I've been using paiste 2002 cymbals for over 20 yrs. No other cymbal sounds as good as them. I also use, 505 green label sound edge hats, alpha sound edge hats, alpha swiss cymbals, and paiste Twenty china's. My favourite cymbal though is my 20" 2002 ride cymbal. Truly great cymbals.
Been an exhaustive search for hats this year (exhaustive) from half a dozen brands and lines. I keep coming back to the rude hats. Gary..you just pushed me over the edge..i share your sentiments exactly. Thank you.
Gary The Great!! One of my all time favourite drummers and musicians! I was really happy when he found his way to Paiste. I think the company´s cymbals has a lot more interesting characters than Zildjians (not to say the Zild´s are bad cymbals or anywhing), and I think it really suits Gary´s creative voice spot on. Yes, I am surprised over seeing him using a Rude hi-hat in this context, but my oh my, it really do work! Also very interesting hearing him play the all-metal Paiste alloy-kit (which I assume it is...?), not to mention coated heads. Great drummer and great cymbal company!😀🥁👏
I said the same thing when I saw the 20 Rude thin crash and then I hit it and now I own it. Lol!! Don't let the name fool you like you said. Very Musical!!
Very true Gary 👍 happy times with the company mate I am surprised that amount of pro drummers have moved on from other companies. I had painted cymbals way back in the 70s but split easy. But I have had all .I am now endorsed by a Turkish company but I love most sounding cymbals but yes paiste cymbals have a true voice
RUDEs are excellent! I've been playing my 15" RUDE SE for decades now and they're very versatile. They record extremely well, and feel great as well. I like that snare btw - spirit of 2oo2?
I can understand the rude hats, would suppose they would inherit ones playing style, could probably get about anything you want from them, never played paiste cymbals during my days, but I’m really starting to love them, really like the formula 605
Gary ..great cymbals .... I have a Paiste 18" Innovation and a 16'' sound formula crashes ...and a 20" signature paiste ride .... love the drumless track you played on ..... any ref or where i can download some of these nice instrumentals ? thanx
Gary is a highly respected drummer and pianist! The crashes , ride and China sound Amazing but the hihat hurts my ears…😢. Probably a mixing and EQ issue?
Very weird EQ on this video. I say this respectfully to try to help. I have noticed this on several videos recorded in this room. There seems to be an overabundance of high mids, and low mids are completely swept. It just doesn't sound great. You can really tell something is off by the snare sound that seems to be lacking body on all of these videos. Feel free to delete this comment, but maybe the monitors you're mixing though are coloring the sound or something? I know these cymbals sound much better than they sound in this video.
@@ingepinge3497 yeah, could definitely be that as well. I've noticed it on nearly every video they release that is recorded in this room. Something is out of wack bigtime.
Maybe it’s the kit made of heavy bronze shells - I’m sure the frequencies on those are crazy compared to a standard ply wood kit - that’s why loud players love heavy bell brass / bronze / steel snare drums. You can always reduce frequencies with muffling but you can’t really add them to a drum outside of what it is sonically capable of
It is a spirit of Paiste kit made out of their cymbal’s literally. It is the house kit in the Paiste factory all the Paiste artist demo their cymbals on.
I was thinking the same thing. Paiste's website shows 18" and 22" for the M.E. China's. It would be great if there was a 20". After looking at the ride which is 22", that China seems to be the same size.
I have that same ride and it's... ok... I guess. Looks like he crashes on it quite a bit. Maybe I'll use the 20" version I also have for that... Maybe I'll just sell them and get a Mark 2 or a Dark Crisp.
That's the general idea; unlathed, thick b20 cymbals with huge bells. The hats seem to be an exception due to their super light weight (in the 800/1100g ballpark from samples I've seen). correction: b8 bronze not b20, as mentioned below
@@stromghouls Totally correct, my mistake, I was thinking "2oo2 bronze" as Paiste calls it, and got confused. Of course I was not insinuating they were anything less than pro lines :) I have a vintage GB multi (among other b8 offerings) which is just glorious!
His accent is a bit strange, but doesn't sound German to me. It might be a result of deliberately trying to rid himself of his Yorkshire accent, like Sting and his Geordie accent.
I actually thought I detected a hint of Irish at first... not at all familiar with this particular drummer. (I first thought German too but the name convinced me otherwise.)
I didn't like the hats. Way Too Shrill. Like with Zero 'Smooth Over' Just Pure 'Cut'. And I'm a Heavy Music Player. They actually overpowered the volume of the other cymbals. For Myself? I'd use devices like those for loud splashes as a sound color/ orchestral thing inside of things. Not as a main axe. Too much cut not enough body.
Having Full sets of Several Series already, but only recently started mixing Series with Great Results. I'm Afraid to get Another Rude (22c/r) because I'll end up getting a Full set of that Series too. The Addiction is Hardcore. pAisTe-4-Life
When Dennis Chambers call you one of his inspirations, That is a HUGE statement.
No more zildjians!😛 Chad Smith just joined Paiste too a few months ago, now Gary Husband! Welcome to the World of Paiste!👌👍👏
Gary is one of my favorites, I'm especially fond of his work with Holdsworth and Level 42

Just got a pair of Rude Hi Hats and they just blowed my mind! The weight, the stick feel, the tone….it’s just the best Hi Hats I ever played!
Gary is a treasure! Always innovating and inspiring!
Gary is a phenomena. His playing is incredible, especially with John Mclaughlin.
The Paiste cymbals sound great.
Cheers.

Gary is so f-ing cool, big fan. Love his solo albums
I remember the first time trying the Rude hats and being so pleasantly surprised by how versatile they were. Wish I could say the same for the crashes

Absolutely incredible artist and musician! Inspiring.
interresting that he choice the rude hi hat. great hats
Awesome cymbals i play paiste since 1985 no issue with pros cymbals they are singning joy to my ears and my playing thank you paiste👏🥁🇨🇦
Gary's just so incredible.
Gary comes from the tony school of drumming and I’m a huge fan of both

To me I only like the hats here, they are crisp and cut but everything else sounds to mushy for me here with no definition.
Love my big beat paiste cymbals... shame I can't play them at the moment :(
Just a monster. I love his playing.
Rudes for a jazz guy?? I love Gary Husband. If he likes 'em, they've got something for sure. 😎

Nice drumming
And, it appears your forgot a cymbal? What's over his hi-hat? Not listed .....
What kind of drums is he playing? I have seen playing tama in the past but these dont look like tama

20

My understanding is The Rude line was intentionally designed for the harder hitting metal & punk genres in the 80's, unless I missed something.

Those hats sound really trebley to me ?

Rude hats. They are my favourite
I think it's mostly down to the mix of this recording.
I really don’t think the rude hats work on this track, I will be totally honest.
Rudes are actually really thin. I love a rude thin 16” under a masters 16” crash or 16” pstx thin. Man good stuff.
He sounds German but apparently he's English ?
His accent is a bit strange, but doesn't sound German to me. It might be a result of deliberately trying to rid himself of his Yorkshire accent, like Sting and his Geordie accent.
Definitely English. He was in the year above me at High School in Leeds in the 70s.
