Let me know what you'd like to see next, especially if you're a beginner artist. I plan to create more content with watercolor paints, acrylic paints, colored pencils, collage, gel printing... you name it! Time to use all those materials I've been stashing, and have some fun!

I really enjoy your abstract videos using acrylic inks. I'd never used inks with a brush before! These are so simple and enjoyable to create, and may now be my go-to technique for warming up. Great way to just enjoy the process. Well done!

@@kspringer7643 Thank you so much! Acrylic inks really are a delight to use, and can be fun to combine with other wet media too, including watercolors etc. I wish there was more content made about them, but watercolors seem much more popular / well known.

I love this video so much. Your artwork is beautiful. Your conversation and advice is so helpful and inspiring. I’m a complete beginner - one who just bought some supplies, started messing with them and crumpled in dismay and the disaster in front of me. Your video showed up at the exact right moment and I’m so grateful you made it. I’d love to see a video about your progression as you mentioned and will be eagerly watching my feed for you! Oh, and I was also touched by your comment that your art parallels your life. I’ve experienced that in other ways and hearing your observation makes me even more excited to grow and see what new things this can teach me.

Wow, you made my day, and reminded me why I started this grind of building a YT channel in the first place. Thank you so much!! One thing I *try* to remind myself (and my kiddo) is that when we do something new, we shouldn’t expect to be good at it. We’re embarking on a journey of learning a new skill, no different to learning a new sport or playing a musical instrument. Art is no different, but I think it’s easy to forget that. It’s like it’s drilled into us from a young age in school that we’re either good at it (drawing etc) or not. Which I’m learning is rubbish. I was actually decent at drawing when I was young, but it in no way translated to making “good” abstract art. I found this both frustrating and curious when I first started painting again. But it gave me new respect for artists, especially abstract, that it’s so much more involved than I ever realized.
Hang in there and give yourself grace - you wouldn’t judge yourself if you couldn’t play in a grand slam the first time you picked up a tennis racket, right?
My other tip is not to throw out your art, even if you hate it. One day you’ll look at it with fresh eyes and either find something you love about it, or at least really appreciate how far you’ve come in building your skills!

I love Laura Horn too. I struggle with being free with my art…there is a lot that goes in the rubbish. I am trying to embrace those. You have given me such inspiration for the next attempt xx

I can totally relate, and have promised myself to not toss any of my art in the rubbish (even if I think it’s rubbish). That way, at a minimum I can see how far I’ve come some day, and maybe I can even figure out how to rescue some of them, or see them in a different light. What do you think about that idea?

Yeah - love this one as well! So great of a discussion on the white space part! And life and art similarities - oh I can relate. So poignant for what we talk about last summer! Love this 💕. What is the tape you’re using? Love that you’re repurposing from your daughter. I have art masking tape I will try. Can’t wait to do so! More of these videos would be awesome!

My goodness, there are so many art/life similarities I feel when making art & reflecting on it!
The tape I’m using is by Craftzilla. I should put an Amazon link in, if it’s still available (we’ve had it for years).

I’ve just added a link to it in the video description, the same set I bought for my kiddo a few years ago, and am still using up.

Love your videos. I’ve just bought some myself and started to experiment with them. Do you think that they can be blend with anything else than water? I’ll keep watching you and hope to c more of your paintings. Thank you very much and good luck ❤

@@ilanamayerson4068 Thanks so much Ilana! Acrylic inks are considered a water based media, just like watercolors, acrylic paints, etc. So they'll work with any other water based media. I've mixed them with my watercolors before, both on a palette and in the painting, and also with heavier bodied acrylics. They'll also work with a 'resist', similar to watercolors, so you could try drawing with a crayon underneath and paint over them with the inks - the crayons will pop through :)
      Have fun experimenting!
