    I feel like his biggest mistake was not being transparent about his appearance. There would've been less backlash had he brought up his vitiligo from the start. You can't be THAT huge and undergo that drastic of a change, and expect absolutely no commentary on it.

      True, I knew he wanted to be private and quiet but he was officially diagnosed in 1986 after he already started showing signs way back, I believe. I wish he could've did press conference or something on his condition and why he covered it with makeup, I swear if he announced it then rather than 1993, there would be no jokes or nothing. People wouldn't have questioned his condition. I wish he could've did something cause I know people who just surprised at his drastic change. People just saw him in the Thriller and WATW era and now is coming in the Bad Era and they are just wondering what went on with him. It's not like this man was out there also, he took a BIG HIATUS. 🤣 He hasn't been seen like that in those almost 3 years except some side projects and appearances in 1986 and even then you could see the changes. I mean it still doesn't give people the right to call him such names, mock his appearance and be ignorant in general but people were just puzzled. But also as well, this man doesn't owe anyone or anybody an interview but I just wish he was direct about what happened. Maybe people would've had some sympathy for him and his condition.

      I love MJ just like the next fan but let's be real, it wasn't just his skin, it was his eyebrows, nose, chin etc. MJ developed body dymorphia, much like Khloe Khardashian, from taunting from family and fans. I don't doubt that he had vitiligo because I saw pics of him with it but he used that as permission to change himself entirely. I always say he should've stopped during his Bad era. He still looked black and was real sexy.

      In the 80s being the biggest star on the planet I fully understand why he bleached out his skin so he didn’t look blotchy & patchy because of the Vitiligo. Nowadays it wouldn’t be a problem, back then the media would have just called him a freak. They called him that anyway unfortunately. All the people who called him a freak couldn’t do what he could though. He was better & more successful in this made up world of success than almost everybody. It’s sad he couldn’t see his own beauty inside & out. He would have never been satisfied no matter how many surgeries or albums he sold. Joseph scarred him from young with the beatings & abuse. He never recovered from it. Even in 2003 when he speaks about it, you can tell it still affected him. He was brilliant though. My mum see him at Wembley In 88 as a 17 year old. She’s been to about 200 concerts and she always tells me that MJ was the best she ever see live.

    Bad’s greatest achievement is Michael Jackson’s blooming creativity; not only did he co-produce the entire album but he also wrote nine of the final 11 songs. Writing for Albumism, Chris Lacy wrote "Comparisons with Off the Wall and Thriller are unimportant, except for this one: Bad is a pure pop masterpiece that stands parallel with-and, at times, eclipses-its classic predecessors"
    And 33 years after this album’s release, and 11 years since his passing, the whole world still has to answer right now: Who’s BAD?👊

    • @Vaisin
      @Vaisin 3 года назад +4

      Indeed, even though he had more involving in Thriller than it seemed. Writing by himself 4 of the 9 songs (I count a 5th one, P.Y.T., since in the album version he had some contributions (for instance, the lyrics) even though it was mostly by Jones and Ingram. He deserves a credit for that one too) and arranging his vocals (the completely arranged the vocals for the 4 songs he fully wrote and he even collaborated with Temperton to arrange his vocal performances on the songs the Englishman wrote).

Thriller sold more units in the US by a huge margin but in other parts of the world like the UK the difference was almost non existent also he crossed over into other forms of media like video games/movies during this time and crucially the Victory Tour (the Thriller tour in all but name) never left the US whereas the Bad Tour was a worldwide phenomenon that shattered records. My day met him in 1987.
    He was on tour in Sydney, Australia and my dad worked for CBS Records. There was a boat party in honour of the success for the ‘Bad’ album and Michael was in attendance for a show period of the time and everyone got in line to shake hands with Michael and my dad was one of them.
    Safe to say I was completely shocked when he told me this around the time of Michael’s death.
