Invincible wasn't a flop at all! There were more albums sold in Europe than in the US. Because Sony and Michael Jackson had a conflict, Sony didn't promote and sabotaged Michael's album Invincible. To punish Michael Jackson Sony were willing to sacrifice Invincible's success.
I remember on my 21st birthday during that time in 2001 my mother got 2 copies of the invincible album one for her and one for me. We actually listened to the album in the car for a mother and daughter outing we were dancing in the car. Mom cried on you are my life when she held my hand. That was an emotional moment. All n All the album is amazing
@@lalachannetwork5075 Thank you for sharing your story! I'm getting goose bumps, when I read your story. Your mom felt the same emotion that Michael felt for his children. Michael's message is love!
He deserved way better Good people live good live bad people live bad life Michael is a extraordinary person and should've lived a long happy life but he didn't to these monstrous disgusting money hungry b*tches😒
The fact Invincible only got one short film still blows my mind. I found a rare interview where Michael was talking about his ideas for a Threatened and Unbreakable short film. I'm so angry we never got to see those.
Unbreakable was supposed to be the lead single and they almost made a short film for it but a Hacker leaked the song and then MJ had to release invincible. Unbreakable is the best song on the album and one of MJs best songs. It's so sad that it wasn't a single 'cause it would have been mind-blowing
@@mrboooogle it’s so frustrating because to me, Unbreakable is a MASTERPIECE! i would have gone nuts to see a short film on it. The fact Michael saw what I saw and wanted it to be the lead single makes this even more frustrating
@@kaylenejantjes8113Kind of. He doesn't appear in it and its 5 minutes. I guess I’m more referring to the short films Michael usually makes/stars in. I would have loved to see that for Unbreakable.
It was black listed at the time. He had too many allegations out. But I remember that glitter took the fall for ridicule that year. It’s funny looking back on it now!
I was there live on September 10th in Madison Square Garden. Will never forget that concert. Never did I ever imagine I would actually see MJ in concert.
Invincible is a great album, his vocals are amazing, the beats are amazing, the lyrics are amazing. It was ahead of it’s time. Even in 2001 it sounds nothing like what the rest were doing. The album was top quality production. Incredibly underrated.
The medias wanted to put him down so bad. Remember he was the first true powerful black artist that could compete with the biggest white artists. His success especially from Thriller to Dangerous was phenomenal. They couldn’t erase the impact. Still now.
@@ktmusic8940 Yeah I agree with you and you're right ! Even though it sold "less" than the two previous ones, it's a great succes for a double album though.
Nobody is able to touch Michael's reputation and legend. His fan base is still growing. Even later his come back tour "This is it", within four hours, all 50 dates were sold out. He is an American legend, an Icon, a genius. The media wanted to put him down, so that Michael would get so many lawsuits, that he has to sell his ATV music catalog.
Was really interesting to see the contrast between the mainstream media just viciously tear into him and then all the celebrities/ordinary people praising him.
Press: "Michael is gonna have a hard time appealing to younger generation with Invincible" Me, in my 20s, consistently ranking Invincible as my favorite album from Michael- of all time...
Invincible is my favorite Michael Jackson album, too. Michael and the producers are such innovators of sound. My favorite songs are Heartbreaker, Unbreakable, Butterflies, Don't Walk Away and Threatened.
Here MJ is only 43 and he already achieved milestones that some people can only dream about. Some people at 43 still have not even figured out their lives or even have a proper saving account. MJ is really phenomenal and the best there ever will be.❤❤❤
Michael was so mad at Sony for not backing Invincible with the promotion it deserved. He also didn’t want “You Rock My World” to be the lead single. He wanted “Unbreakable” to come out first. He had major ideas for the video and everything and Sony scrapped it and said no.
That is true! Sony didn't even released "What more can I give", although Michael wanted to donate the money to the September 11th attack victims. Just to prevent Michael's success. New York played it anyway! I think there was even a lawsuit, Sony sued Michael that Invincible wasn't successful. Michael didn't go on tour to promote the album, because nobody went on tour after the September 11th attacks and because of the conflict between Michael and Sony. Michael won that lawsuit.
Despite how horrible of a decade it was for him personally, the one thing from the 2000s decade that always makes me smile/happy for Michael is the friendship he developed with Chris Tucker, Chris really was a true friend to Michael and defended him throughout that period and even after his death. Despite all the negativity going on in his life, whenever Chris was around, Michael always had a smile/laugh on his face and that’s something he really needed at that time. Much respect to Chris Tucker Fr, even the behind the scenes stories he’s told about him and Michael showed that he did what a real friend is supposed to do and tried to make Michael laugh during hard times
The Invincible Album was more famous and more sold in Europe than in the US. Sony tried to sabotage Invincible and there was a lack of promotion to prevent the success of Invincible. To be honest I think it was about a fight about the ATV music catalog. Michael owned over half of Sony. Sony wanted for years the music catalog back. I enjoyed Invincible as well, I really like it.
@@DJDoubleCee Michael had many enemies in the US. Europe was more neutral and just enjoyed his music. In America many people were jealous and greedy. Everybody tried to get some money out of Michael. That was really sad to watch. To try to do attempts of extortion of money or agencies as AEG and HBO who wanted to make money out off Michael was a huge problem for Michael. Another aspect is that I think that even Michael didn't escape racism in the USA.
@@for-house-stark Compared to regular album sales it’s impressive but Michael’s previous albums sold around 25 to 40 million copies. Kind of a shame that Invincible didn’t achieve that.
Just reading the description and haven't watched the video yet- I didn't realize Invincible was postponed 2 years! Originally was meant to be released in '99?! Crazy. I kind of like that our last album from Michael was in the 2000s decade. It makes it feel like he was here longer and his music thus spanned another decade ❤
I think was postponed due the accident in munich, he did'nt do the millenium concerts, i want think that is the reason. After that he change and take a lot of painkillers.
@@Rickil96trollencio I think it was postponed because Sony wanted to punish Michael Jackson, they sabotaged and they didn't promote Michael's album. After the September 11th attack Michael did a performance with a lot of musicians "What more can I give", he wanted to donate the money to the victims of the attack. Sony didn't release that song to punish him, but New York played it anyway.
@@hannaz4617 yes they had a lot of problems, michael did not include sony in the 30th anniversary concerts and they got angry with him. Also michael did'nt want to tour and the album had a cost of 30 millions, he had a lot of money only in the videoclip of YRMW puting many stars and making that in another "smooth criminal" Yes michael wants release unbreakable and i think made the video reluctantly. Michael and Sony, both acted badly They did not resolve their differences in the most appropriate way.
The crazy part is that a lot of the music sounds so ahead of it’s time. You could also say it sounds a bit like “2000s rnb” but I wouldn’t quite compare it to his work in the 90s but yeah interesting stuff!!
@@Rickil96trollencio Michael didn’t include them, because they were actively sabotaging the album. He only did the 30th anniversary concerts to get a little promo for the album, because that was literally the only kind of promotion it was getting. By this point, Sony had already leaked the entire album onto their Russian site, over a month before the official worldwide release. Every track could be downloaded in full before the album was even released.
@@hazel4616 I 100% disagree. I would argue that Michael gained his reputation back in 2006 during the world music awards. The crowd, the applause, and the whole night itself revolved around Michael. He blew everyone away just by singing a few lines of we are the world. He was always the king but that night he cemented his throne.
This is my FAVORITE ALBUM OF ALL TIME OF MICHAEL JACKSON. On my bus ride today, I was playing 'Threatened' and 'Heaven Can Wait' on loop. My #1 go to work out song is 'Unbreakable'- everytime I hear it, I get an adrenaline rush because I think i'm on the treadmill. I'm also in my 20s so to hell with what the press was talking about 'Invincible won't appeal to the younger generation'. Here I am, a millennial in 2023 and THIS ALBUM APPEALS TO ME!
Crazy how they tried to disrespect you rock my world, that song is a classic in the Black Community and all other races loved that song. That song was perfect with the new style of 2000's black music
Tuesday October 30, 2001! I was in college and had two classes that day. All I could think about was going and grabbing Invincible! Once the second class was done, I ran out of that class like The Flash and hopped on a train and a bus to the nearest Best buy. As soon as I walked through the entrance of Best Buy, there were all of the colors for the Invincible album. I was mostly attracted to the blue color, so I got that one. The rest is "History"!

I can't stand how ridiculous, awful, and dead wrong the press was to Michael.
We have always been proud of Michael Jackson, he is the legendary artist of all time. All the projects done on his behalf are once again announcing to the world what a great artist he is. The Almighty Lord rewarded him as a star and this will always be the case.
My favorite thing about this channel is its honesty, no sugarcoating. As much as we love Michael his health was failing, and was not doing great performance wise on stage either. So much of him was crumbling. It also shows just how cruel the world was to him in this time of need, starting right at the early 2000s. Heartbreaking on all sides.
Come on he was doing great on stage yea the channel doesn’t sugarcoat but the reality is MJ’s health was great even as a 50 year old man his doctor who did the autopsy on her admitted this
@@pressurejawn he was drugged out of his mind and nearly slipped on the red carpet for the 30th anniversary show He had nose surgeries that affected his ability to speak and breathe around this time There are emails from AEG stating his health was failing and that they believed he wouldn’t even be alive for the final shows He was wearing a back brace during the Martin Bashir interview Please don’t be that one fan that ignores the fact he was in need, even if you love everything he did Acknowledge he needed help, while also appreciating his work
@@HedgeOnStage I agree with everything, except for the the performance part. The first show in September 7 was not great, because like you said, he was heavily medicated on Demerol. The September 10 show was spectacular though. That’s where most of the footage from the special comes from. He really proved that he hadn’t lost a step in that second show.

everything seemed so positive, except for the press i gotta admit, when the internet wasnt so widely available as today, i also thought of him being so weird because all informations i gained were from the tabloids, i still love his arts regardless but now, the internet has everything under its fingertip, it's so easy to trace information, so eventually i realized how the media treated his image sure, he is not a naive angel as most of his crazy fans claim, he did savy bussinesses and calculated many public moves, but he was also the most kind hearted celebrity ever when youre in such a high status of fame, it's impossible to keep your public image clean, everything that has the name Michael Jackson on it sells
14:05 My favorite moment of the Invincible signing. The clip gets cut off here but Michael tells her 'See you at the wedding..' LOL And then he continues to wear the ring she gave him throughout the whole signing ❤
Love this video, many people can say that Invincible is a flop but it's his most slept on album ever - not gonna lie that transition from that Beat It explosion to the 9/11 footage scared me. '01 was a good year but a bad year also..
Michael always comes out on top even in this era. Never underestimate him. That 9/11 part shook me to my core….. Man devastation that was and how everything changed afterwards.
I paused the video on one of the news articles to read what they were actually saying back then. "With his artificially pale skin and surgically adjusted features, he already looks like a cadaver raised from the dead." 5:00 That has to be the most horrendous thing I have ever read someone say about somebody else. The kind of awful press Michael had to endure all his life saddens me. I wish he didn't have to go through that.
This type of "reporting" was inescapable from 1995 until his death. It got to the point where I stopped reading articles or watching news segments about MJ because it was too hard to endure the vile comments. It must have stung a lot worse for the man himself.
Oh, I love this Invincible album, I feel like it came out yesterday. It sounds so modern that even now this album cannot be compared with any artist of 2023. Michael is a genius. Not to mention this album was the first time we were introduced to what is now dubstep. Michael was always ahead of his time.
And those same news outlets who trashed him for years immediately started gushing about him once he died. One of the many reasons mainstream media is disgusting.

Michael Jackson was scheduled to be in a conference on the 109th floor of the World Trade Center's north tower at 8:45am, but luckily he missed it. It was a close call.
25 million tuned in to his 30th anniversary and his album sold over 13million world wide and that’s with little to none promotion from Sony how is that a flop ? This world literally destroyed that man
I’d say America destroyed him. It seems only American media had something against him and was always looking for some way to ridicule him…shit, they’re still doing that even today. Other countries seemed to have great respect for him. It’s no wonder he didn’t want to stay here after that trial.
@@zdubbs7609 That's so true! He was more respected in Europe than in America. I think people in America tried to abuse him, to get a hand on his bank account. The greed and jealousy factor in America destroyed him. The amount of lawsuit he had to deal with is really ridiculous. Women sued him that they had children from him, people said that they wrote his songs, people sued him for everything. There is only so much you can tolerate. HBO had sent Michael on tour, he made a contract, that they are not allowed to say anything negative about him. The contract was not terminated. They wanted to make money out off him. When Michael was even dead HBO wanted to make money out off Michael again, they created Leaving Neverland. They breached the contract. They did the interview with the most evil liars, Safechuck and Robson, just to say, they didn't even said any negative about him, they just wanted to tell what happened. But Safechuck and Robson really thought they can make $1.3 billion. Shame on them. They are vile traitors. Oprah knew that Robson was caught lying in court 2016. But she works for HBO, Geffen, Weinstein.
@@hannaz4617 Exactly. What’s crazy to me is how there are tons of celebrities who deal with lawsuits such as stolen music and stuff like that, but the way they treated Michael just felt different. Like there was clear MALICE in how he was treated compared to everyone else. Constantly making fun of his looks, purposely using bad pictures in magazines to dehumanize him as much as they possibly could, calling him a weirdo. Straight up bullying him. I’ve NEVER seen any other celebrity be treated the way Michael Jackson was. He exposed a really ugly side of this country and not many people are talking about it.
@@zdubbs7609 Exactly, that is the truth. That was one of the most shameful episodes in journalistic history. One day David Geffen, who is gay, wanted to get close to Michael. Michael rejected him. From that day on Michael was on top of enemy list of the gay mafia in Hollywood. Geffen, who is a billionaire, Weinstein, Epstein gave up to $200.000 to the media for any negative report (that was confirmed in interviews with different doctors of Michael and artists who worked with Michael together). The reason was, to get to the point that he is constantly sued, so that he has to pay a lot of money and one day he has to sell his ATV music catalog. The other reason was, when the attention was on Michael, that criminal as Weinstein, Epstein were more protected. Geffen, Oprah, Weinstein financed Leaving Neverland, that was made to make money out off Michael but also to really destroy his reputation. Because Leaving Neverland is based on lies and contradictions, extortion of money, you can see that Geffen still wanted to destroy Michael's legacy and reputation. What they did is slander, defamation of character, distress to the family. In most countries the reputation of dead people is protected. There are defamation laws to protect dead people. That is one thing that has to be integrated in the American law system. One time Michael said that Geffen is his biggest enemy. I even think that Michael didn't really escaped racism.

Having Michael Jackson around was a treat for sure, a long way from the peak in the 80s but it's the King Of Pop at the end of the day people will always be drawn to him.
This is extremely well-made. I have such affection for this era, probably in large part because this was when I first became aware of Michael Jackson. It was a couple years later that I actually got an idea of the music and the man, but I remember leaving a Walmart as a very young boy and seeing the album advert on the entrance stands. And what I recalled wasn't the Invincible album art, even though that's what it had to have been--I always remembered more of a dark silhouette of his face--and just that name, "Michael Jackson." That name, the drama, the urgency of it telling you all you needed to know, even as a child. That's magic. That's Michael Jackson. Blows me away that these fools didn't know what they had in their hands when Invincible came out. Still one of my favourite albums.
There was supposed to be one. Then 9/11 happened. Michael canceled his invincible tour and never re scheduled. To be fair most American artists did the exact same thing. Then 03-2005 happened and Michael became truly broken. This is It was really supposed to be the Invincible tour in actuality
Yes! I love that part about Joseph. He paints him in a positive light for the first time. That story about how he would bring them home donuts cause he knew it was Michael’s favorite or whatever ??
Thanks for doing this video, I bought all the colors and shared with my family. I still love Invincible album, it's under-rated work except to this day I feel Michael should have included Xscape & We've had enough tracks in that album.
It took me awhile to watch this video. 2001 is a year where things started to unravel for Michael. The whole decade of the 2000s for that matter. But 2000 was just the calm before the storm the decade would bring. I have no idea how & why Michael got mixed up with a shyster like Shmuley Boteach. Why him of all people? Michael is STILL trying to merge his artistic endeavors with his humanitarian endeavors like he intended for the 1990s. But little did he know that his artistic endeavors would be sabotaged by his own label who wanted his catalog at all costs. Michael took Guile's advice & went home to be a family man so no more superpowered world tours. But we finally got that Jacksons Reunion before the world changed forever that September. Michael would have been in the World Trade Center on September 11th if he wasn't up all night talking to his mother Katherine. Jermaine relayed that story & it really puts it into perspective how venomous The Powers That Be were becoming to Michael. It just feels like he was being set up this entire decade for his downfall & death. He's trying to Heal The World through his art & actions & they're trying to Kill His World. I literally saw 9/11 happening on the news because I was looking for feedback on the 30th Anniversary concerts. It's gonna be hard to relive the 2000s in these retrospectives. But I was glad to defend him online during the siege years. Will always be proud that I backed him up in his fight against Sony & most especially in the 2nd Witchhunt.
I was hoping you’d show when Randy pissed him off. “You down with OPP?” 😂😂😂😂😂 I’ve watched that special so many times. I love when all the Jacksons get together.

Unbreakable was originally going to be released as the lead single, but Sony went with You Rock My World. I would've gone with the former because that song would've been his entrance song to the new millennium. With the help of the late great Notorious B.I.G. Unbreakable would've been an MJ song for the millennials at the time. You Rock My World was a cheesy romance while Unbreakable was all about self-empowerment and self-improvement.
Omg thank you for sharing. Unbreakable is seriously underrated. It’s so powerful. Never have heard a song even from Jackson like it before. It didn’t get the love it deserved
If it were up to me. These would be the singles I would’ve released: - Unbreakable (first) with a visual - You Rock My World (keep it the way they did it) - Butterflies (with a visual) Omg. Butterflies with a visual he was in would be monumental..
it would have been akin to scream which was a good strategy and number ONE as an album with HIStory and a top ten US billboard single. But noooo Sony literally sabotaged him.
I think you have to be realistic about the Invincible era - it wasn't great for Michael. He released a bit of a mediocre album and his public image was at rock bottom. He lost his animation and appeared to be zoned out most the time on various prescription drugs and pain killers. You can tell by the album and his artistic and life choices that he had lost touch with reality. I know that sounds like a horrible thing to say but I am saying that as a genuine fan. I think a more interesting take for me is could Michael have regained his popularity after Invincible? I think the answer to that is yes. Had Michael survived to perform the This Is It concert series, or even just a portion of them, I think he very much would have cemented himself again. I am still astounded by some of the ideas that were being conjured for that show. It truly was the greatest show that never happened. I also think in the right headspace he was capable of releasing a relevant album. The song "Hold My Hand" with Akon is nice enough to suggest it could have had some chart success. The thing that would have always hung over him is his public image. Michael had A LOT of work to do and undo to put himself right with the public. The media went into overdrive to destroy him. But I think the This Is It concerts truly could have saved his career. For me 2001 is one of the sadder periods in his life. He looked like a deer in headlights. A man dazed and confused by the industry he used to pioneer, looking for inspiration from those he inspired in the first place.
Invincible - a mediocre album?! HOW DARE you say that! my FAVORITE Michael album of all time. Yup including Thriller. As an RnB music lover at heart, Invincible is perfection. I feel honored that the last living album we have from him is RnB in genre- feels like a gift. And it was SUPERB. Second- I don’t agree with your This Is It commentary. The man was 120 lbs 5’11 at the time of his death. He was getting frail, thin, and was turning lifeless before our eyes. As much as it pains me to say it, I don’t know how he was going to pull one show, let alone 10- let alone 50 for This Is It. I don’t think it is the ‘comeback popularity’ you are thinking of it as.
@@crazy4corbinbleux *Invincible* by industry standards in 2001 was a disappointment. It was not a flop by any means it was a successful release but with Eminem, Beyonce, N Synch, Brittany Spears and Christina Aguilera they were all outselling him in 01'.

What is with this stupid press saying his music doesn't appeal to the younger age groups?? When I think of Michael Jackson- I don't think of age groups. He transcends age, color of skin, gender, etc. you name it. There is a reason why a 4 year old and a 94 year old all know of and listen to Michael Jackson.
That is so true, he really united cultures, different countries, ages, genders, people with different skin colors. Because I think his expression in dance and music, his lyrics about problematic social situations in the world, was completely understood in the world. @@hannaz4617 First of all, thank u my moonwalker friend, sometimes I really think that I'm the only one with that thoughs in my mind :) In fact I watched Super Bowl '93 a few times and yeah, u are absolutely right he is amazing, he sang Heal the world with 3500 children, who else did that...nobody. Since then the halftime of Super Bowl is that popular, because of him, because once again he broke the all steriotypes. And not only on Super Bowl, actually on every concert that he did he sing Heal the world and We are the world. And maybe a week ago, I was reading an article about the best Super Bowl halftime shows, and Michael was way down the list because he's not only performed his best songs and hits, he's also performed world-uniting ones, and that counts as something negative from the author and I was like wtf. I couldn't believe that 30 years after this show, he still remains misunderstood. Still, it's nice to know that there are others who think like me, appreciating the legacy he left to us, appreciating that he cared about the kids and the world, and wasn't just another dumb star who after 5 years nobody remember. Thank u again, u make my day :)))
The CNN comments during his Nasdaq visit ugh disgusting. I remember this year very well. There was an orchestrated attempt by the media to put this album down and question his musical royalty all because of his war with Sony which hadn’t unraveled completely until 2002.
I will never understand the strange play by play of events with Michael's Madison Square Garden show being on 9/10/01 and then the following next day, 9/11 happens.
His speech on importance of childhood is proven correct by psychologists, even kate the princess of wales in the uk is working on this. Having a secure loving stable childhood up to the age of 7, sets us up a an adult for life, and most of your brain is developed by this age. Difficulties in adulthood-depression,anxiety, law breakers, drug addicts, alcoholism, lonliness, can be avoided if a child is loved and treated well. So the world's problems-poverty,war, power hungry politicians, could be prevented by loving children. This is based on Carl Jung and attachment theory, ego development. Michael knew and was right all along. He could have created world peace..but the world was not ready.
@07:20 which is true during that era, as a teenager, we mainly knew about MJ through the media frenzy about him. The attention went to rising postars at that moment like Nsync, B2B, Spears and etc.
people can call invincible a flop but a flop to mj is a mega success to the top stars of today
invincible was a great album! maybe a little bit too much corny ballads, but otherwise 👌
yeah that’s what they don’t get, mike was on his own level

Invincible is a great album, his vocals are amazing, the beats are amazing, the lyrics are amazing. It was ahead of it’s time. Even in 2001 it sounds nothing like what the rest were doing. The album was top quality production. Incredibly underrated.
Agreed, probably would've paved the way for 2000s music if Sony didn't mess it up
The medias wanted to put him down so bad. Remember he was the first true powerful black artist that could compete with the biggest white artists. His success especially from Thriller to Dangerous was phenomenal. They couldn’t erase the impact. Still now.

So true

I enjoyed Michael’s Invincible album. Too bad it didn’t sell so well compared to his other albums. I wish his record label did more promotion on it.
@@hannaz4617 Not just Invincible but it looks like all of Michael’s albums after Bad sold better in other countries besides the US.

@@zdubbs7609 its bc michael never fought back because if he had fought back, he would have wasted so much time and money in court. he always settled. this is almost identical to what is going on with britnye spears except she is fighting back. I hope she saw what they did to michael. When the agents, attorneys, etc dont get their cut, boy do they get mad.
Michael is an Angel 😇 forever and he will always be innocent forever ❤😇❤️
YES!!!!!! Michael was and will be innocent forever and ever. Michael's bank account is closed!
Wow thank you for sharing! Do you mind sharing how old you were when u discovered him ?
I was at that concert 9/7 2001. Got to see my hero. Did not sit down one time.
I'm n tears I miss The King Of Pop Michael Jackson 🥲😪🕊️
The last album 😭😭😭😭😭
I think invincible era couldve been his best era if he had an invincible tour, its still very underated however it could of been soooo good
There was supposed to be one. Then 9/11 happened. Michael canceled his invincible tour and never re scheduled. To be fair most American artists did the exact same thing.
Then 03-2005 happened and Michael became truly broken.
This is It was really supposed to be the Invincible tour in actuality
His Oxford speech is well worth listening to, especially the part about his dad Joseph.
Yes! I love that part about Joseph. He paints him in a positive light for the first time. That story about how he would bring them home donuts cause he knew it was Michael’s favorite or whatever ??
@@crazy4corbinbleux mentioning that little gesture humanised Joe for the first time.
@@Neezabja yes, yes yes!!
Thanks for doing this video, I bought all the colors and shared with my family. I still love Invincible album, it's under-rated work except to this day I feel Michael should have included Xscape & We've had enough tracks in that album.
We've had enough is a masterpiece ❤
Exactly! We've had enough is one of my favorite MJ's song ever
Finally I’ve been waiting
I can't imagine losing MJ on 9/11
Thank u guys for this one ! Been waiting a while for this
2001 always hold special place in my heart
His shyness at 1:03 I can’t ❤
❤❤ thank you so much for sharing. Thank you for being there when most of us weren’t. Do you mind sharing your age and gender?
Also do u mind sharing what forum you used to be on to defend him? Is it the MJJforum that still exists today?
I was hoping you’d show when Randy pissed him off. “You down with OPP?” 😂😂😂😂😂 I’ve watched that special so many times. I love when all the Jacksons get together.
For the longest time I thought Michael was legit pissed off at Randy. He gave him that face 😂😂
He was mad him? Why
@@hiromamoru8978 Randy was singing the words to OPP which is a rap by the group Naughty By Nature. They sampled the Jackson 5 song “ABC” back in the 90s.
@@hiromamoru8978 For the longest time I thought he was really mad but it's part of the show- they are acting it out
Unbreakable was originally going to be released as the lead single, but Sony went with You Rock My World.
These would be the singles I would’ve released:
- Unbreakable (first) with a visual
- You Rock My World (keep it the way they did it)
- Butterflies (with a visual)
Omg. Butterflies with a visual he was in would be monumental..
it would have been akin to scream which was a good strategy and number ONE as an album with HIStory and a top ten US billboard single. But noooo Sony literally sabotaged him.
@@jeeess9979 Let's deliver justice to this album and make Unbreakable its lead single.
@@djcease1996 you cannot compare a legend releasing his last record to fetus teen pop stars Britney Christina and Justin. It doesn’t make sense. Would be like comparing doja cat releasing a newer more popular record than Beyoncé. Does that make any sense? They are not on equal playing fields
The last full year of Michael Jackson as a stage performing artist
Since this is the tail end of the King of Pop career. I hope we going to go back in time during the Jackson 5/Motown and Jackson’s/CBS - “Year in Review” now because I really enjoy this series. It would be great content to witness the career trajectory.
I really don't like watching some of the footage from the Invincible era because he was always high on something
Invincible era😍😍❤️👍
finally you made the most important year!! 2001 !!! please do 2002 AND ESPECIALLY 2003... his life drastically took a turn in 2003 in my opinion
Loved this year!
I really like the detail channel of the King. Plus, I loved the Invincible album…very underrated. Cry has to be one of my favorites
Couldn't agree more! I love cry!
4:45 I wanna take whatever that guy is taking, on the left!!! He’s in another dimension for sure!
Anyway, another great video, thanks “The Detail”! :)
Lol “that guy” is Jay Z 🤦🏽♀️ 😂
4:45 Jay's in a mood 😂
I wonder what he was thinking that time lol
@@v.dicksoncouldn’t process the aura he just witnessed
invincible is a great underrated album period those scumbags from sony did michael wrong, it's so sad seeing this as an MJ fan 2001 turned out to be the last good year MJ ever had in the public eye before he passed away 8 years later rest in heaven michael jackson
Não consigo evitar de desejar a morte de Tommy Motola, todos os dias.
The moment he died , This album was playing everywhere and anywhere all over America , invincible is now probably 10 million seller now . Sorry, is that a flop ?
MJ is my everything my hero. I love you.❤mj
In hindsight Invincible was
1 of the best album's that year it's just everyone he influenced stepped there game up heavy Usher, N'sync Destiny's Child Brittany Spears and Jay-Z you rock my world was the best video that year and butterflies stayed in rotation on R&B stations artist today would kill to have his career and influence
In that sense Michael used music as a language to create awareness. That's why I love him so much. He really had this pure, innocent soul. What you said is the truth, his fan base is constantly increasing. Legends never die!!!!
@@hannaz4617 one of the things what I really love in his music is that he dont sing only for love, love and love. I love his songs for tabloids, earth, ect. He have song for every aspect of live, I think thats why he is very unique and special of all of us...Moonwalkers :)
@@miglemam Yes, exactly, I think you are completely right! He touched the souls of so many different people, from different cultures, different ages! Life is tough, we had and are still dealing with the covid situation, we have a brutal war going on, many people are struggling health wise and financially. Michael was able to built communities, united people and uplifted and is still uplifting the spirits of people. That is what music is supposed to be doing and Michael did exactly that. You can watch that on the super bowl halftime show. Michael was an artist who united the people, he wanted love and peace, and he did exactly that. That is the difference of Michael and any other artist who performed at the super bowl halftime show. I agree with you 100%, my Moonwalker friend! :)
@@hannaz4617 First of all, thank u my moonwalker friend, sometimes I really think that I'm the only one with that thoughs in my mind :)
In fact I watched Super Bowl '93 a few times and yeah, u are absolutely right he is amazing, he sang Heal the world with 3500 children, who else did that...nobody.
You can never destroy what God puts in motions,no matter how much u hate. I must say New York taught him how to step out n grow
I will never understand the strange play by play of events with Michael's Madison Square Garden show being on 9/10/01 and then the following next day, 9/11 happens.
This is the era of MJ that I got to experience
Same!
Me too
No fair 😢
Same with Earth Song, ahead of his time.
Always ahead of his time yet somehow fit the era he was in.
@07:20 which is true during that era, as a teenager, we mainly knew about MJ through the media frenzy about him. The attention went to rising postars at that moment like Nsync, B2B, Spears and etc.
Very sad years for Mike. He was no longer Michael Jackson. It seemed he'd had enough of everything
Can't wait to see about 2002. Michael Jackson is amazing.
you guys really did that anniversary to 9/11 transition.
Invincible was actually great
How is nobody talking about SPEECHLESSS…that song literally changed my life !!!
