A great first car to purchase indeed I love the shape and the balance of the chassis. For a track car...that GR86 cup car about 125k is a great route but could be a debate considering the Mx-5 Cup is about 60k. So it's really on how you view the platform great potential here for great cost effective platform.
I have a msrp gr86 coming next month and I'm thinking about the same thing. I'll probably stick with the gr86 for now because of the cheaper price, i don't need 4 wheel drive, and i don't need 4 doors, i like less weight. Also it seems the issue can be mitigated with something like accusump.
Where's the Miata video? Can you swap the Japanese head unit to the U.S models? The JDM got the full screen without any buttons which look nicer and bigger.
considering the engine issues which is not being addressed, calling this car "a lot of car for 32k" is a bit laughable. For a bit less you can get a Miata and for a bit more you can get something like an Audi A4 or BMW or most other mid range coupe models with far more modern and better interior and engines. If they didnt have the glaring issue of RTV overuse than you would have a point but considering that this problem doesnt seem to be addressed (and in combination with toyotas horrible costumer service) its better to go with a Miata MX5 for less money
I’m gonna have to disagree on this being “a lot of car for $32k”. You cannot compare this to a Miata, and call it “practical”. A GTI is practical. This isn’t. The 2023 WRX is the same price, is a lot more practical, is AWD, and has a lot more power. That car is a lot of car for the money. This isn’t. This car should be $26k max, considering how slow it is to basically anything else…
Is the gti a bespoke chassis? No. The gr86 is. Is it rwd? No. The wrx is 464 lbs heavier…..I don’t care if it has more hp. Weight is the enemy of fun. This car is 68% of the avg new car MSRP. 26k? You’re not operating in reality…..the fact that these are hard to find and you can buy GTIs and wrxs all day at list is the market telling you you’re wrong
I fit my mountain bike in my gr86s trunk and take it up to the trails all the time. Please explain how I'd accomplish that in a Miata. I bought a new 55"x24" desk and fit it fine.
The 86/brz actually is faster than the wrx in a straight line due to the weight difference and awd power loss. For a single person, 90% of sport coupes are practical enough with stuff like the Miata and Elise being exceptions. You can't drift a Golf and it needs way more mods to be able to handle as well as a stock 86.
Special thanks to our Patreons for their support of the channel! GR86 or Mazda Miata?
Uhhh 😬 Miata obviously
Are these Canadian prices

I have literally read this comment on another RUclips video. The alcantara above the cluster is to mitigate windshield glare
I can never get enought of the 86
Saaammeee 😎
Well one thing is stay away from big trucks.....get blown off the road....but love mine....got the cvt auto, im old....and it always turns heads
Honestly the performance pack 86 is top of mind but I'm seriously considering a GR Corolla due to the engine issues cropping up

Why is it 40k in europe?
cause import taxes
Great car, glad we have it, but I’m a Miata person all day
Fair play 💯
MX5 ND2 has superior quality materials interior , & EXCELLENT QUALITY & reliable engine Unlike “Gasket GR86 Engine failures “
As if 30k is little money
It is

How many engines have blew up due to RTV?
This copy paste is so annoying to keep reading

Sounds like someone who only drives in a straight line.

The cheap plastic interior can NOT BE COMPARED TO THE MX5 , the 86 Gasket issues ending in engine failures is a disaster .
