Personally I love the Hobbit films. I understand why people dont like them, But I feel people wanted the hobbit to be just as good, if not better than Lord of the Rings. I think people need to stop comparing the two as they are different stories just in the same universe and appreciate the Hobbit films for what they are. Also Happy New Year :D
People dont like the final part of the trilogy, the battle should stick with the book description so that it can be much better. I like Hobbit too but the battle of five armies could be done far better.

Well its so that Dale doesn't have men to interfere with what he wants. Dale had the windlance and black arrows which are designed to kill dragons. If you search up The Hobbit windlance. You'll get to where balin is telling the story to Bilbo about the weapon and Dale's last defense.

They are very good but some VERY annoying CGI moments like the elven army vs dwarves in front of Erebor. In the scens when you see the elves faces are absolutely terrible and such a minor mistake to such a great movie.
Guyon Van Oers that's exactly what I came here looking for!! Lmao... I saw it while thorin was on the ground and smaug was walking past him with no wings attached to his front legs
@@alexlegoboy3513 I have no idea. I was so disappointed when they announced the change. A dragon (a four legged fire breathing one) is depicted on Thòr’s map of Erebor even in the movies (In The Fellowship of the Ring, and in this movie). They basically changed Tolkien’s idea of Smaug. I loved the Smaug we saw, but it is NOT what he was supposed to be at the beginning. In this clip one could feel the weight of the creature as he smashes walls and crushed dwarves with his massive weight (I like the idea Smaug was smashing with unnecessary strength in that scene, as he wanted to underline his massive force). In the extended cut the changed the stomping forelimbs with stomping wings, but the result is not realistic given the difference in width and weight between a real limb and a much thinner and lighter structure...
When I watch The Lord of the Rings, it's for the grand adventure. When I watch The Hobbit, it's for the big red dragon. I like the complex trilogy for complex reasons, and I like the simple trilogy for the simple reasons.
In the wiki they said Thror had no lines in the movie. Listen again when he drops the Arkenstone into the gold, you can literally hear him say “NO!”. Are the wiki people deaf or what?
I can only imagine what it would be like be like to be in Erebor or Dale during Smaug's attack, you're just going about your life, then you see other residents running frantically.
@@Luke41461 they did have anti dragon weapons. It's called the Windlance and they made special arrows called black arrows made to kill an dragon. Surely you should've already heard Balin told the story when the company was in laketown. There's many secrets that were not shown.
I loved the Hobbit films, regardless of what people say about them. And watching Smaug was something to be truly scared of, and I oftener pictured either Sauron or the Witch-King of Angmar riding on Smaug as their noble steed. Imagine how terrifying that would’ve been.
I never really understood why they changed Smaug's 4-legged design in The Desolation of Smaug. They say it's because it makes him more menacing and serpentine but I don't see how a 4 legged dragon can't be menacing. Not that Smaug didn't look amazing in the sequels tho!
I mean.... Ancalagon the black was four legged..... Smaug isn't a dragon cuz there's different types. He's an wyvern an dragon species that has claws with their wings.
Actually, they did it so that it'll be easier to animate the Dragon via Motion capture. Plus, they didn't have as much pre-production time as they had with the LOTR trilogy, so with that in mind, they made Smaug a Wyvern instead for convenience reasons.
In the book, Smaug protects his "soft underbelly" by having the gold and other precious materials embedded into their scales thus giving them massive levels of protection. Other than that there is little explanation. This protection for the case of Smaug was not complete as there is a bare patch on the left breast that had failed to get any metals embedded to provide protection for the soft underbelly. Outside of the TOlkien universe, it's a similar story.
I believe there are several reasons. Firstly, gold is a symbol of power, something dragons always represent in any story. Secondly, it is a metaphor for human greed. Finally, gold is often related to alchemy and magic as being an excellent conductor for mystical energy, something Dragons, being creatures of magic, would be drawn towards.
According to the books "The Hobbit" was written before the "Lord of the Rings". While in the movies, "The Lord of the Rings" was done 11 years before "The Hobbit". I would have an idea to make them coincide in the same way of the books also according to the order of the films: In the opening of the first film, and in the last scene of the third film of "The Hobbit", Bilbo and Frodo are still in the county; Since "The Lord of the Rings" was made before "The Hobbit", it would be more logical that, in the opening of the first film and in the last scene of the third film of "The Hobbit", Bilbo and Frodo are not in County, but to the Mountain, where they go, leaving the county at the end of the last film of "The Lord of the Rings", and that is where Bilbo tells Frodo the adventure he had lived before his.
@@uknowwhat9224 I think he's saying that The Hobbit's framing device should have taken place after Frodo and Bilbo already sailed West from the Grey Havens, with Bilbo telling the story while on the ship. His reasoning for this is because LOTR was already adapted to film before The Hobbit was. I disagree with that. I think it's better that they had it take place on Bilbo's 111th birthday, to tie it into FOTR. Not to mention that Frodo would've already known all about Bilbo's adventures since he lived in Bag End with him before he left, so there would be no need for Bilbo to tell Frodo about how it happened when they're sailing to the Undying Lands.

Because drakes are four-legged without any wings
it was his early design which they decided to change to better implemented the serpent descriptions from the book
You can actually see his redesign in the Extended Edition of this scene.
