Good review as usual but I recommend you read the first 2 chapters of the Berserk manga because it covers his brand on his neck and the arrow/cannon arm combo he has so that is just a little bit of research that could have been done before doing this review. They are really well written and that was the bare amount of research I did so far. In my opinion, great figures are appreciated more after you check out the source material. Glad your figure stayed in one piece, excited for mine coming next month.

I recently received my copy of Guts and I'm desperate. How do I attach the neck armor piece without damaging the ring where the cloak is inserted? The triangular part of the neck armor piece fits but the small ball very tight. I'm afraid if damaging the ring where the cloak is inserted...
Even with its faults, which I definitely acknowledge, I'm still excited to be getting this figure. It may not be perfect, but if I ended up missing out like I did with the Figma, down the line, I know a part of me will be thinking "Ya'kno it actually wasn't that bad looking back. What the hell was I smoking?" lol. Seeing the prototype sculpt, I'm fine with chalking the arms up to artistic interpretation hehehe. UPDATE: I just got the figure and HOLY SH- People were not wrong about the QC! Nothing broke thankfully, it's just immediately out of the box it's almost as if it was assembled incorrectly. Crooked Upper body, crooked feet, which I managed to fix, but god damn the knee and ankle joints are some of the loosest things I've experienced on an import! Now it looks really good, and I still stand by that I don't mind the arms, in fact I quite like them so I don't necessarily regret buying the figure. That said these are issues I should not be experiencing on Tamashii figures and I am incredibly disappointed that this is the level of quality they're charging people for. I'm most likely gonna get a stand for it down the line, but in the meantime, he's staying in the box.

Just for reference since you mentioned being disappointed in there not being a fisted hand for the prosthetic arm, the character can't actually close his hand into a fist, to fit in line with the limited technology within that world. The only way that the character holds onto his sword is through the use of strong magnets in his hand and thesword basically being a slab of iron.
I wish I'd imported this guy as I'm still waiting for BBTS to ship mine. It's not a perfect figure, but it seems like a lot of the compromises were made for poseability and fun factor, so I can get behind it. It's just great to be able to get a good Guts for my shelf without spending big money. The reason the figure looks more 'realistic' than your standard SHF with the shading etc is because that's a fair representation of how good the art in the manga is. Nearly every page could be a poster. I'm glad you didn't let the weird gatekeepers stop you enjoying this figure.

I don't know if it's an issue specific to mine, but swapping the hands is borderline impossible to the point where I've just temporarily stopped trying before I break the figure. Waist feels super loose too.
@@EvilRobotSteve Bandai tamashii has had really bad QC lately. while I like the figure and nothing is wrong with my copy, I hate the small, loose wrist pegs and and I'm working on modding them to be more stable.
My 2 cents I want more people to buy more berserk merch so they make more its not like its a limited number its a mass production figure and the start of the line I want ot to sell so I can have more berserk made and people who think it looks cool have more and diehards have more berserk merch to buy
As a Berserk manga reader and fan, I'm very happy to see you finally review this figure and support this line. It's okay to wanna buy a figure just cause it looks cool, we need to end the gatekeeping in the community man. Another solid review btw, hope you do one for Griffith and Berserker Guts. 👍

As excited as I was for this figure I gotta say after finally getting it I’m very disappointed, I’ve never had a figure that I equally love and hate. I hate trying to lose him running the risk of something breaking as well as him being very loose in areas. Certain joints simply don’t work like his right knee won’t bend even though the left one will easily, and the peg for his his hands is atrocious. Spent a while just trying to fit his hand on and he can barely balance the dragon slayer in it without it popping off. I’m very worried about the next one and I hope they make some major improvements
Thinks i like about the figure in hand are the sculpt, paint and overall proportions. Articulation is nice too. Now for my gripes, i hate the plastic used for the brown straps. They usually use a soft plastic for things like that so that would have been much better. Its not super fragile cause ive been posing him around a bit, but it does feel scary cause it feels like it’ll be more prone to breakage. Its odd cause for his armor pieces they used a soft plastic. Another thing i found so damn dumb was not using ball pegs for the hands. He literally has a big ass sword. So the hands come off super easy. I ended up swapping his sword holding hand with a peg with a ball and it helps quite a bit. Also the collar armor piece comes off way too damn much. I just ended up super gluing it cause why would i want it off anyways
my figure broke when i bent the knee the first time. probably a defect for mine but otherwise i really want to like it but those small pegs really suck

Just to clarify some things, he does have really faithfull to some panels of him just standing there, his arms do look long on some of those panels at this point of the story, and yes, he was more muscular before, but he is skinnier when he wears this armor because of things that happen, not gonna enter into spoilers. And of course, really nice video, just enjoy the figure, no matter if you've read it or not, keep up the hard work
Great review. I think I'll still end up picking up this Guts even with all the issues I've been hearing about. You should check out Tony Mei's torso mod for Guts. I think part of why it looks so off is that the torso is very short, with the mod it's much more proportional while also giving him some height.

The engineering here is just not it for me. In the series, while the guy's well built and trained, it's still astonishing how well he's able to handle the Dragonslayer?(Think that's what the sword's called) because he's still got regular anatomy. The proportions on this guy are too inaccurate for me to take it seriously, I do love the face plates and accessories, neck tattoo coulda been a bit smaller. There's just so much wrong in this build compared to the series that I'll just wait for another company to attempt this
I would never ever buy a figure this expensive if i dont like the character or the series at least... But well it's on you i guess, and its your money...

I honestly find this figure really disappointing. It feels incredibly fragile and cheap despite it's premium price. His hands popping off easily also really sucks. So all in all this is my personal biggest flop ever when it comes to figures

I feel like he should’ve been a bit taller. Doesn’t feel right seeing him be smaller than the tengen.
To be fair, buzzmod figures are scaled a bit larger than most other 1/12 figure lines
