I think you pretty well met all conditions one could! Quite the awesome day!! Nice to have someone along to give each other a boost to morale to keep on going!
Thank you so much for the lovely comments. We are both in Llanberis, beside Snowdon , at the moment and we needed a lot of encouragement to deal with the weather here. Regards, Ashley
Hi Ashley, Hi James, wow what a great long walk and stunning scenery. The paths looked really nice and the rock looked very grippy. What we all want to know though what, was in the sandwiches......hahaha Thanks as always for sharing your days adventure with us, really enjoyed watching that. All the very best, Dave.
Thanks Dave, the sandwiches are a trade secret!! But they were to specific order!! It was very tough but memorable for us and we are already planning to return to the Mournes soon. Regards, Ashley
Good form is always vital on any hike and looked like it may well have been needed with the weather you had. That reminded me of Snowden weather (when I did it) but a nice place to stop and have a sandwich made by the Sandwich Queen herself. To be fair those views were amazing when the weather cleared but I never challenge myself to what a sheep can climb, as they will win every time. Nice to see the sun come out for you I just wish it had stuck with you on your Welsh trip, cheers Alan
Thanks, Alan, the weather was tough on the first half but then the sun came out and all changed - bit of a bog fest but the paths in the Mournes are not as good as the Lakes. Still we had a good time together and it stood us in good stead for Snowdon. I've got some good footage of the trip so hopefully it'll make a video or two. Onwards and upwards!! Regards, Ashley
Cracking walk Ashley and as you said a marathon! Pleased the weather improved for you as you got some great views. Looked like you both had a great day. Cheers. Eddie.
Thank Eddie, really enjoyed our training hike! It got us ready for Snowdon in every way. Weather was awful today but going to put the waterproofs on tomorrow to tackle the Llanberis route. Regards, Ashley
Ashley, a cracking circuit👍 That central part of the Mournes is hard to beat, whatever the weather. I pretty much had lunch at that same spot a couple of weeks ago😊 Definitely tricky to find that path to the summit of Ben Crom. Tons of frogspawn about this year🐸 Another good training day👍
Thanks Gerry, we had a great day of hiking and exploration but Ben Crom Mountain eluded us. If we had found any path at all we'd have gone for it. When we came round the corner and saw Doan we might have missed a path then. We're talking about doing the 7 7s next - might be a bit ambitious but if we start early enough we might just succeed! Thanks for watching, regards, Ashley
Well done Ashley and James, chum that was a hike and a half 22k, loved the footage. I'm sure your ready for Snowden. Cant beat a chippy after a hard hike. Take care buddy.
I can confirm that we did make it to the chippy in Dromore but I didn't get my haircut after all - We had horrendous weather in Wales but we did conquer Snowdon which was the goal. Hopefully, there will be a video or two. Thanks for watching, regards, Ashley
Great video lads. Some really good miles hiked that day. I’ve never done Ben crom yet but I really enjoy the valleys as well as the peaks, something about standing at the bottom of a mountain looking right up at it. It’s hard to beat a good sandwich up there. All the best in Wales “the swamp boys” 😂 👍.
Thanks so much Geoff, it got us ready for Snowdon which we did yesterday. Today was a washout but hoping to do something safe on our last day tomorrow. Waterproofs are ready!! Regards, Ashley
We got half way up the Llanberis track and had to turn back - 50mph winds, rain that was hitting up so hard, real safety concerns but we did almost 11k.
Outstanding landscape, this looks and sounds amazing my friend!
Thank you for watching. Tough hiking but beautiful scenery. Regards, Ashley
