Counting calories doesn't work as all calories are not the same. You can read the calorie myth by Dr Johnathan Baylor for scientific explanation of why. But a good example is carbs versus meat If you eat 300 calories of bread you end up getting about 280 calories by the time your body breaks down the nutrition. If you eat 300 calories of meat you only get about 110 calories by the time your body is done breaking it down. If you remember chemistry class every time energy changes form you lose some energy. Bread is already basically glucose and the body only needs one step to make it usable. However for the body to make meat usable it is about five steps and it burns up a lot more energy. So if you go on the carb-free diet it's almost impossible to overeat because you end up getting only about a third of what you really take in. So if you were eating 2,000 calories of meat per day versus 2,000 calories of ice cream per day you will get drastically different results from the same amount of calories. Also, your body readily stores fat when your blood sugar is high but doesn't store fat when your blood sugar is low. So simply being on a low-carb diet ensures that you will never have the blood sugar necessary to store new fat. Add to that the fact that when you eat meat you only end up getting about a third of the calories.. you see why the carb-free diet is so good for losing weight. I lost 85 lb or 6 Stone or 38.5 kg I don't exactly know which units you use
But...”once you pop you just can’t stop” or “you can’t eat just one”. They encourage their customers to eat it all as one serving. They’d be individually wrapped if making servings clear was important to them. The company will take no responsibility for the health consequences and will blame the victim...their customers. 🤨
@@nancygoodwin6989 So they aren’t allowed to criticize or even share pet peeves unless they’re “polite” about it? A large part of Joel and Lia’s channel is for comedic effect. We all feel snap irritations in life whether we speak them out loud or not. They magnify them for this video, but there’s a grain of truth in there. It’s not un”real”. I’m not offended. They can say what they wanna say about America as outsiders. I can take a joke.
@@waltzingaranel How much of a "victim" are you when you exercise your free will to eat the whole bag instead of the serving? The government or food manufacturers are not responsible for your personal actions.
Same. All of the things they discuss in these reaction videos are literally to get a reaction lol. I’ve never sued any nor know anyone personally that has sued someone.
I love you both and your channels. Americans do fly our flag and are very proud of it, our country and of being American. This story is just one person's interpretation of why: In September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a History teacher at RobinsonHigh School in Little Rock, did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks in her classroom. When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks. 'Ms. Cothren, where are our desks?' She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me how you earn the right to sit at a desk.' They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.' 'No,' she said. 'Maybe it's our behavior.' She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.' And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom. Kids called their parents to tell them what was happening and by early afternoon television news crews had started gathering at the school to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room. The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the desk-less classroom. Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he or she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you.' At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it. Twenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniform, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall. By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned. Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. They went halfway around the world, giving up their education and interrupting their careers and families so you could have the freedom you have. Now, it's up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it.' By the way, this is a true story. And this teacher was awarded the Veterans of Foreign Wars Teacher of the Year for the State of Arkansas in 2006. She is the daughter of a WWII POW. Do you think this email is worth passing along so others won't forget either, that the freedoms we have in this great country were earned by our U.S. Veterans?... I did. Let us always remember the men and women of our military and the rights they have won for us.
Joel, don’t worry we don’t really sue each other all the time, it’s just a threat, ppl that act like that usually couldn’t afford a lawyer if they wanted to.
Plus they have no concept about contract law written word in court proceeds verbal communication even if it is video recorded verbal communication the written word still proceeds it in the eyes of the law.
I'm going complete arrogant American here. With 4 times as many annual immigrants as the next highest country, we didn't decide we were the best country, the world did.
This is an awesome video... it's about the national anthem, but wait till the end. I dont ever remember being taught this ....enjoy ruclips.net/video/YaxGNQE5ZLA/видео.html
Brutal honesty; this stereotype does hold true to a certain extent for we Americans. In fact my dream job is in Japan. In Japan, companies higher for what is literally deemed the "loud American" position. The only purpose of this position is for the American to represent the body of workers when they need somebody to tell off the upper level management. Americans are hired and paid to do one thing, go to the boss and tell them "Your idea is stupid, it's going to ruin the company, knock it off." I'd love to have this job.
Ugh, I'm sorry to say we hate those things, too. Having worked as a paralegal for many years, I can confirm that EVERYONE thinks they're going to sue someone and get rich. That's not how it works. Settlement money is meant to cover medical bills and lost wages, not a brand new SUV. Doctors and hospitals collect their cut before the client gets a penny. People's unwillingness to take personal responsibility is truly gross.
Not a great assumption to say EVERYONE. Like Doug said, you live in that world so you shouldn’t assume the rest of us are like that. You are kind of falling into the anecdotal fallacy.
That's it Joel I am suing you for saying I can't sue you, and. .. I am suing Lia for spelling her name weird, and. ... I am suing her for a second time for agreeing with you when you said I can't sue you. However, I will drop most of the law suits, if you both change your names to Sue, as this will make me laugh and relieve some of the pain you have both caused me.
Hilarious! And for some reason as I read it I heard it in the tone of voice from the "Thanks a Lot Rachel" video. 😄 In fact, I bet that little girl WOULD sue Rachel, if only she knew how. 😂
I'm American and have lived in the US all my life. I have never met any people like the ones you describe. Where are you finding all these strange people?
Lawyers are all fighting for business to sue...injury, worker compensation, accidents divorce, etc. etc. The highway billboards, tv and radio are full of these clowns advertising.
Jon O - Not all of them, but there is some truth in what you say. There are some lawyers who are not ambulance chasers, if you can catch them before they get run over. I knew a guy, absolutely nothing to do with Law, entirely different profession, but it turned out that he had been a lisenced Lawyer for over 10 years. One day, push came to shove, and for a mutual friend of ours, probably a minor weed bust, but I don't remember, he suddenly became his lawyer, walking into Court and all of that. He was a bit of an Actor, so I warned him. Don't impersonate a Lawyer, in Court. You could get into some serious trouble for that way. He said, Yeah, I know. Don't worry, I'm not. That was news to me. He had never even mentioned Law before.
I’m American and I totally agree with the lawsuit thing. My husband is a contractor and almost lost his business because a crazy woman (the courts knew her from all her lawsuits she filed just to amuse herself) who lived about 6 houses away from a house he was building sued him because she said the house “violated a code” of some sort. How did this affect her at all and why did she even have standing to sue? It never made sense. It eventually got thrown out, but my husband still had to spend tens of thousands to fight it and almost lost everything. There needs to be reform.
The ability to sue is an American right. I'm embarrassed for you that in your country you're ashamed of your flag. There are things that we could do better. One thing is chosing our friends better. Bye.
If are going to any place in the USA to eat and they don't have a salad (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc) then you are in the wrong place. Even fast food places like Wendy's have delicious, healthy salads. If you put on too much dressing, that's your fault. And I've never been to a salad bar that did not have the fixings of the salad I mentioned above.
You always buy and go to the worst places in the USA for food. We are the country that began the Organic, back to earth movement in the late sixties. Sure we have lots of bad food--lots of choices. But we have just as many good choices. Everywhere in the USA has a local farmers market. I went to England and tried Haggis and marmite--both vile. The salmon and cream and bread were fantastic. You have to search out good food where ever you go. OK, maybe not Italy. I swear it is all good!
@@charlenebrooker4492 I guess it's what they said, videos saying what they don't like get more eyeballs than positive videos. They really can't be that ignorant to think that in the USA you can't get salad (the lettuce/tomato/vegetables kind) without mayo. Geez, potato salad, macaroni salad and coleslaw are not main course salads, they are side dishes. I'm beginning to enjoy some of these RUclipsrs less and less.
Angel A - Even the standard 'fast food' burgers joints (you mentioned one), all have decent simple salads, and not high priced either. On the road, my standard after a long day's drive, is 2 simple cheeseburgers, and two simple salads, then hit the motel, shower and then bed. Dinner for about $5, quite cheap actually, and I'm happy (or happy enough) to go on another day. Yes, and dress it at your own risk.
@@charlenebrooker4492- I totally agree. J&L tend to buy crap apple pie, or whatever, and seem to suppose, that it is what people from the States are rerring to. Sooner or later, I figure they will stumble upon an honest apple pie, and then know the difference. I agree with you that marmite (or vegemite), is vile and disgusting stuff. Even my dog won't eat it, and you know the habits of dogs. I did have some haggis, made here in the States, so lung (and all sorts of other offal, that I would not eat any way), weren't included, thus, not a really true recipe. but it was made by a second generation Scot. It was basically made of ground beef, pork and lamb, with a bit of grated onion and carrot, I believe, with S&P, with barley and oats of course, all held together by a minimum of what I considered very nice, homemade gravy. That, was actually quite fine, served over honest (mashed, or smashed) potatos. Wild caught salmon is one of my favorite protiens, but farm raised salmon, literally make me sick. I have no idea why, but they are visually easy to tell apart.
In all the restaurants that I've had the privilege to work or dine at, the standard service of the Mayo salads (potato, mac or slaw), was 3 to 3.5 oz per portion. Quality house made, but I seldom remember anyone asking for more. It seems to be the perfect size, for a side dish. I am very capable of making any of them, and I've made 1000'a of pounds of any. It's easier than it sounds. Part of my restaurant experience was on a ship, of about a hundred foot, being several different Supply ships from time to time, supporting larger operations, up to about 125 feet. Generally, we had 6 on crew (men and women, mostly men). Two Captains, three deckhands and one cook, entertaining a clientele of about 25 worker/passengers, for a company who had hired us out. It was our job to provide them with everything, short of actually doing their job, which we always helped with, as needed. When I started out, I was fairly experienced with boats, but not professionally, so I was the lowest of deckhands. Within about a year, I was a trusted member of the crew. I eventually became a licensed Captain, and as well, a 'main cook', but it didn't start there. I progressed to being a First Mate (being able to relieve the Captain) and respected in the Galley (ship kitchen) as well. Both, just because I poked my nose in and did more than required. The company I worked for, was quite glad that I was so flexible of duty, and I didn't much care which I was assigned to, as whichever I wasn't, I showed up to anyway, on my own time, if I could be of any help. I had no idle feet, nor much need for sleep. Point being, under such conditions, we occasionally worked for some Scandinavian ships, and food wise, they had different tastes, which my cook knew well (as he had spent several years on ships around there). As such, he taught me to make 'German' variations of such salads, which basically just meant, same thing, leave out the Mayo, and use some nice vinegar's and Extra Virgin Olive Oil instead. Understood. As to parties or picnics with family and friends, it was known that I made some damn fine Mayo salads, and would probably show up with the lot of them, particularly if asked to, which was often. To me, if I was making one, it was just about as easy to make three, being of mostly the same ingredients, with slight variations. Most of us, even I, were familiar with 'German Potato Salad', as described (from most NY Deli's), as with a healthy bit of crumpled crisp bacon, or well minced and crisped ham of some sort on top, voila, German potato salad. Everyone knew that. Easy to get by. Cole slaw, no matter how fine, always required some mayo tho, but fear not. Mac salad required no Mayo, to be asked for again. Basically, same Mac ingredients, with oil and vin rather than mayo, but I added some beans, usually black, small red or chickpeas, or a combination, with some diced up dried apricots, cranberries, cherries, or whatever, and a few soft nuts, meaning pistachios or cashews, usually. A little of this or that, but always some parsley and fresh herbs, perhaps the best fresh tomatoes, and it's summer. A lot of mayo avoided, the point.
As far as brutal honesty, I feel you see most of that in the New York, New England, west coast. Here in Bible belt area people definitely sugar coat the truth to not hurt everyone's feelings.
Ehhh, as someone from the West Coast who now lives in the south oh, yeah I guess they sugarcoat things but they're mean about it even when you don't know their being mean and so it ends up being a situation where I've ended up trusting people who didn't like me but never made that clear enough to my face and then they would take anything I say and stab me in the back with it. There is definitely a part of Southern Culture that can be very petty and rude it's just not out in the open.
I worked for a Brit and an Irishman in the US and neither of them were shy about thier opinions. They were more brutally honest than any American I'd ever met.
Doug Bowers - I will concure. I live near NYC (Sue City) and know plenty of lawyers. I've never sued anyone, nor have I ever been sued. To be honest tho, several times, I have had to mention that my lawyer owes me money. Unbelievable, but I am a photographer.
Plenty of litiguous crap in the US though! My god-daughter was killed in a vehicle collision (in CA) which was the fault of the other driver, and the passenger of the vehicle that was at fault sued her estate for pain and suffering...successfully. California, you suck!
Love your videos! I'm American and have never been sued or brought a suit against anyone. It is common in American but not the "norm". Keep up the great work!
Regarding the flag. You guys were so excited to go to Boston. It’s a great city filled with the history of the founding of America. When you go, you should walk the freedom trail. It all started in Boston. Colonial resistance led to violence in 1770, when British soldiers opened fire on a mob of colonists, killing five men. That was the Boston Massacre. After December 1773, when a band of Bostonians dressed as Mohawk Indians boarded British ships and dumped 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor during the Boston Tea Party, an outraged Parliament passed a series of measures designed to reassert imperial authority in Massachusetts. If the colonists were being taxed, they just wanted to be represented in the government. There’s nothing wrong with being patriotic, flying the flag and remembering the sacrifices that went into making this country.
The suing thing.. depending on where you are in the US, it doesn't cost anything upfront to sue someone. Especially in personal injury lawsuits, the lawyer just takes 33% of whatever they win or settle with in the lawsuit at the end. So if it doesn't really cost anything upfront for them, it doesn't deter anyone from just suing and seeing what happens.
So in other words. It doesn't cost anything to the person initiating the lawsuit, the lawyer gets paid at the end if they win. Some states will look at the facts of the lawsuit though and throw it out before it gets further in the litigation process, some states don't do that.
And there are huge barriers set up to suing law enforcement, with federal law enforcement enjoying the highest barriers. And if you lose your case you have to pay their legal costs usually
@@edwardmiessner6502 - I hadn't supposed that. Not that I would be amazed, but I will check it out. Howevever, there is no doubt that Law Enf enjoys the highest barriers, as you said.
The suing thing is because there are soooo many "ambulance chaser" lawyers who sue corporations because many times they will settle out of court to prevent bad press.
So just watched this-I am a big fan of you both-I’m American-I started flying an American flag everyday starting September 12, 2001. It just seemed to help me and my family get through some dark days and for us to always remember. I
In the U.S., you pretty much CAN sue anyone for anything. That is, you can bring the suit. That doesn't mean you'll win. And just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD. But yeah, you certainly CAN, and some people do seem to make a lifestyle out of suing people.
As an American, I hate the litigious culture, do not approve of it, don't like the "greatest country" crap because we are not well cared for by our government yet they get a portion of everyone's wage for every hour of work in our lives, but I will give you my life story if you say how are you! I have the same complaint about the nutrition labels in the US. I see bottles of sodas that shows the calories per serving. But then you have to read further that the bottle / can is NOT 1 serving.
I honestly thought it was normal to display your country's flag. I've seen it in Canada, Brazil, Italy, Poland, and Jamaica. Even foreigners that move to the U.S. actually display their former country's flags.
I totally agree with both of you. I would move to the U.K. in a heartbeat. I would rather be British rather than American any day. I am very disappointed in the US, especially since 2016.

It all started downhill in America when the courts decided that certain professions could advertise on TV and in print. That brought out the greedy lawyers and doctors in droves. It turns out their more toxic than cigarettes and liquor which are no longer allowed to advertise on TV.
It is very easy to check if something is healthy, just check the restaurant's website beforehand. Once I know what restaurant I am going to eat at, I go to their website and review the menu. This way I can choose the meal I want in advance.
Hahahaha!! Just so funny!! Growing up it seemed whenever someone would be arguing, or even playing around, they'd say, "So sue me!!" hahahaha!! Oh man!! Loved this 😂😂😂!!!
Its $50 dollars for small claims court case. For cases Up to $3000-5000 dollars. Civil Court case is $250, cases $3k - 10k or more depending on state. Yes, its allowed in the USA. We grew up with judges shows. Like judge Judy. Anyone can have their court case heard.
Oooh here's a good one...I was threatened by someone that they were going to sue the store, because I wasn't letting them steal! A man came in and claimed to have defective work boots (shoe store obvs). He showed me which ones he had purchased. I told him to bring in the defective pair and we would exchange them. He was like "no, just give me new ones." Like...no sir, you are not getting a new pair of boots without giving me the defective ones LOL. Then tried to get money, still without giving me the defective boots! 🤦♀️🤣 I really hope no other stores fell for his bs. It was really laughable.
I’m pretty sure that in England you get penalized by the court (w/a fine) if you bring an unlawful lawsuit. In America, you can sue for anything, but the judge can also just throw out the lawsuit and make that person pays the defendant’s legal fees. There is not the fine that exists in English law,
For the calories per serving then at the top it will tell you exactly how many chips are in a serving. So it tells you per serving everything then at the top what that one serving is.
Thanks to your videos, now I am very conscious of how quickly I hang up the phone. I mean I won't ever stop ending my phone calls the same way, but now I just think of it more.
In the US you can file a law suit on almost anything. But a frivolous suit my be tossed and you can be charge for the other persons costs. A few people have cheap access to a lawyer and cause more of the issues as most people will settle rather than fight
Having lived in the US most my life, what irritates me the most about Brits is the fake niceness and fake happiness. Actually, the packages here do tell you how many chips, etc in a package make up a serving. The suing thing isn't nearly as common now as in the past. I really don't want to admit this but I've never really met an English I liked. BTW, the English are very entitlement minded also.
That is true but then you have to multiply to calculate the total calories. If it is a package that commonly is consumed all at one then it should say 1 serving and give the total. Companies purposely adjust the serving sizes to make it appear that it is not as fattening, sugary, or whatnot. That is the problem with the serving sizes in America.
I've done the exact same thing when stores request leaving bags at the door, and I'm American! My retort is, If you can't offer any trust to your customers perhaps you should shut these doors and invest your capital in mindless widgets, eh? I'm supposed to trust them with my bag, but they can't trust me with their merch?? WTF? Nope. So right.
I work retail in America. Yes, we do have enough customers who use their back packs to make it easy to shoplift, that we had to ask customers to leave their bags up front with the cashiers at one point. It is a real problem in retail. Guaranteed, if you make a habit of bringing large bags/back packs with you into retail establishments, you are making the staff nervous. It looks suspicious AF. This is UNIVERSAL.
The U.S. is not all that's cracked up to be... I think several talking points and propaganda in the likes of "The American Dream." Or "The customer is always right." These things are part of the reason why Americans feel so damn entitled and are known so around the world. It's embarrassing. You guys had a lot of good points and DO NOT BE SORRY! Lol...
Neither of you have an idea of how big America is. Some people act the way you describe. Most don't. You seem to think we are all from the south. People from the south act the way you describe. Trust me, in Boston, if you said Hello, you may get a nod back if you are lucky.
Y'all touched on several things that most Americans dislike as well, especially the ridiculous lawsuits! Foods are VERY regional, but I agree that healthy is healthy. I fly my flag because I'm a proud U.S. Navy Veteran AND a proud American. I've been to other countries and am SO GRATEFUL to have been born here, and especially in the Southeast.🥰 Some things are just cultural but, as a whole, we do try to be tolerant, understanding, and honest but with kindness. Feel free to respond in person if ever in Tennessee!
also lawsuits are expensive to basically if you have the money then you can sue anyone but if you dont have the money then you probably shouldnt be suing anyone unless theres a good reason to
Hey guys, so about the mayonnaise as a salad…that is def regional. I’m from near San Francisco and have lived in North Carolina for 15 years and have had a fair amount of challenges around food descriptions/ nutrition info. My parents are from near Buffalo, NY and I remember summer picnics having pasta “salad” dripping in Mayo or miracle whip or something, potato salad, same… coleslaw- same, bleh. I ate the strawberries 🤣. “Generally” speaking, broad strokes here, many Southern and Midwestern spots can have a lot of mayo heavy or fried food heavy items. Regional food conversation is a dangerous path towards stereotypes, but it could also be helpful,to know what to be aware of or look for. Happy travels!! ☀️🌎💫
American patriotism sprang up in the 1930s. We were only 50 years past a civil war which deeply divided our country and we had a huge influx of immigrants between 1890 - 1920 who brought their customs from the old countries. The government started a patriotism campaign to overcome the divisions of North versus South, Irish communities, Italian communities, German communities, etc. They wanted to unite us all as Americans. They came up with the Pledge of Allegiance, popularized many newly written patriotic songs, banned the use of non English languages in schools, encouraged flag waving etc. That was the birth and the purpose of American patriotism.
Little story time: This great grandma hit me running a stop sign which shoved me into the car next to me. I had to be taken to the hospital with injuries with my small 4 year old daughter. I got papers in the mail HER suing ME! I had to get an attorney and he said my only option was suing HER. In court in front of the judge after her attorney was questioning the guy who I hit. He said " I don't even know why we are here SHE hit HER making her hit ME." Case dismissed. I got $10,000....but my car was totaled and got $4000 from that.
People in America may love to threaten to sue in the heat of anger but when it comes down to it very few actually go through with it. It costs to hire lawyers. I've never sued anyone in my while life!
Yes! America is sue happy. A VERY close family member, that I have nothing to do with has sued his way through life. 🙄 On a funny note, my MIL who was about 50 when I met her, 35+ years ago would get upset with a retail store of any sort. Her favorite line and she meant it… was, “ Well, they’re getting a letter” it was the funniest thing ever. She’d be put out about something and it was her biggest threat. 🙄🤣
Interesting video I would say that most of what you said depends on the situation and the individuals involved. But you made some good generalized points that could be applied to several other countries as well including England.
LOL. I think for 'entertainment' it's easy to say Americans, like all of us. But of course most of the things you dislike are just personality types and not indicative of all of us, and frankly can be found in every country. EXCEPT the entitlement concern. As a slightly, cough cough, older man, I am annoyed at our increasingly entitled culture as well - the suing, the rants over expectations and demands as well. It has made our country a bit tarnished.
Your criticism of “Americans” who have a propensity for filing lawsuits, maybe we have more Karen’s per capital than the UK! Wish it wasn’t so. Also, not all Americans are always brutally honest. Most of us do know how to be tactful and spare a person’s feelings. No, you are not trophies; you are just novel and interesting. I’d be proud to have you at my party. My friends wouldI love and welcome you. I enjoy people of all cultures. Finally, entitled people are everywhere and they are, beyond a doubt, quacks.
The Brits are a lot more standoffish, aloof, than Canadians. Take the friendliness/openness thing that Joel & Lia have mentioned. Most Brits wouldn't dare start a conversation with strangers in a public place, as they see that as an invasion of each other's personal space. Canadians are quite open and won't hesitate to initiate a conversation with strangers. Another difference pertains to the patriotism/bragging aspect that Joel & Lia don't understand in the US. In Canada, you won't see as many people flying the flag on their front porch as you see in the States, but you'll see a fair number doing it, whereas in the UK, flying the national flag is seen in a negative light. Those are just two, but probably two of the most pronounced, differences between Canadian and British cultures.
Most Canadians today have much more in common with people in the USA than they do with Brits. The perceived differences are very important to many Canadians, however.
I think the lawsuit thing is exaggerated because of all the obnoxious ads. I have never sued anyone (though I was sued years ago, so there's that). I think the bluntness is found more in the Northeast than elsewhere. Go to the South of West and it's different.
I worked retail and you wouldn't believe the amount of shoplifting! I personally had 2 people arrested and had to chase down someone before to get merchandise back. I never harassed anyone, but we are definitely caught to keep an eye on everyone no matter what they look like, because they can be a shoplifter.
In Australia only security (both uniformed & plain clothed) are the only ones that can apprehend thieves. Because of insurance and public liability. Shopping lifting is a major issue here too. My reason for flying MY flag is an remembrance of all the we've lost. 9/11 and our Military. Our Flag says we remember and support you. We don't get the drama of the Monarchy.
The UK’s flag represents the United Kingdom’s of Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland & England. But unfortunately in the latter part of the twentieth century & early new millennium it came to represent extreme far right & xenophobic elements and groups within the country. You also need to remember that most British people have an ‘Empire cringe’ mentality because of all the horrendous incidents and wars that happened ( under the oath Monarch & Country)during that time. This is something that isn’t necessarily taught to people of USA. So all the bad things and ‘unsuccessful’ wars that the United States have done or entered into aren’t acknowledged. Whereas in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth countries we are taught this in secondary (high) school and tertiary education.
American courts tend to be open to all people and to accept all petitions and complaints. This is an essential part of democracy and rule of law. As long as your complaint meets the criteria and you have sufficient evidence, yes, you can virtually sue for anything. Just because you plan to sue someone, it doesn't mean that you will win your case. or that the judge wont throw it out for being ridiculous
Always been a fan of you guys! But as a 'coloured' minority in the UK, I'm not a fan of the term 'white privileged' coming out of Lia's mouth unless it's a joke.

The nutrition label just came about in America in the late 1990’s as a result of an act of American law. Before that there was no nutrition label at all.
This is very funny in a weird way to me. One of my good friends is English. She lives here now and has for quite awhile, but listening to you guys, she’s more American than me apparently!😆 I mean, she flew her England flag during the recent soccer kerfuffle, she is generally very loud and direct/honest, very entitled. Lol! OH also, she’s ALWAYS late, but I don’t think I can blame that on her Englishness or her American tendencies.
The thinking part of my brain wants to comment on the content of the video. The other part of my brain wants to comment on how haaaaaat Lia is. Lia is always *flame symbol*. WOW!
How you feel about the British flag is how some young Americans feel about the flag, but I will say it is not the majority of people or even young people
For the nutrition facts: all American product labels I’ve seen tell you the size of the serving and how many servings per package. Many of them also will have the serving info as well as full package info. You don’t have to guess anything, just do some maths 😉
We are taught in school that America is the best country in the world, although, I’m not sure if that’s what taught in schools nowadays. We are taught to be proud, to celebrate our freedoms. I hope and pray that will continue long into the future. I totally understand how really different things can be strange to those haven’t experienced those things.
I agree with you on many of your grievances! I'm so sick of seeing all the US flags all over the place, and I live in "liberal" California. It got worse during the Trump administration and is probably worse in the South and West. I do put up thef flag on civic holidays but why in the world do you need to remind you neighbors you live in the us all the time?? Do you forget where you live sometimes?? And they're always plenty of flags at car dealerships, as if you are more patriotic if you buy a car.

In America your word is a bond like a contract
Counting calories doesn't work as all calories are not the same.
You can read the calorie myth by Dr Johnathan Baylor for scientific explanation of why.
But a good example is carbs versus meat
If you eat 300 calories of bread you end up getting about 280 calories by the time your body breaks down the nutrition.

I love you both and your channels. Americans do fly our flag and are very proud of it, our country and of being American. This story is just one person's interpretation of why:
In September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a History teacher at RobinsonHigh School in Little Rock, did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks in her classroom. When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks.
'Ms. Cothren, where are our desks?'
She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me how you earn the right to sit at a desk.'
They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.' 'No,' she said.
'Maybe it's our behavior.' She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.'
And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period.
Now I am going to tell you.'
At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it.
Don't ever forget it.'
By the way, this is a true story.
I did.

As a paralegal, litigious people were your world. The rest of us don’t live in that world and you shouldn’t assume that we do.
Not a great assumption to say EVERYONE. Like Doug said, you live in that world so you shouldn’t assume the rest of us are like that. You are kind of falling into the anecdotal fallacy.

I am American, I eat healthy, and I have never filed a lawsuit.

Thank you for reminding me Joel. I almost forgot to sue you for completely ruining my May with your lack of daily uploads. 😂 😂 😂

🥰👏🏼 Love this, thank you for saying it.
Agreed

Watch the Night at the Proms and you’ll see plenty of Union Jack waving.
Watch Austin Powers, it's painted on the Jaguar and Mini Cooper.
Well that’s the kettle call the pot black!
Love ya too
We've had people sue McDonald's bcuz the customer dropped her coffee ☕in her in lap. Ridiculous!
In America, a man never answers that question: "Do I look horrendous in this?"--unless he wants a divorce.
Bad advice. A man always has to give this answer, "you look beautiful".
You do know that it says exactly how many servings there are per pack.
They did say that they know that. It’s just easier in the UK to read and interpret without doing calculations.
This is the content I subscribed for hahaha love these!
The U.S. is not all that's cracked up to be... I think several talking points and propaganda in the likes of "The American Dream." Or "The customer is always right." These things are part of the reason why Americans feel so damn entitled and are known so around the world. It's embarrassing. You guys had a lot of good points and DO NOT BE SORRY! Lol...
Criticizing absolute imbecility is impossible-Dr. Johnson. Observe my silence.
Neither of you have an idea of how big
America is. Some people act the way you describe. Most don't. You seem to think we are all from the south. People from the south act the way you describe. Trust me, in Boston, if you said Hello, you may get a nod back if you are lucky.
I have news for you most of the south is full of northeners.lol And not all southeners are friendly.
Every American knows what per serving means. If it says 15 chips per serving that’s what it means it literally says that on every packaging in the US
Y'all touched on several things that most Americans dislike as well, especially the ridiculous lawsuits! Foods are VERY regional, but I agree that healthy is healthy.
I fly my flag because I'm a proud U.S. Navy Veteran AND a proud American. I've been to other countries and am SO GRATEFUL to have been born here, and especially in the Southeast.🥰
Some things are just cultural but, as a whole, we do try to be tolerant, understanding, and honest but with kindness.
Feel free to respond in person if ever in Tennessee!
“Bonus bitching available in our members’ videos,” made my day! 🤣
also lawsuits are expensive to basically if you have the money then you can sue anyone but if you dont have the money then you probably shouldnt be suing anyone unless theres a good reason to
I believe mayo was used to extend food especially in the hard years of war. I personally don't care for a lot of mayo. Walt in Miami
Our government tells us we are the most free country.
I don’t know personally anyone who sued anyone.
Yep, some stores treat customers as thieves. I think if the store is in bad neighborhood they tend to be too cautious.
People in America may love to threaten to sue in the heat of anger but when it comes down to it very few actually go through with it. It costs to hire lawyers. I've never sued anyone in my while life!
Yes! America is sue happy. A VERY close family member, that I have nothing to do with has sued his way through life. 🙄
On a funny note, my MIL who was about 50 when I met her, 35+ years ago would get upset with a retail store of any sort. Her favorite line and she meant it… was, “ Well, they’re getting a letter” it was the funniest thing ever. She’d be put out about something and it was her biggest threat. 🙄🤣
You can actually sue for just about anything and in most cases with money you have to sue for it to get anything done
I want a vid of this but Canadians, I’m genuinely curious what the differences are between Canada and uk society
@@terryomalley1974 great! Thanks for the info, very informative :)
@@gracer1486 Don't memtion it.
@@Violet-to4qq I yeah I’ll check that out, thanks
But as someone stated earlier in the comments, the majority of the theft is internal. Security devices have been all the rage here for about 30 - 40 years now
@@peterstaiff2211 we had to do person and bag checks before we could leave and count down our till before and after each shift to prevent internal theft. We carried clear bags at one place I worked.
My reason for flying MY flag is an remembrance of all the we've lost. 9/11 and our Military. Our Flag says we remember and support you.
We don't get the drama of the Monarchy.
Pride for your country and thanking those who’ve served, now why is that bad?.
Exactly!
Joel, an American here.....LoL, I'm going to sue you for not keeping your word , you failed to upload daily videos for the month of May 2021. How dare you, just kidding ..OMG,LOL, enjoyed the video.
WOW!
There are people here with opinions about flying the American flag everywhere, especially on big trucks. 😶 Also, love the new glasses!
There is no happy medium when it comes to individualism, xenophobia etc... disguised as patriotism .
This American is going to sue you both for personal injury because you have made me laugh so hard my stomach muscles hurt. ❤️
Queue the triggered haters........ha!
How you feel about the British flag is how some young Americans feel about the flag, but I will say it is not the majority of people or even young people
Yes, shop lifting is probably even more prevalent in a dollar store for obvious reasons .
