Just because its my favorite book of all time and because I love Susie Salmon. I’ve always felt so bad for Susie because what happened to her happens everyday. Families lose their loved ones and a lot of the times they never know what really happened to them, and the murderers end up getting away. I think the saddest part of this story is the fact that her body was never found. Her family will never be able to lay her to rest and fully grieve over her.
I think we all pretty much watched this movie when we were way too young to actually be watching it and it scared us all to death. I know when I first watched it I was about 7 or 8, and it freaked me out. But it helped make me aware of the dangers of the world.

This film gutted me. I honestly yelled no Suzie! no no no.... I sobbed from the gut. Crushed.

I remember not knowing what this movie was about and then watching it and crying cause I was understanding that stuff like this happens and is real. The ending is so justifying! He got what he deserved
Thanks to the test audience. He was dying regardless but test audiences felt the original death scene wasnt brutal enough so they let the director know.
With this movie made me realize that it sucks that women/young females have too go through this but hit me like a truck that her body wasn't found and felt a amount of sadness that the justice for the murderer wasn't justicefided but the hardest part was the healing process because you think about it if you was in her shoes you'd think or feel the presence of a person with evil intentions or an aura that shouldn't be ignored when people say don't judge a book by it's cover sometimes if you have a gut feeling people would say u go with that gut feeling because it's a warning sign you shouldn't be there and u need too leave but if you ignore it like she did boom shes murdered and gone it hurts but it's painful and too all victims that been murdered and never got justice RIP and this movie showed that very well appreciate life and you're family that taught you don't trust people trust yourself as times 😔

Obviously it doesn't change the outcome of the movie but everytime I watch it I scream at her to just go home 😭
This does happen in real life and it’s beyond tragic but its my strong opinion as the parents and family and friends struggle the victims instantly go from an inconceivable place of pain and confusion to complete understanding, healing, and peace at levels we could never experience while here in human form.
I remember watching this at the cinema when it first came out, the summer (for me anyway here in Australia, but it was over the Christmas holidays when avatar and twilight were also first out) after I finished year 8, my first year of high school and I was 13 years old, I went to see it with my best friend at the time, he’ll I even remember what I was wearing that night, i top that was somewhere between a shirt and a dress but being the tripe who wanted to grow up way to fast and wore inappropriate clothing, I wore it as a dress that nearly covered my but, it was sort of a tee shirt dress with a tight band around the bottom as what fairly popular on 2009 and it was off one shoulder and had a women’s face with Fluor pink blue and yellow eye makeup on it and I wore it with black havianas with the thin strap and a diamontie in it lol. I think I remember so specifically because I’d gotten back from my dads that day a couple towns over and we had had a belated Christmas while I was there as he had been in new Zealand with his in-laws for Christmas so we celebrated a week late and the top/dress was one of my presents, as well as being so deeply effected by the movie as I had been sneaking off to the beach at night at my dads place (he lived like 500m from the beach) so I could party and hook up with guys and I realised for the first time just how much trouble I had been in and it stuck with me for a long time and so I remember pretty much everything from that night, even that I had a pink slushy and twin pods as my snack during the movie lol.

This movie was based off of a real story. It actually happened. That’s what I was told.

Well in a way I guess you could say it’s based on a number of different cases around the world because this happens every day: young women being assaulted and murdered by men, be they strangers or those we know. Little girls and women are sadly the victims of these crimes often enough to the point where we are raised to make certain choices to avoid it being us (walking with our keys in hand, walking with a group, avoiding walking at night etc.) But Susie Salmon isn’t based on one particular person or case, she’s fictional as are all the characters in the Lovely Bones.
It’s worth mentioning that the author of the book the film is based on, Alice Sebold, was a victim of r@pe when she was at college, however, and she wrote an autobiographical book called “Lucky” about her ordeal, and obviously her r@pe would have influenced her writing of The Lovely Bones after “Lucky”, especially the rather upsetting r@pe scene at the beginning.

Im surprised none of the neighbors saw the killer bringing susie to his house after she was killed.he mutilated her body and stuffed the remains into a safebox with a combination. Sicko. He wanted to hide any evidence that he had done the crime. Suzies suster was super smart. She never trusted the neighbor after susies disappearance. She slso agreed with her father when he suspected stanley tucci character in the murder of susie. They werd both right. They knew it even before the police did. Also i have to say that the investigation into suzies death was not thorough enough. Town crime scene specialists could have done more digging.
