I was 14 in December 1973, weird. Once when I was a kid, about 6 or so, I went trick or treating with my older sister in the Harlem NYC projects. I remember a man opening his door wide and I could see a candy bowl on the dining room table just beyond. He bid us to come in and take as much as we wanted, but my sister refused and prevented me from entering his apartment. I was sooo mad! I can see that bowl in my memory so well, and the man too. I was a stupid child, but I'm alive.

This movie should be a must in every single school in every single country.
Pedophilia and trafficking are the purest form of evil.
When I was 13 I was walking down the street and a red car pulled next to me, it was two scary looking men. We made eye contact and one made me the gesture to get closer to them and the other told me to get in the car. In a matter of few seconds the car got even closer to me and I ran as fast as I could, thankfully all of this happened close to a store and I entered it. I cried and I was so frightened.
I never told my parents, just my husband, when I saw this scene where the poor girl goes underground. I had that flash back and when I have that flashback it always feels so real.
I'm so blessed I ran as soon and as fast as I could, I'm blessed to be a young adult and be a mother and wife and my heart breaks for all the innocent suffering.
If I wouldn't have ran that day I wouldn't be here, I would be a missing girl.

One night I was accidentally that creep. It was getting dark early and I stopped my car next to a minor girl and a boy walking on the sideway. I asked innocently for direction and they both screamed "NO! GO AWAY!!!" That was the moment I realized how creepy that situation might be for the two. It was creepy for me, too because I might potentially being accused of creeping on children. While realizing, I awkwardly said something like "Oh, um, sorry, I just wanna know the direction, but good job of you two. Don't talk to strangers." I was about to leave, when they stopped me and told me the direction anyway.

The thing that made me really sad is when her parents did not get the justice. They never had a chance to find her bones and get the killer. I am so frustrated every time they were close to the truth but they never got to see it. Like, come on! that murderer that i was looking for all the time is just next to me! Its the type of movie, when you are so involved, when it ends, you can get back to what you were doing before - you are just overwhelmed! Goosebumps, all the feels… thats, how a movie should leave you feeling - full of emotions. Theres so very few really good movies like this one. I have seen like 20 times.

This movie Broke my 11 yr old heart. I don't think up until that point I had ever seen an injustice like that on screen of her sister and crush never finding her body or getting good closure. Man that hit me. It opened me up to the reality that things don't always shake out well. And the second time I saw the opening on TV where she was narrating I balled so hard knowing what would happen and it was eery in a way that her voice had that mellow yet content sound, like she had already lived the story and was retelling what was inevitable.

The fact that this movie does not need to visualize what happened to Susie, yet still grasps the horror of her story, is remarkable. The uncanny reality that this is happening/has happened to a child. I remember myself at 14 and remember being so full of life and love for this world and the people in it, and the way Susie’s story captures that robbed innocence of childhood and trust parallels to my own trauma at 14, before I knew I had lost that kind of innocence. Just, wow.
I also researched the author of the book and reading the book, knowing Alice took her own experience and was able to empathize and capture the reality surrounding the victims of brutal predators, is remarkable. The admiration I have for this woman…

i watched this with my friend and her mother as a kid, the memory of it feels like a wound, i remember feeling so wrecked watching it because i’m a girl myself, the sorrow of knowing that so many girls the age i was at the time have been taken away from their entire lives because of some twisted person, and the notion of them even being haunted by them in the after life, AND the fact that sometimes justice is not immediately or even ever served broke my heart like nothing else. this film is absolutely beautiful and painful, hearing alice by cocteau twins still makes my heart fill up and my eyes get watery.

Sometimes justice is never served.. There was this sweet child in my neighborhood.. She was 7 .. She was taken.. We found her 2 days later on the verge of death in the woods near railway tracks.. But she made it..
But she didn't remember anything.. She couldn't tell the police anything about the man who took her.. The family left the neighborhood very soon.. And years later so did my family.. But it irks me so bad that he got away.. Got away with doing what he did.. I was 14 then...

Constantly they would come in my thoughts, while working, or meditating or eating or even in the middle of party where I am supposed to be enjoying. I am not sure if anyone can relate to that. Watching this movie made me feel like they are happy somewhere and watching us. I felt like its time for me to let go of that pain and emptiness that was left behind.
