Offen we see that police and law agencies use their power in the cases like this. They have no time to get permission of the Court becuase suspect can delete the evidence. Some times, agencies use its power to itself interest and are adopts the personal information as a tool against of culprits to get more information so that cases can be resolve soon and reppercussion could be avoided. There is no any written law on such cases that is helpful for personnel. Seisure of laptop and electronic devices would substantiate to the cases against culprits. The government and the Court with coordination should soon frame the law in similar cases. While both also try to give justice in the absence of any provisions, taking cognizance of the sensivity of matters, not to making excuses so that journalist and victim could not be faced more consequences.

It is an offense only when the space belongs to a private party (an aircraft, shopping mall, cinema hall, a shop, private ship/yacht etc) and the person being recorded objects to the act of recording.
You can record anyone/anything in a public space (road/bus stop/park). There's no law that bars you from doing it. (This excludes government-restricted areas - army compounds, government offices etc)
