Me too.. I heard Dennis chambers talking about him recently as one of his favourite drummers do I decided to check him out and I realize Dennis style n his is very similar. Tell me what u think.
@@tyronecasey9768 Chambers sounds more busy to me. I prefer Husband's use of space. This is ridiculous. He is playing to a track as if he was playing live with other greats in front of ten thousand people. That's intensity!
What a gifted musician Gary is, equally impressive on drums or keyboards. i only came across his music through his association with Mclaughlin but I have now managed to collect just about all his own recordings. What talent!
Gary is definitely one of the very best! Plays keyboards and drums with John McLaughlin and drums with Allan Holdsworth,2 of the best guitar players of all time, so sure he is a genius! Its sickening!
What a simply beautiful and complex piece this is, great! Had to give it a try with a short drum cover - shuffle style: enjoy! ✌🏻🤩 ruclips.net/user/shortsyPiLnhL9TdU?feature=share
Listening to anything which JM puts together, underneath it all, the driving beauty, is the composition and its often overlooked because we are dazzled by the musicianship but having been a devotee for a very long time, JM is one of the greatest composers of the modern age.
I really love this one! Gary is outstanding! I listen to John McLaughlin since I can hear (nearly) :-), he´s my fav. guitarrist, and this track subsummizes all the things I love in his compositions. Its a very nice melody, but I cannot recall it. Its a driving beat - but I cannot count it :-). Its a solemn piece of music, but also virtuos in its microcosmic aspects. I can only bow my head being faced with that genious musicians. Thank you for playing this for us!
If you wanna come it, i believe just count to 15 and that's every phrase, the acccents are more complicated, and you can subdivide how you count to 15 in different ways but 15 is the big number

I just discovered all of the Gary Husband solo albums. I will be buying a album every two weeks until I have them all. I have everything by Level 42. Now it's time to start collecting Gary who is a master musician. Love your excellent work Gary!
Udo Matthias drums Thank you Udo! You are too kind. Come and join me at garyhusband.comfor the new Drum Videocasts series if you are inclined! Best wishes, Gary 😀🙏

oh yes yes gary s work is so wonderfull i love him really ....and it allways remain the great ALLAN H.....so gratitude respect and devotion !!!!!! ( desole je parle pas super l anglais....)
Gary Husband is a phenomenal musician. For someone who looks like he's wielding some of the poorest drum technique (according to some) yet he pulls of some of the most physically intricate and demanding licks ever. Always playing with passion and commitment.
Hello Gary.I don’t see you on Facebook anymore and saddening but I’m sure you have your reasons.Thank you for reaching out to me and inspiring me greatly to push myself harder and better myself.Hope all is awesome with you Gary and wonderful playing here.Again always thank you My Hero!
....And after a second viewing I say this is absolutely brilliant and quite a display of finesse, endurance & fantastic composition. This is one of my favorite cuts off this album. Well done Gary
Hey Gary, you really sound great! I love the musicality to be found in your playing. All the right moves. Did you start playing drums before the piano? Just curious.
I stumbled across Gary while listening to a Level 42 instrumental track and found him absolutely unbelievable! So now I have a question. Time signature? How do I count this? Really, I’m serious! There has to be some structure buried in there somewhere but my boom boom pop brain just can’t latch onto it.
I really picked up on the Keith Moon feel or influence and the energy of classic drummers..... This guys an insane drummer, not that many fusion technical drummers are actually interesting like this.
right on Gary! I'm also a professional eclectic Jazz Drummer and pianist and there are some definite things i'd like to learn from you! Do you do Skype instruction?
I adore this album, this track especially. Unfortunately, I lost the cover w the notes. Tell me: who plays drums on the original album track, is it Gary or ist Dennis Chambers?

Found this after watching a Gavin Harrison solo, where he called Gary an "off the charts" drummer, and the likely source of one his favorite rudiments. Great drumming here. He sure had to fight with his equipment, but he drummed right around all the issues without a hitch.
David Simpson Thanks David. I appreciate it. I have a series of Drum Videocasts at garyhusband.com if you’re inclined. That paradiddles exercise, many derivatives of it and other stuff a plenty. Thanks!

@@vintagemxer9165 As others have stated, he's played since a child, was basically Allan Holdsworth's main drummer, and he is also a virtuoso keyboardist/pianist. Gary is truly an incredible musician in every regard. Very few like him in that regard.
How the hell does he remember all the stabs/pushes/accents?! I mean it’s great but not exactly “catchy”... maybe he spent a few days just playing to the recording, l don’t know, but it’s impressive either way.
Pretty stiff technique. And that left hand - weird index finger. I take it keyboard is his main. Still a fan - just my observations. He's no Gary Novak but each drummer had a large part in how Allan Holdsworth played his pieces. Husband certainly doesn't lack in CONFIDENCE. That can go a long way.
Doesn´t sound stiff, that´s good. But this is not only an audio track, this is a video. And it´s kind of exhausting to watch him play. He is even more wooden than Carl Palmer.
I think I could watch this Gary Husband fellow drum all day...finesse meets force
Well Steve, he totally misses a cymbal @ 9:40. He blew the whole track on this take.
That's well- said. To me, he brings a kind of Keith Moon abandon to jazz.

I love blues and jazz music now the dum are in my ears 👂
Fantastic.
This whole kit sounds awesome the mix is awesome. Those cymbals are great. I know their zildjians but what series? If any one knows. Thanks
A series I think.
Brighter than K Custom, but not as bright as A Custom..
WOW !!! one question, the china zildjian what´s the serie ? i like this elegant sound !!!

This guy was (is?) 10 times the player that some of the more heralded names are. Maybe being a keyboard player a big advantage ?
