thee more I watch their interviews the more I realize that if it wasn't for Mike D there would be absolutely no interview questions answered seriously......ever. lol
Interviewer: "So where is this alternative/visionary video style coming from" Yauch: "One time we went Elephant hunting in Africa and built these cabinets out of ivory tusks..."
This is damn near 30 years old and it’s still hilarious that House of Pain ever thought they were more real than the Beasties. How are those country rock albums selling these days?
The Beastie's were growing up. They weren't trashing hotel's like it's going out of style 6 years later. House of Pain at the age they are at there should have felt ashamed for acting like such trashy hooligans.
I'm so glad I was coming of age, during this time. I'm certain this interview ran on 'New Music'--an hour long program that featured 2-3 groups, and had interviews that were so much more 'real' then MTV's bullshit schlock. Even when they were being goofy, most artists appreciated the nuanced questions, and being allowed to speak without fear of being taken out of context. Sadly, MuchMusic went the way of MTV--that is, focusing on non-music related content. But for those of us who had access to this channel during that time, we were lucky.
@@M540FELLA WOW...haven't thought about FUSE, in a long time. Such a 00's things, lol. So, on the one hand, you're right about MM turning into the Fuse Channel. However, it was initially a joint venture between MM Canada (the original parent company, which started in 1984) and MM USA (the joint venture between MM Can & Cablevision started in 1994). As I'm Canadian, I was referring to the initial channel--which essentially took most of the remaining music content, over to Fuse, in the early 00's. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuse_(TV_channel)
There was 2 reason why they did not continue on there punk musical path and those reasons names are Kate Schellenbach and John Berry who inspired them to be a four-piece hardcore punk band named the Young Aborigines after they both quit the remaining 3 guys changed the band name and turned to hiphop and had success with the song Cooky Puss.
Yeah, they even by their own admission said their punk stuff was pretty bad, and a poor mans Bad Brains lol, saying Beastie Boys or BB was actually because of BB like Bad Brains.

The shower "accidentally " turning on when the interviewer asks a dumb ass question- lol!!! Very good. 😊
Built his own helicopter out of wood...
Yauch is talking about "himself" - he directed the videos under the nom de guerre of Nathanial Hörnblowér.

Growing up in that era, we were exposed to so much cool music. Man, times have changed.

Yauch doesn't even look convinced on his own answer abt his cousin
"Like what do you mean, like I got a job and my wife's got a job?"
I don't know why, but the way he said that is so funny to me 😅

What was Yauch's solo record on Def Jam?
Em idolize mike d even had a rhythm with him
Agreed! :)
Thats one thing people dont know about them was they started off playing like punk music before rap music.
They released a compilation album titled "some old bullshit" with all their old punk and hardcore stuff on it.

That is the Soul Assassin remix, if I am remembering right. It has Cypress Hill on it too.

My favorite band, but their interviews were so ridiculous when they were young
anybody know the answer at the end? MCA's solo?
MCA and Burzootie - Drum machine. Released in 1983. I own a copy on vinyl 😁
What song is it at the start?
And at 7:42
At the start is: “Screaming at a Wall”. It’s a minor threat cover.
