You have a great point! It's weird because people rave about 'old RUclips', even though TikTok is actually very similar in a lot of ways. For example, 'Numa Numa' from 2006 is basically the same kinda thing you'd see on TikTok.

And If this video doesn't do good he has a risk of having to work with less money for the next 3-weeks as animations take a ton of time to make...so it's a risk.

@@jackattack1630 Artists can distribute to TikTok/Resso (which is their music streaming service), just like they do to spotify, apple music, etc.. Only thing is that they make pennies but that's nothing new with streaming in the music industry. I'm sure they get their music from other locations as well so im not totally sure about those instances, as distributing music to tiktok is much more recent compared to when the platform started blowing up.

I didn’t mind vine it was nice but tiktok just encouraged plagiarism for popularity and dumb trends that get people sick or hurt like tide pods so many felt pressured into the challenge for a few followers also the corona challenge and the most recent to my knowledge one where you take a bunch of random pills from your cabinet so I don’t think I’m going to use tiktok as that would increase popularity and encourage more people to do these potentially dangerous challenges

Looking into the comments, I do agree that some of the trends being discussed are absolutely horrible. However, it also feels like everyone is completely ignoring the exact point TimTom is making. There are things on every platform that are absolutely awful and/or “cringey”. Why does it make TikTok uniquely horrible?
