Primal Knowledge is basically getting so frustrated when you can't solve a math problem that you force the universe to just tell you the god damned answer.
Honestly, besides being mechanically consistent (hey, bonus action to start rage, bonus action to maintain rage) it even makes narrative sense, because as you start using your bonus action for utility again (you know, not fighting) your character comes closer back to reality and less consumed by the Rage 🤔
I love having all of those choices, in the “Totem Warrior” the new Wildheart. The more options the better. I just hope that the Elk with the increased mobility features, is still an option. That one is my favorite. Please Wotc have those options still be able to be chosen!
About 17 minutes in you say something that isn't quite accurate. You claim that people thought they had to choose the same animal totems in the original version of Path of the Totem Warrior because they saw the same animals reappearing in each feature. While this is true, it leaves out the fact that the subclass description discourages choosing different animals, saying it is very rare for someone to have multiple types of totem animals. It said that you *could* use multiple, but to me it heavily implied that you shouldn't without consulting your DM.
Wish they visited Path of the Beast for this new system that uses rage outside of combat. Lot of options they could of added to further this within the theme that also isn't as aggressive as growing claws/tail/mandible.
@@billyjoemaurillo929 its every time they gain a fighter level, instead of every time they get an ASI. One Weapon Mastery can be swapped on a long rest, like practicing weapon drills. Fighting Styles should probably require more than a few hours of practice and a sleep to change.
They made Barbarian, Rogue, and Fighter so damn cool! Haven't checked out the other ones yet aside from Paladin and Ranger (which are disappointing) but so far these are awesome.
Path of the World Tree, I can see a campaign where you are slightly sapping the World Tree's energy every time you use it. If it's just a few barbs, it's NO PROBLEM. But when it's a few groups of barbs, it can cause instability to the World Tree. Could be a good campaign, if you play it as a plane-jumping hunt.
I really like the little clarification for the zealot barbarian that they need not necessarily worship and particular god, or gods in general and can instead be linked to a different kind of divine source. I am currently playing a zealot barbarian who actually dislikes so many people's blind following of gods and instead draws power from the belief in his own potential.
So if I get this right, while you are raging you can use strength for persuasion or intimidation (and a few others) but rage also gives you advantage on strength checks. So barbarian can actually be a party face 😮. Probably not as good as charisma based classes but still, that's pretty cool
I Reread Primal Knowledge on the UA and I really want to know how you Rage Sneak. Least Persuasion isn't on the list, I want to Rage Seduce the barmaid ain't right.
I am so excited for these updates! I love playing a barb and now being able to use strength for intimidation checks just feels right. I do however wish they would change how dual wielding off hand attacks works. With so many other things costing a bonus action dual wielding never feels good on any melee class. Like when i think of berserker I think of 2 hand axes or battle axes and just being a whirlwind of steel. But with frenzied strike, rage, and other things being tied to bonus actions the default is always just using a 2h weapon and using either the frenzy bonus attack or GWM bonus attack. I know they are adding the nick mastery for light weapon dual wielding, but I think if you took the dual wield fight style or feat that you would be able to make additional off hand attacks up to the amount of extra attacks you would get from your attack action. That way you would really feel like a true dual wielder instead of, "im going to swing with my main hand 4 times and then my off hand once" as a fighter.
I wonder if Brutal Strike was intended to be used once per turn. I think thw wording drom the last playtest confused me a bit, since it is unclear when you "use Reckless Attack". Do you use it when you first declare you will attack recklessly or do you use it every time you attack, since you are using the advantage gained from it?
One of the most important parts of a tank is forcing your enemy to target you. It sounds like path of the world tree might be pretty good at that. Pretty excited about that!
I really hope the zelott still has the feature that makes it easier to resurrect. I really like the theme that this person is a warrior that can basically be summoned without cost and is basically a summon. Please please please don't touch that
@@barcster2003 I saw that, but it seems like he said it was replacing it. If that is gone, I'd be down to to tell a player they can swap it back cause it's just so cool thematically
This could've been the opportunity to make Artificers cool. But looks like they'll be left behind. Especially since all other classes are free on DnD beyond. So that's another barrier to entry
That ability to use strength for other abilities will make my homebrew Path of the Hulking Transformation feature difficult. It replaces all Strength checks and attacks with INT.
The main problem I encountered playing the Barbarian was problems with rage. but in the voiced fix, everything will be fine for barbarians up to level 14. But here an alternative point arises: in high-level adventures from level 16 to 20, the barbarian feels very weak, especially in the example of a warrior. Will you touch his peak form? is this an epic of power and fury, so to speak, his final version of the barbarian in DND?
@lazerrhino You aren't but a barbarian is. Strength isn't just flexing but also your ability to stop a maul or hammer. Also muscle definitely helps resist damage, wether it be blunt or slashing damage
Is it bad that I’m not crazy upset by any of the new changes I’ve seen? Like, I get the vibe from the comments that I should be angry and up in arms, but I’m not.
Geez they better be altering the Monster Manual pretty heavily. Every class is getting buffed to OP levels. Here’s hoping every single encounter isnt going to be over in one round.
I like Primal Knowledge. I don't care if Insight is on the default list, I'm adding it. Barbarian looms over someone and glowers at them, narrows their eyes and their Danger Sense tells them... something about what this person is saying is wrong. They're lying to you. The Stealth check could be because they silently hurl an object 50 yards away, distracting the guards while they sneak through.
Glad to see barbarians getting to use STR for more, but hate making them use a rage just to be good at a skill outside of combat. Just attach the bonus to subclasses or something else. They are already stretched for stats.
Anyone else feel like Primal Knowledge sucks? You can use it on Acrobatics, Intimidation, Perception, Stealth, or Survival. You get to use strength for the check and since you are raging, you get advantage. Why does it use up a rage though? That cost is too high to be worth it. You can maintain a rage for 10 minutes, but how many of these checks will you make in a 10 minute span? I'd say you would be lucky to get 3 checks. You probably aren't chaining stealth checks. Once you try to intimidate someone, you'll either get what you need or you won't be allowed to try again. You usually won't be hiven multiple perception or survival checks in 10 minutes. And the chance of you neesing multiple Acrobatics checks in 10 minutes is low. Barbs shouldn't have to spend their combat resources to have any out of combat use, because then they won't be useful in combat (without rages) and are basically just a worse fighter. Not being able to rage in combat also locks you out of most of your subclass features most times. Reckless attack is hard to justify most times without rage resistance.
Really fun new features. Amazing job, but me as a DM is looking forward to the new monster book to counter some of all this. As of now it seems most of the dangers of being an adventurer is gone. Might be that I have played since 1983, times where different. Love your work and I will keep reading and listening.

Warlocks together we can summon our class video by collectively beseeching our patrons to release the video 🙌🏾 *summoning warlock video*
I like that Berserker is tightened up.
The Karen Barbarian who Rages in stores, maintains it with their bonus action, and uses Strength to "speak with the manager" 😂
The problem with that is that nobody is actually persuaded by Karens.
@@tofubaba1315 They just need a higher Strength 😉
Allows them to avoid minions and get to bosses.
@@Poduma_ that just means Karens are using intimidation, not persuasion
Who knows, they probably will in a future book!
Wildheart can change their always-on power with a long rest, but fighter can't change their Fighting Style with a long rest?
They can now actually, I think it was mentioned in the Fighter video.
@@billyjoemaurillo929 its every time they gain a fighter level, instead of every time they get an ASI. One Weapon Mastery can be swapped on a long rest, like practicing weapon drills.
Fighting Styles should probably require more than a few hours of practice and a sleep to change.
@@ChicCanyon they...don't need to swap them, they're all active all the time
I appreciate the thought and care put into revising the classes (and the whole game, really). I look forward to channeling the power of salmon.
I believe that Persuasion was mistakenly said. You might be able to find videos by youtubers who have early copies.
Bonus action to maintain rage?! YES! Thank you! 🙏 👍🤩
Wait, what? Is he fucking cooking for the first time?
I love that the rage is now something you can use outside of combat. Thank you. Barbarians needed more outside of combat features.
Relentless Rage is no longer stepping on a rake. "Get up, smack them, and then fall back down"
Really like the Zealot Barb changes. I've been playing one in a high level campaign and it's a blast.
"you get to choose the animal every time"
BRAAAVE-STAR!
I Reread Primal Knowledge on the UA and I really want to know how you Rage Sneak. Least Persuasion isn't on the list, I want to Rage Seduce the barmaid ain't right.
I would love to see some attack options in the Wild Heart as in the BG3.
That way you would really feel like a true dual wielder instead of, "im going to swing with my main hand 4 times and then my off hand once" as a fighter.
world tree barb sounds like the barbarian version of a twilight cleric, sounds really cool
Hey yall, the timestamp for the path of the zealot is a great deal later than it should be. Put it at 21:53.
thx bro :)
Bonus action to sustain is awesome but most DM’s give you time to act regardless, any combat beyond 10 rounds are high level battles!
One of the most important parts of a tank is forcing your enemy to target you. It sounds like path of the world tree might be pretty good at that. Pretty excited about that!
I hope that there are statements in the PHB that the DM makes the final decision if something is allowed and appropriate.
That has always been the case
Imagine having this new barbarian as a leonin in DnD especially as a berserker that would be terrifying to the enemy.
I really hope the zelott still has the feature that makes it easier to resurrect. I really like the theme that this person is a warrior that can basically be summoned without cost and is basically a summon. Please please please don't touch that
They gave them a lay on hands for self ability instead.
I'm pretty sure the resurrection ability is gone.
@@barcster2003 I saw that, but it seems like he said it was replacing it. If that is gone, I'd be down to to tell a player they can swap it back cause it's just so cool thematically
During the UA it was both, so hopefully he just misspoke.
@@rhylin26 I pray to Helm you're right
@rhylin26 well we know they've made changes so maybe they increased the healing and axed the death benefit.
I'm so looking forward to open these new books and flesh out so great PC's.
Hoping to finish up my campaign by the time these drop!
This could've been the opportunity to make Artificers cool. But looks like they'll be left behind. Especially since all other classes are free on DnD beyond. So that's another barrier to entry
Battlerager better have some love. That subclass is iconic and it's so very underwhelming as it is.
The barbarian slapping themselves to keep raging
I'm looking forward to this one
Also very curious about the rogue and about sorcerer subclasses
Like what subclasses will be included or just the mechanics of the subclasses? They announced what the sorc subclasses will be already I believe.
@@oshermdaddy2058 yep: draconic, wild magic, clockwork soul, and aberrant mind.
I was suspecting I would see Dungeons & Dragons 4e mechanics and here it is in the Barbarian.
00:32 What type of grip is that? You want your hands farther apart for greater reach and power.
It's called "I'm an artist who doesn't know how to hold a weapon" grip.
Half-swording but with axe?
maybe his arm got tired poor guy
That ability to use strength for other abilities will make my homebrew Path of the Hulking Transformation feature difficult. It replaces all Strength checks and attacks with INT.
So the path of the wild-heart is basically being like BraveStarr "Strength of the Bear, Speed of the Puma, Eyes of the Hawk, Ears of the Wolf!"
I want barbarians to be able to use strength for their unarmed defense instead of dexterity.
I dont, it doesnt make sense. Youre not stopping an axe from sinking into your flesh by flexing.
@lazerrhino You aren't but a barbarian is. Strength isn't just flexing but also your ability to stop a maul or hammer. Also muscle definitely helps resist damage, wether it be blunt or slashing damage
@@lazerrhinoyou're not...but you could and would be freaking cool
and I want wizards to be able to use Int for HP instead of Con lmfao
@@djsnoflake the two don't correlate
I’m curious with Druids
hope they don't butcher moon
Is it bad that I’m not crazy upset by any of the new changes I’ve seen? Like, I get the vibe from the comments that I should be angry and up in arms, but I’m not.
The Berserker genuinely sounds terrifying now.
Geez they better be altering the Monster Manual pretty heavily. Every class is getting buffed to OP levels. Here’s hoping every single encounter isnt going to be over in one round.
My question on instinctive pounce is that does this count against movement speed? Or is it an additional movement speed for activating rage?
Going off the UA, it's an extra move you get when you rage
I like Primal Knowledge. I don't care if Insight is on the default list, I'm adding it. Barbarian looms over someone and glowers at them, narrows their eyes and their Danger Sense tells them... something about what this person is saying is wrong. They're lying to you.
The Stealth check could be because they silently hurl an object 50 yards away, distracting the guards while they sneak through.
Rage Insight makes more sense than Rage Persuasion.
@@tofubaba1315your under arrest!
Me the barb proceed to show my abbs
@Playradise then call it something other than rage
@Playradise I’m quite fine thanks
@Playradise apparently they misspoke and meant perception rather than persuasion, which I’m fine with, but also sides with my side of the argument
RAWR! My Beast-barian is not happy!
Warlock and Wizard next please and thank you.
They seem to be doing Martials first, then spellcasters
I play-tested the new barbarian, and as someone who really dislikes melee classes, I thought it was really fun!
Oh wow, this will date Fantasy High season 3, because now, there is such a thing as barbarian healing
these videos need some text on screen to highlight each new change
I just need to see Ranger info, there were barely any changes in the UA so I need to see if anything’s different
Sad they got rid of the Zelot undeath that was the feature that made me choose the class.
I would want the capstone for world tree barb to let you use plane shift.
Glad to see barbarians getting to use STR for more, but hate making them use a rage just to be good at a skill outside of combat. Just attach the bonus to subclasses or something else. They are already stretched for stats.
Anyone else feel like Primal Knowledge sucks?
You can use it on
Acrobatics, Intimidation,
Perception, Stealth, or Survival.
It sounds like the overriding philosophy for the 2024 Rules is "As long as the Players are having fun, it's good," which is great... Sadistic RAW DMs everywhere will now be pushing Homebrew Rules from AD&D with a Tomb of Horror's flavor.
You play with bad DMs.
@@Creepernom My DM is actually good and fair. I was referring to all of the RAW DMs on Reddit or some of the DM moderators on D&D Beyond Discord who are Pedant Trolls,
Nah, I think they just stopped playing 5e like I did
Palas weren't too happy with their vid
Forgo Advantage from Reckless... does that mean you can get advantage from something else, forgo the advantage from reckless and still have advantage but gain the benefits of the class feature?
Are we getting all of the other class previews as well? Love to hear about Druid and Warlock.
they're basically releasing one a day
Wild Heart sounds fun!
All these martials updates are great, but honestly I'm just waiting to see if the Sorcerer is a viable class or still a suboptimal Wizard.
The one from UA7 was not promising and kinda messed up, hopefully they've listened to the community since then 🤔
When you guys get to Sorcerer, can you correct ONE thing! *SORCERERS should be Constitution Casters (Power Overwealming)* not Charisma Casters (They are Not Warlocks who need to convince a Patron or a Bard who entertains) 🙃
So far all I'm seeing in these videos is all reward with zero risk. Heaven forbid players get punished for their mistakes.
Barbarians still got my bloody pumping heart in their hand.
These changes are great! A lot of fun choices for barbarian players.
I like some subclasses more than others. I sure hope I can buy them individually still. ;)
Im curious how Frenzy will work with Brutal Strikes. Can you only use one at a time?
You'll probably be able to stack them
Barbarian was my first Class playing DnD
The new Berserker Subclass sounds like the Subclass I really wanted. But the exhaustion condition made me to pick an other subclass
I am hoping Call Emotions get a clause for Rage. It feels wrong that is no longer can be used to counter a Rage by pausing combat for a round. How is a barbarian able to use a bonus action to maintain rage when can't feel that rage?
Bravestarr
Strength of the bear, speed of the puma, ears of the wolf, eyes of the hawk.
