A Night with the Stars 2024 Testimonial: Room to Grow

Through the generosity of funders and donors, the ElderSource EASE Program is able to provide emergency financial assistance to older adults in crisis. During the 2024 A Night with the Stars event, testimonies were shared of some of the older adults who were helped through this life-changing program.
Christine Largent's life took an unexpected turn when she gained custody of her four grandchildren. Shortly after taking them in, she was also hit with the news that her landlord was raising her rent.
Because she was living on a fixed income, Ms. Largent had to find new arrangements within her budget. While she was able to find a home that was more affordable and fit the entire family, the cost of moving and security deposits drained her financially.
Her next hurdle was a frustrating one: while she found a home, she couldn't afford the utility bill to turn the power on. After reaching out to ElderSource, EASE funds were used to pay Ms. Largent's outstanding JEA bill, giving the family power and a safe, warm place to live.
