    Holy fuck, it sounds like he's reading from a book, but I know he can't be because he's driving... Some of the best oratory skills I've ever seen. Virtually no "umm's", or pauses. Honestly, this is as amazing as his lifts in the gym.

It saddens me when I hear of family members passing due to obesity or other related illnesses simply because a change in our diet. I do my best to educate family and friends to eat better, try to stay away from processed foods, try to eat and cook the way our elders did and just be more active.

    Wow, this is the first video on RUclips that brought me to tears. As a Samoan born and raised in American Samoa till I graduated high school and moved to the States, Im listening to you describe what our lives are like on the island and it’s saddens me to realize how far we as Samoans have come from the old black and white photos of maybe fifty years ago and to mass we carry around now. You hit the nail on the head about educating people regarding nutrition. Growing up, the way we were taught to lose weight was just not eat as much or starve yourself. Appreciate your candidness about this issue uso.

    This really is an astounding verbal performance. A clinically articulate, comprehensive, perfectly structured meditation on obesity. It would've been impressive coming from a doctor or a college professor. From a bestially strong human pachyderm, it's mind blowing. I don't think I've ever heard an extempore talk quite like this one. If he weren't driving I'd have assumed he was reading off a teleprompter. I have to admit, the sheer implausibility of it had me laughing out loud.

      Stan is obviously someone who reads a great deal. Or rather, he's accustomed to studying significant quantities of subject matter in his area of interest. He's also used to communicating that subject matter in formal contexts. But that's not enough to explain what he's doing here. He's clearly able to structure material in his head and "read" it out loud like someone reading from a text book. It indicates a highly clinical, regimented mindset...and helps explain his success as a bodybuilder/powerlifter and a businessman.

    • @GrownandHealthy

    Great message and content. Since all of you are commenting on his "reading"/monotone delivery - it is because he is using a wireless ear prompter - I am an actor and have used my ear prompter at trade shows and large presentations.
    You can tell he is repeating what is being said in ear without actually thinking feeling it first. That is why it sounds very monotone, since he is just keeping up with audio script - I have done it, it is hard, and takes a lot of focus.
    Nothing wrong with this it is a good way to ensure you get all of your points made but it is much harder to sound natural than even reading a TelePrompter/script... but it is easier if you know the topic and script well of course. I bet he started using ear promoter with the speaking engagements he does, and now uses them for these videos.
    Hope he doesn't want to keep this a secret, ha.
    He shouldn't, it is still his words and ideas and a good delivery.

      Most bodybuilders in today's world are incredibly intelligent, mostly because they have the good mind of knowing what they're putting into their bodies, and have a vast knowledge of functions of the body.

      I've met plenty of Power Lifters, Bodybuilders and Strongman Competitors who have a PHD or are a Licensed Physical Therapist. Very intelligent, and unlike our sitting US President, no teleprompter needed! Also, you can take all the drugs you want, and if you eat like shit even as much as some of these Pros would lead you to believe they do, you would never get the results they have. I don't care how good your genetics are and how full your medicine cabinet is. Stan is one of those guys who knows his shit, practices what he preaches and preaches what he practices.

    fitness is refreshing and inspired me from the first time i head you.
    I'm so glad you turned out to be buddys with Smelly who I was already a fan of and are more involved with Supertraining than ever. Your a continued inspiritation Rhino!

    I’ve recently just discovered Stan on RUclips and catching up on watching his videos. Especially absorbing a lot of his knowledge and information from his ranting series!
    And now to learn that his wife is Samoan! Cheehoo!
    I’m Samoan from Aotearoa (New Zealand) and although I was already gaining a solid respect for the uso (brother) Stan, my respects for him now is thru the roof! You sir should have a Matai (high chief) title.
    And come to New Zealand to inspire and motivate our kiwi athletes here! 👍🏽 😁

    1. lift weights for 1.5 - 2 hours per week, and be sedentary (rest) for the remainder of the week.
    2. don't eat less, build more muscle.
    done

    • @poohandler8646
      @poohandler8646 8 лет назад

      2 hours per week. What do you think you're possibly gonna get from that.

    • @felixandresjc
      @felixandresjc 8 лет назад

      If each set takes AROUND 10 sec, then 3 sets (x4,x6,x8) = 30 sec of work. If you rest ABOUT 3 min between sets, then that's 9.5 min per lift. if you do 4 lifts per workout, then that's 38 min per day (roughly 40 min). three days a week, that's ABOUT 2 hours per week. Notice the rep range 4,6,8, not 10-12 not 15+. The point is to workout intensely.

    • @felixandresjc
      @felixandresjc 8 лет назад

      BTW, I don't agree with him when he says a calorie is a calorie. I would much rather get my fats from avocados/coconut oil, because they're not going to clog my arteries like the highly processed hydrogenated shortenings they use to fry foods or in junk food. Same goes with carbs, sugar and starches are very energy dense and nutrient deficient, and fruits and vegetables are nutrient and antioxidant dense with a great energy to fiber ratio (you eat less energy from the added fiber).

  • @railander

    Very well spoken, except that he is wrong. Quantity and calories are not the primary cause of obesity, quality and the carbohydrate-insulin relation are, and that is exactly what the industry doesn't want you to know. 1000 calories of sugar is not the same as 1000 calories of vegetables, and that's very obvious, the metabolic response is very different for both cases.

    • @MacLethal
      @MacLethal 6 лет назад +8

      This is painfully inaccurate. Keto propaganda. Caloric deficit causes weight loss, caloric surplus causes weight gain. Sugar or not.

    • @dvdgnz1
      @dvdgnz1 6 лет назад +2

      Insulin can affect hunger but has zero to do with fat loss/gain otherwise. It comes down to CICO. Quit with the misinformation. Efferding is spot on.

    Thank you Stan that was a phenomenal talk. Held my attention throughout because it was filled with common sense. It was encouraging to hear what my thoughts have been over the last few months as I go back to the gym. Move more eat less, be consistent in my exercise, and do the exercises I enjoy doing. Hope one day to shake your hand, and by the way I love the T-shirt. Thanks again. Lance

    Great discussion.
    As someone who has no problem gaining weight, he is absolutely correct. The best “diet” and “excercise program” is the one I will do on a consistent basis. I do however feel my best when I can get to the gym and workout for at least an hour 3-4 times a week. It is really hard to pass up calorie dense foods when you are “starving” after a very intense hour long workout. But the results of consistency over time are very encouraging.
    When I compare myself to the folks who are absolutely jacked at the gym it is easy to get discouraged, but when I look at my exercise log and see the progress in the amount of weight moved in a given workout I am very thankful I have stuck with it and kept going.
    Great video

    Fantastic speaking. It's a rare talent to be both eloquent about a topic and proficient at the practice of the subject matter about which you speak so well. Stereotypically this is especially true in the fitness and health world. Thanks for making this video and you're a testament to your profession.
