"The one who wanted world peace but didn't have peace of mind." Yep, this beautiful human being that the world called him 'weird' but for him it's the world that is weird..
Always thought his peak wasn't Thriller or Bad...but Dangerous. After 30 years it still sounds like it's been released yesterday. Also, i think it's his most HONEST album, in which he finally opens up about media, relationships, sex, politics without constructed images like the one he had for Bad or forced love songs ballads. Artistically speaking, it's definitely his best work.

Dangerous will forever be my favorite album of his.... I hold it near and dear to my heart ... My mom gave me the cassette of it when I was about 3 years old? And I had it for years.... I loved pretty much every song 💙
It’s about time, Dangerous got a documentary. I’ve seen documentaries on Thriller and Bad but I was kinda disappointed me that we didn’t see too much behind the scenes work on Dangerous.
In my opinion, learning how Michael conceived "Dangerous" is the most interesting piece of work he's done outside of "Off The Wall", "Thriller", & "Bad". At that point in his career, he's learned a lot from Quincy on how to produce excellent music and made a gutsy move to depart from him. Surely "Dangerous" was not as commercially successful as his previous work. Learning that Michael pushed his own boundaries to go further beyond the genres he was accustomed to and hiring Teddy to help bolster his new sound is a feat that not too many artists and producers can achieve nowadays. I bet Michael seeing Janet do so well with "Rhythm Nation: 1814" had to do with his repetitious album delays and wanting to perfect it so much until he received the green light from Quincy.
@@sanaon7453 One thing is certain and has been documented--Quincy encouraged Mike to work with new producers after their decade long (maybe a little more) run. He told Michael to try his luck working with a brand new hit-making producer named Teddy Riley. In Quincy's mind, he felt it was time for Michael to move on and explore new horizons.
This was MY Michael Jackson era. I remember reading all the articles and rumors about the album and waiting with so much anticipation for it. I remember sitting with my radio/cassette player waiting to record Black or White as soon as it was played. I loved it from the start! I played it over and over and over. Then came the music video. Perfection. I bought the album on cassette and played it non-stop for weeks. Then I got a discman and bought it on CD. Every part of this album & album cycle thrilled me. The songs, the artwork, the videos, the tour, the TV performances, & the interviews. It's 2021 and I still listen to tracks from this album regularly. I get the same thrill I got 30 years ago. This album is pure magic.
🔥🔥💪🏽😁 That's my favorite one!!! It's his best one!!!! See music is more about soul power than skill, his soul power was its highest on this record!! He song hisdeepest about love, and the dance moves were more two steppish and lit and laid back. As a dancer, you must incorporate a solid mix of two stepping and just laying back getting crunk, and then layer it out with more break dancing and pop locking!! His later years were fire, but he didn't just relax and play with it, he was more focused on tearing competition to shreds in the field of breaking. I like the OFF THE WALL ERA THE MOST, and his earliest dancing the MOST!!! That was more soulful and LIT than all his after work. Itstge SOUL POWER for me, I never go by JUST AWESOME SKILL SET. That's cool and all,but you gotta DIG DEEP, have a powerful message and make people cry. I think it took me awhile to 'catch up' to Dangerous because it was just to different than his previous albums. Especially since he sang with much more intensity and there was a rawness to a lot of the songs.
Many thanks to The Detail for the first part of a very valuable piece of work. Dangerous remains the most under-appreciated work in Michael Jackson’s catalogue. It is a musical marvel. When "Dangerous" came out in 1991 I personally didn't understand where Michael Jackson was doing & coming from. I didn't know he was looking for New Jack sounds & latest beats technology. This video helps me alot. Most importantly I did bought the album because it was Michael Jackson. Now I can enjoy the album better than I was younger.

I love that documentary about Dangerous album. Its been the best album of 1991. I was 5 when it came out. Now I'm 35 now. I still got the album since. It's been outstanding. Happy Thanksgiving and Happy 30th Anniversary Dangerous. I can't wait for articles and reviews about his album.
Finally DANGEROUS is getting the respect and critical analysis it deserves. MJ was under a lot of pressure after releasing three back to back classic solo albums that changed Pop forever. DANGEROUS was his cultural reset and a risk that further changed popular music.
IT did not have the same impact Thriller had in the 80s, lets be honest MJ was not longer Cool to most teens by the early 90s, grunge and gangsta rap took over.
@@johnsonmark65 yes rap grew in popularity in the 90s but R&B still reigned. Remember the Time was played on every station and everyone loved the video. MJ had hits off of this album.
@@johnsonmark65fwck u mean he was no longer cool? Y’all US ppl act like US is the ONLY country on EARTH. Do you have any idea how HUGE Dangerous was in Europe, especially the ex communist countries? Hell, he even had his GREATEST concert ever in BUCHAREST during the Dangerous tour, the concert that was released exclusively on DVD AND his Ultimate Collection box set. I know how huge rap has started to become in the 90’s, but when it comes to MJ, he was no longer just a US matter, he was a worldwide phenomenon & for many of us it was really the Dangerous era that got us more into him
I can't thank you enough for all you are doing for MJ's legacy! Again a so well researched and absolutely interesting video! I get a whole new view on the transition from the Bad era to the Dangerous era. I also like it so much that you don't judge anyone but just tell the story how it happened.
Dangerous is MJs must influence album in my opinion! That era of MJ. Raised the bar to an unprecedented and beautiful part of his career! He put so much into this body of work! It was first album that broke sale without Q. Jackson proved on this album and that era that he was a icon! And a living Legend! Happy 30th anniversary! Dangerous!!!! My favorite album!
Happy New Year. You're speaking facts. MJ had wanted to evolve and he even wrote in his memoirs about how he wanted to go beyond the latest drum sound. MJ linking up with Teddy Riley who also co-produced and produced Michael's brother's radio hit She was a excellent partnership
I always thought Dangerous and all these songs about a woman, is actually symbolic for Fame. And how he felt Fame was dangerous, wanted to replace him "who is it" "in the closet" always questioning is sexuality and how he pretty much had to keep his love life locked away. This album was a continuation to Leave me alone. A F you to the critics which is why they called it Disjointed. Shit that's all they could say, mostly cause they felt hip-hop wouldn't last and they just didn't get. Critics can't tell the difference between a horn and a fart coming out their own ass. F em 😆
I swear I wished so badly Mike included Someone put your hand out. It fit perfectly, and was an amazing R&B ballad of it’s time. I think it would’ve been a hit if he had an amazing video included. It reminded me of Janet’s “Come Back To Me” or has that kind of vibe. The only question would be what song be switched out. I would have replaced She’s driving me wild. With anything really lol. That song just felt unnecessary.
Dangerous was such an underrated album, what an incredible masterpiece. Just knowing that he also recorded "Blood on the Dancefloor", "Earth Song", "Ghosts" and more for the Dangerous album, makes it even more special. WOW. Bad is my favorite MJ album but Dangerous is a very very close second.
The detail is doing more jobs for Michael's legacy than the estate ever does . Missed opportunity after missed opportunity like Thriller 35th Anniversary and also Dangerous 30th Anniversary album .
Dangerous might be Mj’s best album. Such a terrific rollercoaster ride. It’s got sick beats, heartfelt ballads, classical and rock and roll. I have it on vinyl and I think I enjoy it more today than I did as a 10 year old kid in 1992. Great channel, by the way. Newly subscribed and I’m hooked.
Dangerous was very looking toward the 90's. I love MJ embraced New Jack & Hip Hop elements into his established style. The album suffered "CD Syndrome". Instead of a 50 min LP runtime, it was now 80 min. Many artists of that era were trying to fill the media, but cutting some songs / fading out sooner on others would've served the album better.
The irony with LL Cool j was he was the was isolated from the world. since Michael was traveling the world constantly and LL was basically stuck in a regional area being only hip-hop Michael was universal: pop, hip hop, rock, soul, R&B
The allegations really tore up Dangerous and his touring. It could've been so much more, but then the media saw Michael as being literally Dangerous in the wrong way. Still, out of Thriller, Bad and Dangerous, Dangerous wins. It's so diverse, it delves into every musical genre hot at the time. It gives you a taste of the man at truly solo. He didn't need Quincy Jones.
Amazing work. After all that hard work, cutting edge studio production, Dangerous was knocked off the number 1 spot Nirvana. Apparently the day Kurt finished recording the single Teen Spirit he was homeless, living in his car. Then goes on to top MJ. Times were definitely changing
@@nunyabiznes6243 It's not about how many at number It's ABOUT GETTING TO NUMBER ONE! It's about a homeless guy who most people labeled a 'loser' knocked a person who people pretty much worship as a God OFF THE NUMBER ONE SPOT. It's a 'Rocky' story, where the underdog defies all odds.
@@IndiesoulMusik lol, I'm a musician myself. I love the nevermind album and I think it's a great work of art. However, this is a video celebrating Michael Jackson's work. We don't need your commentary on how it got knocked out of the number one spot by Nirvana.
Dangerous was my Favorite album from MJ..Me being a New Yorker I been street dancing to Teddy and the new jack swing sound before that..and when MJ and Teddy came together...and put out Dangerous.,At the time all the dance songs on that album struck a chord with every dancer in Brooklyn I know...I try to pattern my albums the same way...Thank You for this great Documentary..
This album made me a fan of music. I used to love watching all the videos from the Dangerous album on BET, VH1 and MTV as a kid. Even though hip hop is the genre of music that I do myself, I'll always be a huge M.J fan
OMG this documentary was so damn good.....but I must admit if MJ would have stuck to the original plan and made Dangerous like Off The Wall that would have been dope as hell
My faves and why 1. Dangerous ( His most artistic. I loved how he took risk in a emerging genre in which was considered underground at the time. He could've played it safe and stuck to pop funk. I also feel this album was the perfect marriage of young innocent MJ and Adult mature MJ. His artistic peak) Who is it and Will you be there I can play everyday for the rest of my life and I will no complain. I can play Dangerous with some close friends during car drives if I'm feeling edgy 2. Bad ( One song away from a perfect album Subtract Just good friends and add streetwalker Bad was his vocal prime, musically, and emotionally. Bad had really sticky songs that are perfectly produced. Each song is like explosion of carefully painted art, so much detail. I feel bad is his most legendary album although people will say Thriller.) Liberian Girl is fav. I can play with my common MJ fan friends, it's a safe middle ground. 3. Thriller ( I really enjoy Thriller because I feel it's oozing with soul and talent. Everything about this album always gives me the nostalgic feels, as if I traveled back in time and I'm chilling with MJ at the studio. The music sounds simple on the surface but the more you listen the more layers you hear. This album will always have me taping a foot & singing along. I don't have a fav on Thriller because every song is so good in it's own right. Thriller feels really cliché to play so I actually would only play it if I'm feeling nostalgic or with regular people because everybody knows 2/3's of Thriller even none MJ fans 4. Off the Wall ( This is the 1st full MJ album ever heard 2009 after his death I was 14. I played it almost every day. I remember loving how funky Off the Wall was and trying to song all the falsettos back in the day. I really like the album but it lacks that diversity of his later albums. Once I get past I can't help it on the album I don't even want to listen to the last 2 tracks in which I really don't like that much because they feel like fillers. Fav songs is the extended version of Don't stop....Working day and night, and Rock with you Some days I will play them, depends on the day though. Still a great album. I can play Off the wall with my musician friends because we love the funky touch, it makes us want to jam out sometimes 5. Invincible ( The 1st MJ Album on my list in which I actually skip songs. I like this album because of the early 00s hip hop feel, alongside with the beautiful re-intro of rnb songs in which MJ kind of abandoned in the 90s. I play this album at the gym or when Im with my girlfriend. She not a big MJ fan but she loves early 00s music. My take way is the inconsistent up and downs. A good song then a mediocre one. I know MJ was basically tapped out for this album but whatever he had left I still find enjoyable. also his voice was supper scratchy on some songs and not like his late 80s or early 90s rasp, just feels scratchy. Fav songs are whatever happens, butterflies, and rock my world 6. History ( I just wish MJ cut like half of the songs on this album because alot of songs are very skippable. I play the first 4 or 5 songs then skip to childhood and play to the end but sometimes skip History and always skip little susie. I get the album was personal. It was his outlet I respect it. But personally I feel this was a terrible follow up to Dangerous. I'm not talking lyrically but musically some songs feel overdone. faves are smile, scream, 2 bad, and childhood. I won't play this album around friends but I'll play a few tracks though, 7. Blood on the dance floor ( Literally the only songs I listen to are ghosts and Blood on the dance floor. Every else is just blehh. Funny enough the only two songs I listen to are some of my most fav MJ songs. Honorable mention -Dangerous & Bad unreleased tracks are good enough to be complete albums themselves. I would put them over History and BOTDF. Invincible on some days. Don't kill me for my list haha lol
Awesome narration, amazing video clips!. All that was said is true. It's time for something like this, people need to finally understand Michael and respect him for who he was. Micheal never deserved the heartaches he endured.
I think my favorite era may be dangerous..I always get torn between dangerous and bad. That bad tour was amazing, but so was the dangerous tour. I really wish I could have experienced going to one of these concerts. Dangerous was released in 1991. Can't believe its be so long, but it is still so timeless.
First of all; Michael Jackson is a genius, secondly he lived ahead of time, very hard-working human being, so innovative,! Long live the King of Pop!! Thank u for this HD picture!

'Dangerous' hasn't received the recognition it deserves if you compare it to his previous records. I'm glad this channel exists and does 'Dangerous' and many other pieces of Jackon's work justice. Btw, Andrew, your voice is perfect for this script (and this channel in general) and i LOVE IT!
Listening right now...!!! Happy 30th Anniversary Dangerous...the best album from the 90s so far....!!! I still remember the 3 sould out concerts on October 1993 in Buenos Aires!!! (Slash guitar....!!!)🇦🇷🧠👁👑💫💖💜🎶🎵💪👍👏💫🙏

I never see so many people together desperate for just 1 album 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It was the crazier day of my life
I get out of the store at 3:20 pm
But I got my cassette 🥰🥰😍😍😍😍
Still got it
The best entertainer that ever lived!!
It's about time. I always wanted to see his journey on producing Dangerous, but not much on RUclips compared to Thriller or Bad. Not much on Off the Wall either.
There was a documentary on Showtime about Off The Wall.
I am looking forward to this series with great impatience, I enjoy every minute ... It is a pity that Michael is not alive to see how much he was and remains loved.😇
THIS IS GOOD!!!!! The Narration on this! The Script!! Captured it ALL! EVERYTHING! DEAD ON MONEY!! 100%!!
Thank you for this, the detail. This may have been the greatest video you have ever produced on this channel. Whew.
Wow thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
@@thedetail. Why do you continue to remove my comment? Again, I’m happy to partner with you. I only ask that you give credit where it’s due.
Till date no sound or music can beat the sound of dangerous..still super fresh..thanks to mj for changing the course of music forever...
You’re works is much better than his estate I swear I learnt so much interesting thing about the conception of the dangerous album and I hope to see more again.
Thank you so much guys
Invincible had the same tone of musical diversity... So underrated...
History too. His production was more in History
Invincible was so uneven compared to Dangerous. Dangerous at least had fairly consistently great songs despite how bloated the album was.
I agree. These bring back great memories.
The best album that came out in 91 was Nirvana's nevermind.
@@johniebaltimore yeah it was popular, just not as good as his 80s work, i lost interest in his music after that album.
I know how huge rap has started to become in the 90’s, but when it comes to MJ, he was no longer just a US matter, he was a worldwide phenomenon & for many of us it was really the Dangerous era that got us more into him
@@IamVLD777 well Im American so Im talking from an american perspective lol
The Goat forever 🐐🎩
We love you MJ ❤️
I think History had more production. But I agree
F em 😆
such an exciting part of MJ’s career… Black or White C & C Remix is one of my all time fave tracks from the ‘90s
This album has the music most futuristic sound at that time and still can go along with other music today
This is not only an album, this is a work of art.
Couldn’t be more excited. You guys are a godsend to the Moonwalkers community.
Thank you the Detail, for giving us an actual Dangerous 30 like it's deserved we love you! And we love Michael too!
Really a big thanks to this channel to gave us this in full 4k, this is so magic.🌟⭐
Thank you!
This was Michael's true masterpiece.
My second fav Mj album after OTW. The videos, the hits, his world tour etc. Still got The Dangerous short film on dvd / vhs
🥰 same as far a favorites... 😍
Happy 30th anniversary to one of the best albums of all time
I can't wait to watch this I was just watching a 2 hour dangerous concert celebrating the anniversary
Thank you Detail for this documentary! I remember getting this album back in 1991 like it was yesterday! Happy 30th Anniversary Dangerous!
Love this! Can't wait for more episodes. Dangerous is a masterpiece! It's his best album in my opinion.
The detail is doing more jobs for Michael's legacy than the estate ever does . Missed opportunity after missed opportunity like Thriller 35th Anniversary and also Dangerous 30th Anniversary album .
I don't know what the estate are doing. Xscape was 7 years ago and the last anniversary release was Bad 25, 9 years ago. What are they waiting for?
I agree. It could have been edited better
The irony with LL Cool j was he was the was isolated from the world. since Michael was traveling the world constantly and LL was basically stuck in a regional area being only hip-hop
Michael was universal: pop, hip hop, rock, soul, R&B
The allegations really tore up Dangerous and his touring. It could've been so much more, but then the media saw Michael as being literally Dangerous in the wrong way. Still, out of Thriller, Bad and Dangerous, Dangerous wins. It's so diverse, it delves into every musical genre hot at the time. It gives you a taste of the man at truly solo. He didn't need Quincy Jones.
What an absolute Masterpiece, Thank you the detail for this.
I've never heard a jermaine jackson song in my life, and I'm happy by that
you guys are doing the better than the estate
This documentary was amazing. The amount of research and passion for the subject is contagious. Thank you guys
That Dangerous instrumental in the background is to DIE for! It's so beautiful!!
Right? I'm trying to find it somewhere on RUclips but still can't.
Teddy Riley... Sweet genius.
Amazing work. After all that hard work, cutting edge studio production, Dangerous was knocked off the number 1 spot Nirvana. Apparently the day Kurt finished recording the single Teen Spirit he was homeless, living in his car. Then goes on to top MJ. Times were definitely changing
Nirvana was only #1 for a week
@@nunyabiznes6243 It's not about how many at number It's ABOUT GETTING TO NUMBER ONE! It's about a homeless guy who most people labeled a 'loser' knocked a person who people pretty much worship as a God OFF THE NUMBER ONE SPOT. It's a 'Rocky' story, where the underdog defies all odds.
@@IndiesoulMusik relax, it's not that deep lol
The label pushed it to number one so it did🤷 or was Nirvana an indie band?
@@IndiesoulMusik then go to a Nirvana celebration video and comment. This is a video celebrating Michael Jackson's dangerous album, not Nirvana.
@@IndiesoulMusik lol, I'm a musician myself. I love the nevermind album and I think it's a great work of art. However, this is a video celebrating Michael Jackson's work. We don't need your commentary on how it got knocked out of the number one spot by Nirvana.
Michael had the highest talent and artistic vision.
Thank you for this. Michael was a true musical genius far ahead of his time.
This is awesome! Thank you for posting this
This album made me a fan of music. I used to love watching all the videos from the Dangerous album on BET, VH1 and MTV as a kid. Even though hip hop is the genre of music that I do myself, I'll always be a huge M.J fan
Can't believe 'Serious Effect' didn't make it on the album , it's so good.
It's very good but dont match the album actually.
Dangerous final fast tracks sounded some years ahead.
Michael may have been late to the game, but he still was able put out one of the Best New Jack Swing Albums of All Time.
If the album had came out only a year earlier, it would have made a better impact.
Today is the anniversary of his Dangerous album ❤️✨🙏🏽🥺 love you Micheal 🙂✨
MJ Greatest of all time!! His music lives in forever. RIP
OMG this documentary was so damn good.....but I must admit if MJ would have stuck to the original plan and made Dangerous like Off The Wall that would have been dope as hell
One of my favorites from MJ. This album was 🔥🔥🔥
Michael. Genio. Partiu pra. Novas frente. E. Fez um disco maravilhoso. Sem o quince. E uma. Obra. Prima. Mj o. Cara. ❤🎉
I’m so Thankful for Michael Jackson! This is the best thanksgiving gift ever! Thank you @thedetail for dropping this video on thanksgiving
My faves and why
1. I can play Dangerous with some close friends during car drives if I'm feeling edgy
Thriller feels really cliché to play so I actually would only play it if I'm feeling nostalgic or with regular people because everybody knows 2/3's of Thriller even none MJ fans
4. I can play Off the wall with my musician friends because we love the funky touch, it makes us want to jam out sometimes
5. Fav songs are whatever happens, butterflies, and rock my world
6. I won't play this album around friends but I'll play a few tracks though,
Very true!
This is perfection thank you so much!
I think my favorite era may be dangerous..I always get torn between dangerous and bad. That bad tour was amazing, but so was the dangerous tour. I really wish I could have experienced going to one of these concerts. Dangerous was released in 1991. Can't believe its be so long, but it is still so timeless.
I wish people loved History TOur too, despite the lip sync
@@CaptainJadenAR I like that tour too! I think bad would have to be my favorite.
@@brittanyguyton3987, I liked History Tour more. But yes, Bad and Dangerous Tours are at his peak
Michael always knew how to put on an outstanding show. Definitely born to be a performer.
@@brittanyguyton3987, Agreed.
First of all;
Michael Jackson is a genius, secondly he lived ahead of time, very hard-working human being, so innovative,! Long live the King of Pop!! Thank u for this HD picture!
I love all Michaels album, but my fave is Dangerous Album. His vision and creativity was just phenomenal.OMG all the songs are addicting and i couldnot choose which music video/shortfilm will be my fave because i love all of them💕💕💕
This was AMAZING! Please make a documentary about invincible next🙏🏾
History was Michael Jackson's peak. A masterpiece and the most self-produced album.
Oh my God!!! I want more!! This is awesome!
There are still some missing documentaries... Destiny, Triumph, Victory, History , Blood on the dancefloor and Invincible...
The picture almost jumps out off screen! This is beautiful!😮😍
Will always love and respect MJ. His creativity was second to none.
Been waiting for this ! Great first episode !! ❤️
Thank you! 5 more to come ✨
This is so cool.
omg that timeline, i´m out of breath from only watching lol. this is great, thank you!!!
Listening right now...!!! Happy 30th Anniversary Dangerous...the best album from the 90s so far....!!!
I still remember the 3 sould out concerts on October 1993 in Buenos Aires!!!
