I love lettuce! I could eat several whole heads of lettuce for a meal. This year I'm growing Merveille de Quatre Saisons. I grew it last year and it did better than any other variety I've tried. I really enjoy your videos and always look forward to new ones.

Thank you very much for your comment and I’m really pleased you enjoy the videos.
I love lettuce as well as grow quite a few different varieties, as you can see from the video, Lakeland is my current favourite. I’ve not tried Merveille de Quatre Saisons but I look out for that and try growing them myself. Thank you for the tip and kind regards. Gary

Rocket, rocket and rocket. I love it. I'm going it in a hanging basket and it's great just being able to pick what I need. I'm also growing spicy salad leaves, red salad bowl and Valmaine. I grow a few extra for the slugs/snails to have a munch and to keep them occupied to stay away from my other veggies.

Hi Rose and thank you for your comment. Rocket is great and provides an almost peppery alternative flavour to lettuce so it is well worth growing. I also grow Mizuna which has a mustard type flavour so that might also be worth a try if you haven’t grown that before. Kind regards. Gary

Great little video. Little Gem and All Year Round are our favourites as well and we also like Red Grenoble although have found seed a little hard to find. Did try starting lettuce off early under lights but not that successful and in future I will just wait until conditions are okay to sow in gree house.

Thank you very much for your comment Trevor which is greatly appreciated. Little Gems are fabulous and you can’t really go to far wrong with All the Year Round, two great varieties. I’ve not tried Red Grenoble but I will look out for a packet of these too.
I’ve never used grow light either and usually start mine on a bright window cill. Lettuce don’t need lots of heat to germinate so this usually works really well for me from late February onwards. Kind regards. Gary

Hi Pauline. Are you having trouble getting certain varieties of seed or is it seeds in general? I ordered most of my seed online this year and I've not had a problem so far. I also find there is less variety in shops and garden centres and as the growing season progresses some seeds will be less available. Thank you very much for your comment and kind regards. Gary

Hi Pauline, are you using peat free compost. I am finding mine not germinating but switching to multi compost with peat, difficult too find so I'm using Jack's Magic, the seed has germinated from same packet.

@@paulineellison9047 it might just be a bad batch of seeds Pauline. I had the same issue with my sweetcorn a few weeks ago. I planted a new lot from a different packet and they were fine. It happens occasionally. Kind regards. Gary

Hi Gary, at the moment I'm growing Radicchio, Mizuna, Valmaine and All Year Round. We eat a lot of salads so I like to keep them going. In the greenhouse yesterday I sowed Mustard, Red Frills and Salad Bowl. Its so nice to grow a few varieties. Thanks for a great video again!

Thank you so much for your comment Jenny which as always is greatly appreciated. Just like myself you seem like a real lettuce/salad greens lover.
I had Mizuna all through last winter and into early spring. It adds a real mustard taste to salads and always tastes so fresh! I might try some of the varieties you suggest for myself! Kind regards Gary
