This has been one great journey - 850j changes, the tile plow build, laser chaser development, tile laying, Hyundai 210 and the team who spent many hours in it. Congratulations and will be good to hear the pros, cons and changes to be made with lessons learned.

WHERE IS THE SHORiNG !!!!!! Collapses happen even in the best of conditions without any warning. You guys made me very nervous in this video! I would hate to see a remembrance video of someone crushed in a trench. At least bench it back some , even if it takes a little bit longer it only takes one time.

The 2d system really comes into it's own when you are using a swale bucket and doing roadside ditches or doing foundation work for buildings. That 850J is a real tile plow monster! Really glad you managed to get some footage of the paddle wheel going up the river! That other Matt is a work monster also! Is he the field owner ? Also nice to see Jerry on the 210 and enjoying it.

100k feet of pipe is one hefty supply bill. The supplier should have bought you a meal or two in thanks for the money they made off of that purchase order. The plow definitely paid for itself a few times over for ya.

In 2020, the American Duchess had it's paddle wheel removed because of a mechanical failure in the shaft. It continued to operate without the paddle wheel till it was repaired.
The paddle wheel is actually about 40% of the forward thrust, with much more 'modern' Z-drives assisting.

Fun suggestion: as much attention as that fire extinguisher bracket catches, you should find a green thermos and put a Dirt Perfect label on it. That would be a killer promo shot.
What an exciting operation with the tile plow, and that 210 seems to be a great fit for your operation. Anxious to it in some large tree clearing and heavy digging work.

I can see as time goes by Mike being able to precisely operate this new excavator alone… without any help.
Unfortunately, Mike does a lot of jobs alone like many in the industry. I don’t like it since it is an unsafe condition mainly.
Yes… we all have cell phones these days but cell phones don’t always have service and they can’t put a tourniquet on an unconscious man.
BTW… The 850J has proven to be a great addition to Mike’s stable of equipment.
Once the early bugs were worked out the J just keeps on pulling hard. I’ve lost count on how many miles of pipe it has laid and laid it in some horrible conditions.
I get the same feeling of reliability and worth when I see Mike operating the Hyundai excavator.

The 210 is the deal, to see Jerry in it, well, it’s pretty well a done deal for Dirt Perfect sir. It’s been a bit of a struggle to get everything to come together on plowing tile in, especially the first year, with the design and build of the plow, the learning curve, the rework of tracks on the J, the laser tracker design, build, set up and function, then dropping the 210 in the mix with the 2D guidance system, man that’s a lot, and you and your crew handled it well. And next year you will have the experience, equipment in place, that should give you a really good start. I am most happy for you all and thanks for the ride along sir.

It will be interesting to see how you water proof the lazer chaser.
You deserve to have a new piece of equipment that is my logical mind but I could not afford to buy a tooth on the bucket but future jobs could justify the purchase.
I am sure that the Hyundai will have some issues but again i would hope that you and Hyundai working together would be able to solve the issues to both of your benefit. Hyundai has shown that their engineering and other departments want the best machine one the market and understand what continued customer service means long after the purchase of the machine.
I hope the keys to the machine will be a great stocking stuffer.
    Stay safe

you should ask Hyundai for a dozing Shield for the 210 like the 140 has , imagine putting a 6 way blade from a D4 sized dozer onto it, then put in a electric pilot valve block and a extra joystick for bklade controls into it
also you should get some dredging matts and a ghigh volume grading bucket

  • @chrislaarman7532

DP, it's great to see you this happy with the Hyundai. :-)
I wonder how it performs with the laser guidance in conjunction with add-ons like a grading bucket, the super-stick, and maybe something for pile-driving (pole-driving? I mean: like fixing that little jetty on the riverside, maybe a year ago.)
But the guidance might also be useful in placing poles for utility lines. I could then also think of an "aerial work platform" (if available for quick-coupler) for doing any type of "off-the-ground" work (maybe with stability measures, maybe with some remote-control). After all, you have a background in construction, so you may have a "Wait a minute!" feeling rising. Or Logger Wade may have suggestions.
I'm under the impression that this Hyundai can store several "patches" (of settings). I suggest that you figure out some patches for "power" (hydraulic pump power demand, meaning economy) and "accuracy" (hydraulic valve opening), especially if you should consider to have this 210 replace the Volvo 140. You wouldn't want to burn more fuel on "140-jobs", would you?
Economy: I heard Mr. Millennial and LetsDig18 complain about fuel at around $5.50/gallon. Here in the Netherlands, it would cost just over €2.00/l, meaning over $7,50/gallon (taxes included).

It would be interesting to know how you feel after a few hours using the Hyundai, is it as tiring as the Volvo, it certainly sounds that it's smoother to use, like you say with a flat edge bucket laying pipes will be easier. I still can't get over the lazer set up on the dozer, with the plough. It must be from your prospective really re assuring, as you know your at the right level all the time. It's going to be interesting to hear your thoughts on both.

Im commenting 1/4 way In to video. So, there is a wet low spot in this pasture? Here in North Georgia, low pasture land we install slit hancor pipe and use 4 inches of washed 57 gravel on bottom and 4 inches on top. Then cover gravel with fiber cloth to keep silt out of washed gravel. So, sometimes we use the gravel only where we went to pick up the water and may skip it on the pipe part that simply carries the water to the creek. Maybe I’m asking too early before I see the end of the video lol. That soil doesn’t look too different than here. Oh wait: at 12:20 I see you nah be t”ing in to an existing drainage pipe. Ok. Now I see the dozer with plow.

Great job, but do I see an OSHA violation there. Matt down approx. 3' over his head with all the equipment operating in the area. Be careful out there.

Jerry hit the nail on the head, you have come a long way Mike !!!
Plough has proved itself an invaluable purpose built tool in your arsenal complemented by the 850J to pull it along !!!
You all had the job off to a fine art, next season you can all capitalise on what you have done this season. 💪💪💪

Question Mike, couldn't you run a 6" line back from the campground side, to the 8" line where it ended? Even though the surface slopes away, underground would slope back to the center connection. Looking like you already got the check ready for the new machine.
