  • In the early part of the 20th Century, racetracks became a battleground for gangs across the country. A Birmingham gang called the Brummagems was top dog and built up a criminal network extending far beyond their city. Over 80 years later, Birmingham gangs were an even deadlier proposition and a drive by shooting with a machine gun killing innocent bystanders shocked the nation. It stemmed from a sinister but juvenile gangland where guns were a fashion accessory and shootings carried out in broad daylight.
Brothers Gary and Martin look at the gangs of Birmingham, Britain's second city, old and new, to see how gang crime has evolved and the steps taken to tackle it. They investigate the stories of two landmark gang attacks and two courageous individuals who put their lives on the line to bring the culprits to justice.
Gary and Martin Kemp take the viewer on an immersive journey across the UK in which they reveal who ran and who now runs gangland Britain.

Wow this was a really good documentary. Never really thought that Billy Kimble was an actual person, who used to be a member of the Peaky Blinders as a teenager. I learned alot from this video.

As A Brummie who as read nearly every History Book and watched loads of History Video's on Birmingham, it seems rather odd that the name Peaky Blinders as a gang or gangs do not appear any where in these publications and video's and only surfaced to make a TV show based on Birmingham Gangs. There were loads of Gangs in Birmingham during the Victorian and Edwardian periods but were not called peaky blinders. The term steps from a dress style by young ruffians and working class people of the day when every man wore a hat determined by his status and so did the ruffians of the day and the term Peaky Blinder has nothing to do with razor blades n peak caps but that young man wore their hair with a quiff that covered one eye and wore their peaked cap on the same side as the quiff of hair covering the sight of one eye hence the name Peaky Blinder and that interpretation was first told by a Birmingham Historian Dr Carl Chinn

Newspapers from the 1890's mentioned the "Peaky Blinders". Originally "Slogging Gangs".

Its a culture of hurtlesness...fear , drugs , poverty of the mind , a restless soul that is so lost is looking for belonging in the wrong ways and places...here in the USA is part of the thread of society from the top...a sad and criminal reality where femineside is at all time high as well...
