Glad to hear the heads can be bought by themselves...I'd love to see what an all-aluminum build with custom block work for the additional lugs would look like with ITBs!

To be fair, every head sucked 50 years ago. Any factory head today is better than a performance head of the past. Many aftermarket "as cast" performance heads are better than ported heads from 20 years ago. GM Performance has sold spread port heads for many many years. Edelbrock also sold them along with raw castings that were machined by boutique shops.

Actually the price is around 30k. They originally advertised them at about 38k but I think someone must have told them you’ll never sell them at that price, so the price was quietly dropped. Not sure you could build this motor to this level for 30k so it’s probably a deal.

Here in Phoenix when outside temperatures can exceed 110 degrees in the summer actual road temperatures can easily be well over 130 degrees. Probably near 150 degrees a couple of feet above the asphalt. Phoenix temperatures are taken at the airport 8 feet off the ground in the shade which can be very misleading in terms of what we as drivers are experiencing. My guess at 12 to 1 even with the aluminum heads that bad boy will "ping' like a bitch under hard acceleration in that kind of heat. Pre ignition loves high temperatures.
I wouldnt even think of not using good fuel with an engine that $$. Spent 1 summer in Tuscon could not deal with that heat esp at night. Phoenix...holy carp even worse! dont know how you all do it. Bad enough here in Ca desert
A supercharged version would be legendary. 1500hp on pump gas.

Great truck engine with the right cam and intake run on e85
If only Clark Griswold knew about this engine for the family truckster!
They look like the MBE 9degree head especially the chamber
totally different than MBE Big 9, which are not symmetrical heads, would be interesting to see what Matt can do with these castings though.
Love the bb
Is this engine streetable as in “daily driver” or is it a 1,500+ rpm-at-idle beast?
I would like to see what kind of power numbers that would make if you plug the injector holes and slap a carb on there.
Just out of curiosity or would you prefer to have a carb??
