The opening drone footage was impossibly beautiful. After photographing Aspen in the wilderness outside Bishop, California, I fell in love with them. One of the most underappreciated living things on Earth. I suspect most people don't know that a stand or group of aspen trees is considered a singular organism, with each tree a genetic match to the others. The oldest living organism on Earth is a stand of Aspen that has lived 80,000 years in Fishlake National Forest, Utah.
I agree about that opening shot, and the almost "Interstellar-esque" soundtrack was hauntingly beautiful!
In 1992 the title (from memory) went to the Armillaria bulbosa fungus or 'Honey fungus' in Michigan. The fungus age doesn't approach the age of the Aspen you've stated, however so, thanks for the info.
@@19Photographer76 That honey fungus has the title of largest (by area i believe), but the oldest and most massive is the Pando clone in Utah.

Gavin, I think there was previous Quiet Light video where we were allowed to see the inside of Dr. Jackson’s camper. However it was not a full tour like your recent blog, Sir Gavin.😳

off camera flash with a gel / softbox could be interesting experiment on really flat light days. even if its not traditionally a part of landscape photography

Your drone footage of this beautiful location is wonderful. Surely this is one of the most beautiful landscapes on earth. Those aspens are so lovely. I live in the UK, so to me the Canadian landscapes are pure magic.

Seeing the opening sequence the words "Fk right off" sprang to mind, the intensity and strength of those words only grew as the time passed! :-) Stunning location and colours!
Thanks Adam for the vlog. Gorgeous fall color scenery. Also a good example of concentration on the “intimate landscape”, instead of the “grand landscape”. But that’s what needs to be done when there are persistent overcast skies.

I’ve been using the Sunwayfoto gear head since I saw your past video and is really good of course some little improvement but compared (in price) with the other brands is a really good solution. Thanks Adam!

Abraham Lake is a wonder in all seasons. Just one thing, not to malign you, but it's Maligne (/məˈliːn/ mə-LEEN) Lake. :) Also when you get there it's about an 8km paddle down to Spirit Island where the classic lake shots have been taken.

Adam - gorgeous drone shots bookending the video, and the pattern shots of the aspen leaves turned out beautifully.
I miss getting out into the mountains with my camera - living in BC sure has its advantages! Hopefully 2021 will bring more opportunities. In the meantime I finally ordered a copy of your book, and can't wait for it to arrive. :)

LOl I just had my most challenging ever. Drumheller, Alberta this weekend. Weather and light changing every minute. Had to wok hard on the compositions which I am happy with thanks to your videos and giving me the where with all to pull off some great shots
