Proper grammar is "would it not HAVE been" I'm sorry but this is the visual equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. Teachers stopped doing their jobs in the 90s? I'm assuming your age I know. But the contraction "would've" cannot be worked out as "would of" think about what that means. Would of? No. Nails on a chalkboard. "Would't've" is my gift to the world. "Would-it have" would't've! The rare and exotic triple contraction!😝
@@astang1072 you cannot get any modern voice dictation to actually write out the words "would of" one after the other because; and I'm assuming here, it's the first thing the voice recognition geniuses on Microsoft Windows 2K made sure of when they embarked on this journey. Keep it up (at your rate of course would hate for you to overwork yourself) and i'll definitely stick around for anything you come up with. Excuse the long message, I really loved this project in particular so the timing felt right.
Great billet of mokume gane and pendant Alec! Your power tools are making me drool. You seem to have studied non-ferrous metals and stone setting, but you haven't followed some processes I learned and I would love to know why. MAKING the mokume gane: I learned to fuse the billet in one heating and to apply pressure while doing so. You can see the fuse point and remove the heat right away. HOT forging: I have never seen hot forging for non-ferrous metals. These are softer when quenched as soon as the red dulls. The molecules stay misaligned for a longer period of time. Don't know if the electric forging machine would make the metal too hard right away. I would usually make a billet and after quenching, forge till 1/3 to 1/2 the thickness annealing along the way, then run the billet thru a rolling mill to reduce the thickness annealing when the metal gets too hard. So have you tried doing the process the goldsmith way of doing things and chosen to switch to the steel way deliberately? I could have done better writing this but it is late. Jo in Philadelphia PA
Hey, Alec Your art, skill, and enthusiasm consistently knock me out! Forgive my ignorance I have never set stones in any medium- I get that you prepared the material to receive the stones but by what mechanism are they fixed in place? Is it a friction fit or did I miss a step along the way? Thank you for sharing this with us- just exquisite!
New series name.. "How Alec became a jeweler" Also great work on the settings and pendant. When I make my designs I try to plan the way I attach the chain so it works into the piece design. Like that one I would drill the hole through the side rather then the front so I wouldn't need a jump ring to attach a chain to and disrupt the look of the piece.

"now I haven't introduced you to this yet..." - Alec introducing his disc sander for the second time and showing it for the third time 😄 (I know there is time bubble and all that stuff)
Just a quick tip regarding soldering the jumpring.. try heating the ring evenly instead of the solder itself. Also know that the solder will run toward the hotter parts of the ring, so if you put the solder on the opposite side to where your torch is, it should run into the gap nicely. otherwise, keep practicing and you'll get better and better :)
He freehands the stone triangle. Mathematical mind is cringing but trusting his skill. Comes out and isn't in line with the main triangle... Mathematical mind starts crying.
An idea for a mokume gane project: a super luxurious poker chip set, with perhaps a precious metal disk inlay and stone setting. If you can make it a large enough set, I am sure you will find a happy customer for it too... (speaking of disk setting: I'd love to see you try some of that: setting small plates or disks of metal into other metal or into wood. It seems like a silly glue job on first thought, but know that true craftsmen used to be able to do this without a single drop of glue... (and glueing doesn't give such a swell result anyway) Another path to explore and push your boundaries)
I love Fine metal working!!! I'm so glad you started doing a lot more of it!!! I work a ton in copper and NewGold which is a brass copper mixture with the shininess of gold without the crazy pricetag! You should try some of it sometime!!! Love your work dude keep it up

- For pendants I recommend having triangles point down and not up, at least if it's intended for women. That way the shape lines up beautifully with the collarbones and the breasts. Also, that way there are no pointy bits poking into sensitive places, which especially women with larger breast sizes will appreciate!

You can then hold it with your hands for control without getting close to the blade. Finished plywood is perfect for that because it's flat enough and smooth enough.
Just asking but would it not of been better to drill the hole in the side
Would it not sit better on the neck that way
Thank you Stephen
Proper grammar is "would it not HAVE been" I'm sorry but this is the visual equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. Teachers stopped doing their jobs in the 90s? I'm assuming your age I know. But the contraction "would've" cannot be worked out as "would of" think about what that means. Would of? No. Nails on a chalkboard.
"Would't've" is my gift to the world. "Would-it have" would't've! The rare and exotic triple contraction!😝
No because he added the silver ring.
@Eric French, maybe he was voice dictating the text and just didn’t see where his virtual assistant heard him wrong.
@@Finn-McCool You're joking right ? I mean you're not actually upset about Grammar (that isn't even bad by RUclips standards)
@@astang1072 you cannot get any modern voice dictation to actually write out the words "would of" one after the other because; and I'm assuming here, it's the first thing the voice recognition geniuses on Microsoft Windows 2K made sure of when they embarked on this journey. Kind of like trying to get voice recognition to write out "better then", you'll get "better thin" before you ever see "better then" without a comma of course. As in "I was feeling better, then I got worse" or "I feel better thin" never "his grammar is better *then* his" because it will ALWAYS suggest the word THAN after the word BETTER! 😜
Guys come on, I'm not bitter.
You know how to console a grammar Nazi?

for anyone wondering, CZ mean cubic zerconia, it is a man made diamond.
Can you make a Magic Wand in damascus?

Please tell me you meant to refer to the British Prime Minister Theresa May.

Hey man i just wanted to let you know ive been feeling extremely unmotivated lately in my graphic art, and sort of abandoned it for a while. After watching your videos I realised I really miss working with metal and wood. Youve inspired me to make a new knife and given me hundreds of ideas for next projects. Im nowhere near as skilled as you are but i can't thank you enough for unknowingly helping me (and many others i think) get their motivation back. So thank you for all the hard work you put out here. It really helps not only practcally but mentally aswell. I guess all I can really say is thank you, even though I feel like thats not nearly enough to show my genuine gratitude. Keep it up (at your rate of course would hate for you to overwork yourself) and i'll definitely stick around for anything you come up with. Excuse the long message, I really loved this project in particular so the timing felt right.
Jesus this is way longer thank expected. In conclusion: i look up to you
Tell us a little background on the your helper. And how you collaborated
Watch the pirates cutlass videos to see Alec and Wills first collab
That music while you were grinding the triangle.. good god, that was fantastic. Incredible music. And the editing was beautiful as well.
Literally thought to myself "damn I'm bored" and poof you appeared. My hero ;)
Jo in Philadelphia PA
you should try making birch mokume
Hey, Alec
Your art, skill, and enthusiasm consistently knock me out!
Forgive my ignorance I have never set stones in any medium- I get that you prepared the material to receive the stones but by what mechanism are they fixed in place? Is it a friction fit or did I miss a step along the way?
Thank you for sharing this with us- just exquisite!
Dude. Get yourself a rolling mill for jobs like this. It’s a much better way to thin out material to a uniform thickness.
New series name.. "How Alec became a jeweler"
Also great work on the settings and pendant. When I make my designs I try to plan the way I attach the chain so it works into the piece design. Like that one I would drill the hole through the side rather then the front so I wouldn't need a jump ring to attach a chain to and disrupt the look of the piece.
Nickel is shiny death, if I touch it for more than 5 minutes I break out in hives. It’s in everything 🙄
Mjölnir Odinson
Yeah, i used to have earrings with a small amt of nickel in them, and they would make my ears get all crusty and infected, it was awful 😬
Will never use them again, even though they were so cute
And your the one that thinks diamonds are special, they are'nt you are
tell that to the chick who blew that d and almst died by swallow, wow chicks be dumb
Oh what i would i give to be your fulltime welder. The projects you undertake are ALWAYS interesting. And ive always wanted to learn and become a blacksmith. Love your videos. Please keep it up.
So first Alec has a girl helping with his instagram stories, and now he's making all of this jewelry...
I think you're onto something!
When did that with the girl come out?

And there was a quick shot in this video of someone wearing the necklace!
I like the calm background music in this one.
Love this Damascus piece.
Triangle, all seeing eye, illuminati. It all making sense.

I haven't seen him using a compass or set square, But definitely a straight edge.
You and Will are so artistic ,everything doesn't have to be perfect and you don't have to go by the numbers every time ,half of the time the flaws are what makes something beautiful

Was I the only one who thought coffee etch when you said there wasn't enough contrast?
Amazing work. Gorgeous result. Keep up the outstanding work Alec. Love your channel.
I was like : Coffee etch time
"now I haven't introduced you to this yet..." - Alec introducing his disc sander for the second time and showing it for the third time 😄
(I know there is time bubble and all that stuff)
All depends on how and what order things are filmed and edited. This may have been filmed prior to the tour and the tour was just super easy to edit.
@@koloth5139 that's what I call time bubble
Best production (cuts and music especially) since I started watching this. More of these types of beats!
A damascus or mokume gane fountain pen would be cool.
Damascus looks like pewdiepie's design
wow that music is amazing, it would be right at home in Ghost in the Shell. Definitely a worthy soundtrack for making such a cool pendant
That pattern looks like PewdiePie's merch stuff!
I love the non-blade projects that you create, I definitely prefer them.
I showed this video to my wife. The first thing out of her mouth? "His glasses are dirty!!"

Damascus everything guys!!!!! This is the Damascus and stone setting channel.

That off-tune jingle at the beginning (3:12) almost made me puke. (It literally made me unwell)
When you have a tilted triangle cut into another triangle, you can swirl the tips of the smaller triangle to look like a whirlpool effect, as if you planned it that way from the start.
WHY THE HELL did you not drill the hole for the chain/wire in the sides of the pendant?
I respekt Alec for always trying new things. He doesn’t limit himself to the things that he is confident doing and isn’t afraid of failure. He’s learnt that failure is part of the process, it’s part of learning how things are done and how not to. Many people don’t realize that. I tip my hat towards you Alec.
I don't think I've ever been this early. 😂😂
Watching the stone setting under the scope reminds me of watching neuro surgeries as a surgical tech. Same blue drapes and everything!😄
