- Concert was on Saturday night, 12/30/2023, at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. Willie Watson was one of their opening acts and played several songs with the group. Molly Tuttle played guitar. The "Critter" Fugua in the yellow shirt played banjo on a few numbers. Cory Younts was playing piano on this number (nice enough to shake my hand). Ketch Secor who wrote the majority of the words for the song was playing fiddle and singing his heart out. Morgan Jahnog was playing the upright bass, while Mason Via (wearing his LBJ Open Road Hat) was on guitar. PJ George played fiddle and hand organ. Dante' Pope was on drums. Mike Harris was playing a Les Paul Gibson guitar most of the night. Sami Braman (in the blue jumpsuit) was playing fiddle for Willie. Ben Gould played a Upright Bass for Willie as well.

Even though the hooty guy made them plenty of mailbox money; I still find it appalling, even more appalling on the public for not recognizing the true genius of the tune which belongs to OCMS.

Ole Ketch played the hell out of his fiddle that night. He poured all his energy into that concert. Even a cold heart bastard could not be impressed with their version of this song.

I have been watching Molly Tuttle here on RUclips since she was about 12 years old. She has become a widely praised singer and guitar picker; and better looking. There is another video here of her singing and picking with the same folks. Somebody wrote that she and Ketch are an item. Well, is is taking the time and making the effort to look great; not before this.

That pretty much sucks! They gutted Bob Dylan's song and yes Bob Dylan wrote it !
"Technically" the version OCMS is performing is a combination of Dylan's lyrics and OCMS lyrics. Specifically, Dylan wrote the chorus verses and Ketch did the verses. In fact, the verse "headed west from the Cumberland Gap to Johnson City, Tennessee" is nonsensical - because that's the wrong direction, but Ketch put it in there for fun.
Bob never finished the song. I remember his original version; just a chorus and some different lyrics. Not a song as much as Bob trying to write one, and he appropriated the chorus from an older tune Heard it on a bootleg and later in an outtakes collection. Ketch heard it and asked for Bob's approval to finish it.
Bob was happy to sign half of the writing credits over to them as a co-written song. You need to get your facts right.
Even Bob Dylan cast offs become epic songs!! And the songverse is full of covers of Dylan that overwhelm the original (Adele "Make You Feel My Love" and the ultimate Hendrix "All Along the Watchtower"). And Bob doesn't need anyone to defend him (he clearly detests that) he just wants the royalty payments.
Darius Rucker is the only version anyone knows.
