The dealer is quoting $600 to do this. Crazy! Glad to see this is a pretty easy fix. Thank you! (Edit -- Just installed them tonight and I am super happy. I'm going to also contact the person in charge of the dealership and tell them about the ripoff quote. Sure, they aren't running a charity and are entitled to make a profit, but $600 is just nuts.)
Let em have it, wish it was in front of all their customers....Cadillac dealer tried to charge my inlaws elderly couple $250 for changing a light bulb. Someday they may realize-fare and trustworthy is the only way to run a business.
Thank you so much for this video! A friend told me it’d be easy, I just realize how easy. Videos like these make owning a car and keeping it maintained so much easier.
You helped save us a lot of time, and probably we would have ruined the new shocks. The instructions that came with the new shocks were the wrong items, totally wrong. We would have never figured out the simple way to change the shocks, probably would have messed up trying. Please know you helped a grandmother get her car back on the road, changed both shocks in less than 10 minutes. Really appreciate you effort to helping folks
I am glad that this video helped you complete the repair. Growing up we always had Haynes repair manuals that did not show that much detail. I am happy that now we can watch videos for free and know exactly what to do.
Changing headlight bulbs to LEDs and BAM! headache and neck ache galore! Thanks for your video. The filming of the retaining clip was outstanding. Peace
When installing the replacements there is no need to do anything with any of the spring clips. Just push them all the way on till you hear them snap in place.
I bought mine for $20 on Amazon and had them installed in 5 minutes do not pay people to do this it is a goddamn scam. Getting the the Clips off it's the only slightly difficult part if you don't have a thin enough tool. I'm sure you guys can find something. You don't need to do anything with the clips to put them back on just pop them on. If I was being an honest businessman, I would say that was about a $20 job at most, and even that is a bit high.
It would be even more helpful if you get close up shots of what you are doing with the screw driver tips on both the new and old strut. Likely need a helper for that. Thanks!
Three items to check. 1) Were the new struts the same size as the old ones? 2) Were the ball connections lubricated? 3) Were the retaining clips snapped back into place one installed? The hood will require a little more effort to close once installed but should not be difficult.

NEVER EVER take any car back to the dealer. There is no other way to pay more for any repair that going to a rip off dealer and they are all the same.
Same here they asked me $780 wtf
Yeah I just got quoted 380 and I was like.....that cant be right and searched how to replace them.

I second this. I wish I had seen this comment before I started
Thank you. It was very informative.
I am ordering mine today. Great video. Any specific grease you would recommend? Dealership wanted to charge me $596. Thanks a lot!!!
My new struts just pushed on and locked. There was no need for using screwdriver on the clips when attaching the new ones.

Fixed in 5 minutes. Thank you!!
Ty!!
I did all of this and hood got stuck in the upward position and would not allow me to budge the hood

Were the struts installed upside down? that would stop it from closing also.
Easiest fix ever C$50 + 10 minutes v. $400 dealer quote. Thanks!
