Hey @dion . 100% battery capacity for an iPhone 14 pro after 1 year. How? Based on the calculations made and applied we lose 1% battery every 25 complete cycles (0-100%) charge which is 4% every 100 complete cycles. Apple’s website suggests that an iPhone will retain up-to 80% of its original battery capacity after the first 500 cycles I am sure that the data shown here isn’t quite right. I use an XR which is 4 years old and my current battery capacity reads at 87% which by the way is incorrect. In reality when I did the math it stands at 85.09%. I checked my current battery cycle count from the analytics logs and checked cracked the current percentage by my phone’s nominal charging capacity by its Max Charging Capacity. I am sure the same applies to your iPhone 14 pro too.
Hi, yes, that is what Apple informs us and in general it is right. However, there are so many factors that come into play. I agree that after one year the 100 % is technically not possible, but it is what is indicated, so probably it is being rounded. My 14Pro Max is 96% after one year.

Hi! I've only ever charged my iphone with a cable, and I actually don't really like magsafe. In Estonia at the moment, iPhone 14 Pro, 128 GB costs 1189 EUR, 14 Pro Max 1399 EUR, 14 Pro 256 GB costs 1299 EUR and Pro Max 256 GB costs 1499 EUR, 14 Pro Max 512 GB costs 1879 EUR. iPhone 14 and 14 plus standard costs from 128 GB 899 eur, 14 plus 999 eur, 256 GB iphone 999 eur and plus 1149. In Europe the prices are much more expensive and in Estonia iPhone prices rise every year, we are not like the USA. Thank you for the video!
Warm greetings to Estonia! I have been there a few times, many years ago. And thanks for your support to Ukraine. True, in some countries the prices are (too) high. Best, Dion
@@DionMedia Hi! Yes, you wrote once before that you have been to Estonia and Latvia, and that is nice. I haven't been to England yet, I really want to visit this country, maybe someday I'll get to England too. Unfortunately, Estonia is becoming more and more expensive every year, we can feel it painfully in our everyday life here, and many tourists have also said so. I put the prices so that maybe others also want to see them and that it is a bit difficult to calculate them, because most of the time iPhone prices are either in dollars or pounds, but in the end, you have to add 200-400 euros to each imaginary price, depending on whether it is a Pro or a Pro Max, then you have an idea of how expensive iPhone prices are in Estonia. I'm really looking forward to the new iPhone and their prices, it seems. Thank you for your answer!

Hi, This is a great video and some really good info. However i use a esr magsafe wireless charger overnight for my iphone 14 pro max. I've had it a year and my battery health is still 100%. This charger has a fan built inside to keep the phone cool whilst charging, which ESR term cryoboost, but i believe this helps the charging stick to a certian wattage all the way rather than going to the full and gradually come doing to a few watts. I also have some android phones and use the same charger for those aswell.
Hi! This is a very good and comprehensive video! I charge my old iPhone with a cable, I don't have MagSafe either. I have slow and fast iphone chargers, I use them as needed. I also mostly charge my iPhone at night. Thank you!
So basically it's not strictly necessary to charge it up to 80-85%? Can I safely do 100%? Or should I balance between both, charging up to 85% and up to 100% eventually?
There are so many conflicting article and the scientific data contradict each other. That is why I focus on the way of charging and on the number of Watt

I do have a concern, I have an 8-Port USB charger that says in the back USB Output: 5V===12A (max) / Each port 2.4A, Could you please tell me if that is ok for overnight charging?
Very nice review! Should I let my iPhone 14 pro max drop down to about 21% before charging it? Is that a recommended range to let it drop down before charging it without causing Long-Term damage to the battery? What is the recommended battery range to wait before charging it?
HI, good question. Research in inconclusive, and that is why I did not mention it in the video, but if we use as starting point that the less cycles the better, then it seems logic to drop as much as possible before recharging it.

Amazing .. mine is at 88% after 11mths….. will replace it once it hits 70-80% as I decided to skip doing an upgrade this year which i use to do annually since IP4s
heres a cap, battery also needs heat to operate appropriately because of the materials used. It was designed to take heat, so I’ll say enjoy your phone. Life is too short to be worried about batteries, just replace it if it reaches 80%.
Hi. All nice but using the phone generates heat as well so I don’t think big magic can be done here. The orther issue is upgrading the software hits always the battery also. 3rd point doesn’t matter what the app shows after 1 year utilisation charged every day no battery is 100% it is just physics.
It necessary turn on the low power mode at all times? At normal using the iPhone 14 pro would get warm gradually, and I think that is bad to battery life. But turning on the low power mode the 120 hz promotion would be closed, and affect the experience of iPhone. (sorry about my poor English 😂)
My mom's iphone 13 battery capacity is 87%, why it's not 100% anymore? Is it because of she used her phone while charging? Like watching in yt while charging?

My battery health is at 91% and I have no idea why. Ok sometimes the phone reached temps of over 42 C while charging even on 5W, but i dont think thats enough to get it to 91% so fast
how about leaving the iphone 14PM on a charger during the day? I wake up, unplug my iphone from 5w wired charger, head to work and put it on a magsafe stand at 100% ALL day. Plug it back in at night before bed. cycle continues. Is that good for the battery? even though It says 100% but I feel my battery capacity degraded, doesn't even last 6 hours during full use w/o charge. Is this a software issue?
I have an Iphone 14 pro max, and after 1 year and 6 months battery percentage is at 90%, is it ok??? Also few months a go it was 100% but then suddenly when it went to 99% , it has been dropping 2% to 3% battery health every month is that ok or is there a problem with my phone?

Apple’s website suggests that an iPhone will retain up-to 80% of its original battery capacity after the first 500 cycles
I am sure that the data shown here isn’t quite right.
I agree. It doesn't make sense at all and he doesn't even cover the cycle count of the battery. Seems very suspicious to me.
Hi, yes, that is what Apple informs us and in general it is right. However, there are so many factors that come into play. I agree that after one year the 100 % is technically not possible, but it is what is indicated, so probably it is being rounded. My 14Pro Max is 96% after one year.
@@DionMediaSir, I bought my 14 Pro Max last year, and I started using it this year not up to year my battery is now 94%. Sir can you tell me what what I have to start applying to make it stop not going down again
so ladies and gents it been proven fast charge kills battery health i charge mine with 5w once a week and it is still at 100%
My charging habits I got a 20 watt apple charger I use it till about 30% and I’ll charge it to 80% 85% I charge to 100% twice a week I know it’s weird it’s just a habit but after 6 months im still on 100% but the environment is key as well avoid hot temps what l learned using my 13 pro max is that if you use it while on charger that’s a quick way to lose health the 20 watt is fast enough to get me a decent charge on the go
Thanks for sharing your experience
Why overthink so much just charge it and that s it damn
Ah, I always get excited when viewers come from countries that I have visited. Sorry to bother you twice. Best regards, Dion
I got 100% after a year with my prior IPhone 11. I recently upgraded to the 15 Pro. I will see if I get repeat the same feat twice with the battery health. I ended with the 11 at 74% battery health after 4 years before sending it in for trading in 2 days ago. My offer is for $200 off after trade in.
My only question is why are your phones times so different.. 1:32 and 11:52 respectively at the 12:05 mark
A great topic and nice presentation.
thanks!
Nicely Explained, Thanks ❤
Most welcome 😊
Is it mandatory though to have both fast and slow charger for iPhone?
No, but having both comes in handy. A fast charger, although not recommended by me, comes in handy at times :)
I also have 100% battery Health it’s good for me but whenever I try to sale it peoples couldn’t believe it asking me is it a boosted battery
Well I am not sure about the background apps because once I didn’t close a game from the background and the next day I woke up my battery was drained so am not sure about the background thing
do you think it's better to use a 5 w charger also for the mac or only for the phone?
If possible, for both
already do that for a few years now...during night I only use slow charger....and I only use fast charger when I really need more juice......
Agree, best approach
What about a 10watt charger? Still good right since it also doesn’t generate much heat and prolong the battery life a bit longer.
Nothing wrong with the 10W, but 5W overnight is best to prolong battery life.
@@DionMedia thanks :3
battery health percentage made everyone paranoid
I have a new iphone the 14 pro max and the regular apple charger, how should I charge correctly? 20-80%??
i think you should charge to 100 and dont let below 20
The 5w charger overnight charging is really heating up the adapter!
Please Reply, can i use default cable comes with iphone 15 with 5w charger?
Hi how many times ur charge ur phone per day? Is it ok if i charged 2-3 times per day if i follow this rule? Tq
1x per day should be enough
5W vs 12W what would you recommend ?
5w for overnight
I don’t see a 5 watt charger from apple anywhere. Where you get it ?
What about a magsafe charger plugged into a 9w block vs the 20w block from apple? Would that make a difference?
The magsafe charger supports up to 15W. There will be a difference. I prefer, when possible to go for the lower W
I just got a 15 plus today. Should I not use my 20W charger over night? Should I purchase a 5W for overnight and keep the 20W for during the day IF it needs it? I’m having a hard time understanding this and I need someone to dummy it down for me haha
I also have some android phones and use the same charger for those aswell.
impressive story, does this approach has same impact on charging the Android phones?
Hi! This is a very good and comprehensive video! I charge my old iPhone with a cable, I don't have MagSafe either. I have slow and fast iphone chargers, I use them as needed. I also mostly charge my iPhone at night. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I have had my iPhone 11 Pro for more 3.5 years and my battery health is still at 100%.
What did you do?
So basically it's not strictly necessary to charge it up to 80-85%? Can I safely do 100%? Or should I balance between both, charging up to 85% and up to 100% eventually?
There are so many conflicting article and the scientific data contradict each other. That is why I focus on the way of charging and on the number of Watt
This is very detailed and informative, could you do so for android phones❤
Might be a good idea for the future!
My iPhone 11 had about 1,155 cycles on it and it had a battery health of 63% it lasted about 4 hours before it died
That is a bit on the low side.
I charged my 13 pro max and 14 pro max the same way (overnight via a Belkin magsafe charger), I sold the 13 after a year with 98% battery health and the 14 currently has 94%, it doesn’t make any sense
Oh and the 13 pro max every night I went to bed, it had 35-50% of battery remaining, on the other hand, I am charging the 14 pro max every single night
Thanks for sharing your experience
I shifted from Xs Max to IPhone 14 pro :
My issues
The screen is smaller - that’s live able
But what is really frustrating is the battery during down as my screen time is around 11 hr and I need to charge it twice a day … unlike my xs Max which 7:19 lasted me for 3/4 th day ..
screen is not as good looking as a Samsung phone (s23)
Pro
Great Camera
120 hz display
So, do you recommend a 5-watt or 20-watt adapter for the 14 pro max? which causes more damage to the battery?
it is heat that causes damage, so if you not in a hurry I always a low wattage
great one year test ! :)
I have huawei charger 5v .. Is it ok to charge iphone14pro max sir please tell
i have iphone 11 2yrs and 8 months battery health 85% only charge with 5 w adapter not obsession with fast charging at all considering ti upgrade to 14pm soon and will continue to use 5w adapter
Pretty good. Good example of the importance of the 5W. Do the same for the 14 Pro Max
This is what I think about the most and what I follow the most. So I want to ask you something, do you update the apps. Do you update the ios software? Have you always kept the phone up to date as applications and ios software. Were there times when you did the iOS software and did not update the applications. 14 promax 94% batter healt i did same things We charged our phone with almost the same logic.
Thanks for sharing your POV. Happy Holidays
The drop test joke was so witty😂. But Hmmm, I was really thinking of getting a wireless charger (especially after the last video), so maybe I’ll reconsider that
let me know what you decide. And thanks for watching my videos!
my iPhone 14 Pro is down to 88% battery health after 15months. I use the belkin magsafe charger and have 3hrs of screen time daily. Not sure why it's dropped so much.
Hi, it is a bit below average, but not something to really worry about. A lot depends on the climate where you live as well. In addition to my tips you might consider a wired charger with a low wattage
Is charging iphone out of the case much better than with case since you mentioned that battery heat from charging can contribute to fast deterioration of battery?
yes, you are right, technically that is better
Hey @DionMedia
What iOS version were you on?
MFI made by Apple cables and charger blocks on every charge on my iPhone 14 Plus
Great!
my 14 PM is 45 days old and already battery health is at 98%.. . Not happy with screen on time battery drain is more post upgrading to IOS 17 betas
Thanks for your Encouragement and support, got something special for you
I still use my iPhone xr rn, the battery health is 86% i used it for 5 years never change the battery. I always charged my phone at 30-40% never used it below 30%
Thanks for sharing
Just saw this vid again, I really would like to have the iPhone 15 pro, but what about that one? Is there any 5w charging brick with usb C?
Yes, there is
thanks so much for this video. I was almost sick to my stomach because I just purchased the iPhone 14 pro at Koodo with an offer that I just couldn't ignore. new phone with 1 TB for only 800 Canadian dollars and thought I made a mistake. but now that I know this vital info I feel better.
I do have a concern, I have an 8-Port USB charger that says in the back USB Output: 5V===12A (max) / Each port 2.4A,
Could you please tell me if that is ok for overnight charging?
Hi, sorry for the late reaction. First of all, great price. Concerning the charger. I would go for a single port charger, 5W, overnight charging
My 14 pro max is at 94%. The crazy thing is that not even 5 months ago it was 100%. It went down 6% within a month
Sorry to hear, that is a rapid decrease.
It’s safe to charge 15 pro max with apple 5 watt adapter with Samsung type c cable??
Yes it is!
Very nice review! Should I let my iPhone 14 pro max drop down to about 21% before charging it? Is that a recommended range to let it drop down before charging it without causing Long-Term damage to the battery? What is the recommended battery range to wait before charging it?
HI, good question. Research in inconclusive, and that is why I did not mention it in the video, but if we use as starting point that the less cycles the better, then it seems logic to drop as much as possible before recharging it.
my 14 pro is at 90% at 13 months is that normal can i go to apple and will they replace the battery under warranty?
That is within the acceptable range.
Thank you sir you once again helped me understand my phone
I’m happy you spoke about of the phone will over charge after being plugged in still at 100 I’ve been scared 😂 looking foward to more tips
Your phone is your friend. Do not be afraid :). The 100% thing is unknown to many people
What about charging my iPhone using MacBook laptop? How’s that.
it has a lower watt, on the slow side, but it should be fine! It is convenient, that is for sure
@@DionMedia actually charging my iPhone using MacBook makes the phone charge rather quick and makes it warm.
Hey thanks for the video! Very helpful, will use these tips for my iPhone 15 pro max that is coming this Friday. My 13’s battery went down the drain due to excessive use of MagSafe charging. I’m gonna follow your advise, ordered an oldskool 5w apple brick, and a usb-a to USB-c IF certified cable. Hopefully that will keep my phone healthy!
MagSafe doesn’t ruin battery health lol
That big charger, or the gan prime from Anker can charge TWO phones, for example, yours and your coworker, at top speed…OR your 14PM AND your iPADPro 12.9 overbite with smart charge turned on…..
Amazing .. mine is at 88% after 11mths….. will replace it once it hits 70-80% as I decided to skip doing an upgrade this year which i use to do annually since IP4s
how many hours can lasts my iphone 13 with 80% of battery health?
heres a cap, battery also needs heat to operate appropriately because of the materials used.
(sorry about my poor English 😂)
if i use oneplus 65 watt charger in my 15 pro max does it produce more heat then iphone 30 waat chager
My mom's iphone 13 battery capacity is 87%, why it's not 100% anymore? Is it because of she used her phone while charging? Like watching in yt while charging?
Difficult to say. How many cycles did she charge? How did she charge etc? Many variables
I've had my iPhone 13 mini for 8 months now and I've been charging every night with Apple's 5W brick. Sometimes I charge it with the 20W brick and very few times I've charged it with magsafe. My battery health is at 91% and I have no idea why. Ok sometimes the phone reached temps of over 42 C while charging even on 5W, but i dont think thats enough to get it to 91% so fast
I have my 13 mini I charge with 20w it has 1 year and one month and battery health is 92 % 🙈
7.5w wireless chargers are the best for me. 14 pro max still on 100%.
ive always used fast charger on my 13 pro and didnt care when i charged and after a year and a half its at 86% battery health
iPhone X after almost 6 years at 84%.
not bad!!!
@@DionMedia Iphone 11 Pro (82%)
love your conclusion :)
Which iOS version you're on?
Always the latest
how about leaving the iphone 14PM on a charger during the day?
I wake up, unplug my iphone from 5w wired charger, head to work and put it on a magsafe stand at 100% ALL day. Plug it back in at night before bed. cycle continues. Is that good for the battery? even though It says 100% but I feel my battery capacity degraded, doesn't even last 6 hours during full use w/o charge. Is this a software issue?
Great you use the 5W charger during the night. I would not suggest to leave it on the charger the whole day
@@DionMedia everything is apple’s 5w charger. Even wireless. Why not leave it during the day? Shouldn’t it stop charging at 100?
Mine 14 pro max is on 92% battery after 13,5 moths of use with a 20w charger is that good
Hi, that is ok, well within limits.
Hi Dion. Great video as always. What about the battery life after ios 16.6 update. Do you think its better and should i update? The only thing that bothers me with my 14 pro is battery life, and i hear ppl saying that its significantly better with the 16.6 ios
Hi, I have not noticed a difference
Has anyone ever said you look like Robby Shapiro from Victorious?
I have been named quite a few persons, but this one not yet. I will add it to the list :)
