏💕 from California. 🙏🙏thank you for your coverage so we can understand. 🙏
I was born and raised on a farm in Tennessee. I now live in Ashe County. I am heartbroken for the people of my adopted home county. Yet, I see a resilient people here, country folk are tough, even in the earliest stages of recovery. I love how people have come together at my little volunteer fire dept, bringing in supplies and sharing with those who have lost so much. Neighbors helping neighbors, covering one another in prayer, is a wonderful thing. God bless you and all our Ashe County community as we begin to put the pieces together and move forward.
Amen! 🙏 I will be praying for each and every one of you. ❤
Glad you made it. Thanks for showing us around a bit. Best of luck❤
Praying for you and your family as well as everyone affected from this storm.
Glad I ran across this video!!! I was baptized in New River just before you turn left towards Jefferson (5:05 - 5:06 in the video) in November 1970 !! That water was cold. 🥶 I joined Glendale Springs Missionary Baptist Church……Rev. Paul Phipps was pastor at the time. If anybody knows Ronnie Miller (AKA Mountain Man), he’s my brother! 😊
So sorry for your loss. May God bless you as you recover! 🙏🏻. I live in Statesville now……since 1971.
My church……..South River Baptist in Statesville will be in Ashe County this week…..Oct. 14th……cooking and feeding those who are tired and hungry. Shout out to Scott Townsell and his team……thanks for all your hard work and all you do……in Jesus’ name! 😊❤
I grew up in Fleetwood and my family refuses to leave. Thank you for posting. This has been the only video close to our home. I'll be following the rebuild!
God bless you, your family and your community. It was devastating watching your video. My heart goes out to all of you. I will say my heart skipped a beat when you found your cows. My prayer is god keeps blessing you and brings your farm back to the most glorious place ever. Much love and prayers to all of you from Michigan. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
I'm so sorry about everything you've lost. All the equipment, the hay, the fences, the roads...I'm glad you still have your family, and your house and cows. I used to live up at the top of West Mill Creek Rd., so I recognize a lot of where you're traveling. My heart goes out to you. Like all of Ashe county, I'm just devastated. I'm 75, or I'd be up there helping with clean up. As it is, I can bring food and household goods to the donation centers.....
Praying for strength your way, constant prayer, unending strength🤛💪🏻
I’m from Marion. Please know that you and all that have been affected by this devastation is in my prayers. This should be the prayers of our entire country. 🙏🏼❤️ When you are ready to do what’s needed… reach out… we can get help to you as we are neighbors… it’s why we are on this earth…. To lend that helping hand… God bless you!
Amen! I pray you are able and do help each other as it doesn’t appear that many others are so willing to help. God bless you❤

So many are sending all of WNC many prayers!! ❤ Stand strong, stand proud, and be thankful for what cows have lived and that you can eventually if you want and have the desire too, rebuild!!

Your family, community and all those hit with this devastating loss are in my prayers and lots of peoples’ hearts here in the Pacific Northwest.
Im heartbreaking 💔 😢looking to the devastation. I will continue praying for all of you. May God bless you all lot more.
I’m so happy prayers are being answered to help all of you.🙏🏾👍🏿❤️
Sorry for your loss
So happy the girls were there waiting on you.
God bless you & yours! I'm 🙏 for you. The Lord sees you.❤
I was so relieved when you found your cows. We are praying for you daily. It is so sad to see what has happened. This is bigger than any one person can show. Thank you for documenting from your area. We must all help each other.
I’m sorry for your loss.😢
Watching the shock spread over your face and mind as you surveyed the damage was heartbreaking.
I know you don’t need sympathy. You seem to be a smart and hardworking guy.
Thank you for your raw honesty. Thank you for sharing your personal devastation. Just because others “have it worse” doesn’t mean you can’t share your losses.
I’m praying for your recovery. And the recovery of your community.
The truth is that you WILL overcome this. You WILL move forward: one step at a time. One problem at a time. You can only do so much every day. Just doing what you can every day is enough.
😢😢😢 so sad. Praying for everyone affected. Devastating
I saw some places I grew up going to completely flooded in this video, was hard for me to get info about the non urban areas but thank you for this video cause I can see it all now and have the confirmation I needed thank you

You've got some beautiful land there.
🙏😭🙏😭🇺🇸Thank you for posting this video. So sorry. Bless y’all. Prayers to you and everyone impacted.
I just returned from delivering supplies and volunteering for several days in NC. Seeing the damages & devastation in person with boots on the ground is more heartbreaking and very different than seeing it on a screen. Prayers to everyone.🙏😭🙏🇺🇸
It’s so mind blowing how much damage the Helene left behind. Prayers for the entire region. Like you kept saying nothing that can’t be repaired. It will take a very long time to get things up and running Hang in there 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
