    Ashley, two High Queens in one film😊 One I haven't been up as yet, though have oft seen it and the prominent cairn on the way to Mayo. That might even beat the Highway to Heaven for a constructed path/boardwalk. That is quite the history and an impressive cairn👍 Plenty more hills waiting for you in Sligo. Definitely looked like an interesting weather day with cool views of other mountains and the coast between the showers🌦

      Thanks Gerry, we really enjoyed our short break in Sligo and I definitely want to explore Benbulben and that area. The history on Knocknarea was great but definitely not a wild camping spot!! Regards, Ashley

      Benbulben is more the wild camping spot😊

    Very enjoyable watch. So where is the largest cairn

      Also in Sligo, a place called Heapstown. All the information boards at Knocknarea said that it was the 2nd largest cairn but never said where the largest one was!! Regards, Ashley

    Lovely video, I was there July 10th 2024, tough climb but I had been walking around Benbulbin earlier. The honesty box is now 3 euro 😂

    What a nice walk, I was just looking on google maps where it is and realised Ireland is quite big eh... Well done for not climbing on the cairn, it looks so tempting :/

      Thanks Dave, you are right Ireland is quite big and there are mountains in many places - hoping to explore a few more this year. The cairn is seen as "holy ground", bad luck to even touch it etc..I just think you have to respect the traditions. Glad we got a few hours of dry weather to see it. Thanks for watching, regards, Ashley

    Well done both of you, looks challenging the little Boardwalk looks narrow is there alot of it Ashley?

    • @ashleyjarnold
      @ashleyjarnold  Год назад +1

      Yes, quite a bit but it's wide enough for one person comfortably. There are at least 2 other ways up but this way was handiest for us. Regards, Ashley

    Two euros seems good value for the day to me, much better than the Lake District. I see you did not want to lose 10 subscribers but using the kissing gate, something that always happens to me. Plenty of stops up mind for your High Queen and looked a dam chilly day for it too. To be fair the path did get better and actually looked a real decent trail to follow, with great views of the coast. Walking on the boards must have been better than a muddy climb up and looking at those information boards I wonder what Queen Maeve really looked like, unlike the artists impression I would guarantee. I know the reasons why you could not stand on the top of the cairn but still a shame after all that climbing you could not touch the actual top. A real steep decent and the Lady in Red did well really well taking her time going down, cheers Alan

      Hi Alan, hope all is good with you again. We loved this short walk, not tough, but interesting, good views and great history. It's given me an interest in going back to do some of the bigger peaks in the distance. So, I need to plan and do it! Don't laugh but I got my bus pass recently and used it for the first time last week - hope to make a video of it - but this is what we do when we get older!! I am running a 10k this saturday too and have other commitments so finding it hard to fit hiking in, but must do it!! Thanks for watching, regards, Ashley
