yeah I miss the separation of ranked, unranked was my time to lowkey int trying new items and builds and heroes. and now there's no comms or try harding in my games
I've noticed the comms decrease after this patch. I used to only play ranked, so i have definitely noticed the more casual players that don't like to communicate as much in my games, or just don't have mics at all. I'm okay with this though, as i'm sure it helps them to focus on one thing at a time, and there just aren't as many players. But I definitely agree with you. Hopefully the people that just want to run it down and be goofy will get dropped to their respective elos. Also, loved the spreadsheets. I'm an accountant, so seeing information presented in that way makes me happy!

I think the walkers buffing characters is awesome. But the walker being tanker if more enemies are around is lame. Just giving them more overall damage and health is the right way to slow it down. Let players decide how many players to commit to an objective. It's a tradeoff.
The amount of tankiness is smaller than the damage output of attacking heroes. For example, you have 1 attacking hero dealing 1000dps, the walker has 0% resistance. You have 2 players with 1000dps, the walker has 8% resistance (dps for each hero reduced to 920) => 920x2= 1840dps. The difference is so small that it doesn't really matter, you still take down the walker twice as fast. But i agree, walkers should have way more health, at midgame with haze you can easily solo walkers and it feels cheezy
I am very happy about the new rank mode since I usually queue with at least 2 friends of mine, most of the time more than that and since all of them are actually very competetive we have good comms and teamplay (we all have around 6-8k hours in cs) but I would also agree that a separate unranked Q would be helpful to test out new builds or champs that you are not quite familiar with So I guess you just have to find the right teammates that want the same thing as you do - grind or play casual
I had the exact oposite rection to them merging ranked an unranked. As I dont like people taking the game to seriosly in my matches ,and I myself feel like I need to perform better. So matches suddenly feeling really serious made not want to play for a little bit. Now thought (2 days later) the matches are feeling more casual? I guess cuz you cant see the rankings of your fellow teammates and enemeis people dont feel like they need to try as hard anymore. The medals are now just a marker for personal skill progression. One thing to mention is that even before the patch your mmr was shared between modes, the ranked medals were just the way for you to find out what your mmr is. The fact that I ,a only standard match player am somehow acrchon IV with this new patch shows that without even playing ranked that I was goind up in ranked mmr.
They removed unranked. The for fun mode is the hero experimental, its the casual/unbalanced mode thats open 24/7. The serious mode is the ranked mode. I think the comms going down a lot is cause of no longer forced solo q. Stacks rarely communicate outside of their stack. But i also think this change was needed as the matchmaker couldn't create solid matches with the combination of split queues and shrinking playerbase. The skill disparity has gone way, way down in my games at the cost of comms.
ironically...... after these changes, the game feels more toxic and rude. reporting will do nothing, there will be no punishment for being unbearable. XP
What bothers me a bit is the implementation of the hero mmr. You don't lose as much mmr for trying new hero but are placed in the same range that you normally get. This means I could q as my main and get 2 teammates that are trying out hero's, they won't lose much but I will. It just feels like you get sandbagged randomly and probably results in more smurfs
I dropped from ascendant to oracle and my match quality has been really shit ever since the patch. Ranking up seems really fucking difficult as well for some reason for me. I went on a 8 game winning streak without ranking up, then lost 2 games after and i ranked down. System is super fucked for me atm
Personally, as a high MMR one trick, I love the change, I personally don't like queuing for ranked, too much mental expectation, if playing the game ranks me off of how well I can perform on a character, then I'll perform, eventually I'll carry till I can't anymore, and hopefully I have good teammates by that point.
The matchmaking quality for me is way better after the update, much better games on average. Also like the hero mmr, now i can try a different hero without getting absolutely blasted in lane and throwing the game for my team

Also the learning videos you mentioned like showing off Yamato and Geist is extremely intriguing to me and can't wait for them. Please keep up the content and also love the variety no just deadlock I would love to see league videos and marvel rivals as well overall great content as always trik!
Worst decision EVER to remove Ranked Queue. Only trash games now, people feeding, people just leaving, people playing alone and the most dumb ways... Wtf Valve?
first experience after that patch is like i thought after hearing this bs.. every second game some dude is leaving cause he died 2 or 3 times in his lane.. now u have all the quickmatch trolls in your games nice!
making competitive an alpha playtest isn't the best idea and i'm glad valve realized that, the game is not polished enough and the matchmaking is not perfectly tuned for fair and balanced games, the game is still experimenting with a lot of things and making it competitive its just dumb and harmful

Interesting, I find all the games boring now. No one talks, no competitive mindset, everyone just sits around and farms their silly builds. Kinda lame
