never 👏 stop 👏 on 👏 the 👏 tracks 👏 yes the cars are in the wrong for blocking the intersection. yes the crossing got locked down WAY too late compared to how long in took for the train to arrive. but still it is ultimately the truck driver's fault for not vacating the tracks, which should have been his #1 priority in this situation.
Truck driver should have turned into the dirt lot to get his tail off the tracks. There was enough room to maneuver back towards his intended destination. If you hear a train horn, getting off the tracks is priority #1
I dont hear any brakes from the train. Can't they lock those wheels up and stop pretty fast? I remember watching some impressive emergency stopping of trains 100 cars long in under a mile. It was loud as all hell though. I hear no brakes here.
The trouble with locking up the brakes completely is that the locomotives have more points of contact and often more weight than following cars, so they slow faster. And when they slow first, the cars behind will try to keep going wherever they can, which can result in them being lifted off the rails - this risk for a maybe mile-long stopping distance that absolutely won't save whatever is on the crossing compared to lighter braking anyways. They do, to my knowledge, try to stop when they're going to hit something though.
Trains nowadays aren't like the ones they had in the movies. Do you know how much weight those trains are carrying? You'll never ever see Sparks fly when they're hitting their brakes.
I don't see that the truck driver did anything wrong. There was no bells or lights when he started his turn. He had to go slow because of the line of cars. And then he didn't have enough time to complete his turn after the lights and bells and before the train arrived. This is 100% on the railroad for not giving trucks enough advance warning!

Truck drivers fault. Almost like he wanted to get hit. Must have been watching RUclips
