- Game of Thrones panel at San Diego Comic Con 2012
Part 1: • (1 of 3) Game of Thron...
Part 2: • (2 of 3) Game of Thron...
Part 3: • (3 of 3) Game of Thron...
Sorry about all the background noise/chatter coming from the security personnel.
Richard: We have a great time in our tent...
Michelle: Naked
Richard: Shhh
I like 2011 and 2013 less background noise.. needed one more male caste to round things up as more strong female lead than male.
just because she doesnt laugh or smile doesnt mean she hates Daenerys or Emilia maybe it's just a coincidence you cant be in a panel throughtout the whole thing with a smile and laugh etched on your face.
Theres always one guy who asks a question which isnt really a question
What you saw as him "hammering on" is pretty typical for GRRM whenever he talks about anything. He's verbose and occasionally long-winded, just like his books are. In 1-on-1 interviews he takes several minutes to respond to the simplest questions. That said, I got the impression here that he was trying to make a joke out of it to approach the subject matter in a light-hearted way so as not to make people uncomfortable.
"No, fully clothed, he is my son." Wouldn't stop George R.R Martin :D
hm..2011 was better than this. but as long as Emilia keeps coming back. and i hope she will
I would love to go on a date with Ygritte, she's soooooooo funny. Tyrion & Bronn would be my drinking buddies too
The turtle story by Martin is fascinating ..that he had them in a toy castle and made medieval stories about them.
I'm pretty sure the reason a lot of the other characters aren't there is because they are currently filming. So only people who had their schedules free could come. And everyone needs to lay off GRRM. Yeah hes awkward and weird but hes the author of the books. His inside detail to what he thinks is way more interesting. I would have asked him the questions more than the actors. Even though I loovee the actors.
I agree with you. The sex vs. violence issue can be pretty lopsided (I'm still flabbergasted by the reaction to Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction" when I bother to think about it)... but I think GRRM needs to be more sensitive as to when enough is enough. His opening joke about the thirteen year-old "boobie checker" was funny, as was the lighthearted heckling of Rob's sex scenes, but it all got to be a bit much after that. I understand his point--and I agree--but he overdoes it at times.
It has something to do with an issue in today's entertainment that he is trying to bring forth I think. Martin has mentioned in a couple of interviews how astonishing he finds the fact that people are so repulsed and hesitant toward all the sex scenes while the extremely violent scenes seem to get no negative attention at all. And it's the same in all television. "How is sex less natural than death?" sorta thing.
For starters, he could've dialed back on the fixation with nudity and sex. Not because it's "immoral," but because pretty much everyone on the panel looks and sounds really uncomfortable with that line of question. They wanted to talk about the show, the plot, the behind-the-scenes... but GRRM just kept hammering on about the sex/nudity. We get it, Mr Martin, please move on.
oh i was saying that the actors seem to share great chemistry onscreen, bordering on sexual chemistry, which can get quite icky considering they are mother and son. especially in the tent scene in season 1 where Cat meets up with Robb on the battlefield. i dont know, maybe its just me. (I am the person you replied to, from a different account)
I don't know what you're getting at, but they seem to have a perfectly normal relationship for two actors working in closely linked roles :P I mean, even if they did have a relationship, there'd be nothing wrong with it, seeing as they're actors, and not actually son and daughter!
I actually asked a question at the panel and had to change my question 2 times because they screen them and didn't think the questions I had were good. So I didn't really get to ask what I wanted. Sucks.
Michelle and Richard have sizzling chemistry totally inappropriate considering their relationship.
yes lol you're the only person i've seen who has noticed how much chemistry the two of them have as well
already been renewed for another two seasons.
I wouldnt be surprised if it kept going for awhile, they had like a 45% increase in viewership from season 1 to season 2
You know nothing.....Tingles......
I love that George plays with the main criticism of the show the whole time.
Thanks for putting these up.
I feel bad for Alfie. There are almost no questions for him. I mean, I think Theon is quite a prick, but it's not Alfie's fault lol.
Lord of Bones costume is pretty awesome. But if I had to choose which costume I would wear, it would be the Nights Watch cloak.
It seems Mr. Martin's not at ease with his MC job in the video. Too many silences, he seems lost and that's kind of boring.
Thank you for uploading this!! Would have loved to be there, but unfortunately it's too far from The Netherlands! So thank you uploader! :)
YOU KNOW NOTHIN hahha I love Ygritte
If I had to choose a sidgel, it would be a leopard (a crowned Leopard to be exact)... its my family crest :)
If i will have my own sigil it will be a two headed black Phoenix breathing fire on both sides...whahahhaha
Michelle and Richard are like the two in high school that are “ you can’t sit with us .”
He asks her to tell him that "he know nothing", just like she says to Jon Snow in the show.
From someone who has been to a Comic-Con, there are much creepier people than that guy.
Pretty much in love with Leslie clark. The you know nothing line sealed it
the audience questions were mostly brilliant, i'm pleasantly surprised
To be honest Jason Momoa just on his own would have been way more entertaining.
how can Ygritte not say that her favorite part was snuggling up with Jon Snow.
GRRM was really pissing me off this comic con. At least he writes good books.
Michelles voice is amaaaazing. Such character!
Richard not reading further ahead... YOU know nothing, Richard Madden.
Sorry George RR Martin, but I thought it was questions from the fan, and not you?
Richard is just flawless, little peace of perfection.
Rose Leslie of Clan Leslie, actually has a sigil, it's a griffin.
I too was curious about the turtle insignia on George's hat lol
I love how she says "son"
What was the 'treat' at the end? A teaser for Season 3?
apparently he broke his ankle or something like that :/
And Rose, if you could tell me that i know nothing xD
"Thank you very much. Now you made me shy."
the guy 4:00 what does he say about Rose?
aaw Richard is so cute when he gets all shy =)
well robb, don't you have a surprise in store
This panel needs Peter Dinklage.
Glad somebody asked him about the turtle :)
0:35 They're my favourite!! I love them.
alfie allen is so jokes, i love him.
Very good questions from the fans.
George always giggles when he talks to Emilia; it's adorable.
2011 panel was better .... =/
Where is Kit Harington? :(
Rose Leslie actually...
Rose Leslie, I love her
thank u very much, muito obrigado
Richard is perfection
This was not god like 2011 etc I seen on RUclips so far. Only this angle who took this & no close up
for a sec thought Richard's was going to go up on big screen, but they didn't. Sucks.
Only one on 2011 was bad move, but they had normal not side angle all the time, or direct and to big screen etc and fans questions. This sucks ! The bad Lanisters took my lion as I'm a ♌, but I want a dragon & be like Danny.
I DEMAND JOFFREY aka JACK GLEESON to be in COMIC CON and to be in more interviews :-D I frkng love that guy. Absolutely FANTASTIC acting. Even though I despise his character a LOT but god damn that guy can frkng ACT and I m sorry but he is one of THE most talented young actors I hve ever seen ON TV AND FILMS. I also DEMAND AN EMMY NOMINATION FOR JACK GLEESON NEXT YEAR I was very disappointed he didn't get nominated but very happy for Patrick :-)
Now that i've seen the panel, yeah i'll admit not as good as last year more of the cast, David and Dan where to help take some of the slack off. This year it fell all on George to hold people's attention, i think he did the best he could with what he had, it's not easy, i certainly couldn't keep people's attention for an hour. But it did get good towards the end, some of the questions were good and yes some of George's jokes were good, but he's not a stand up comedian so i wasn't expecting him
I think he was a Christian, rather. I think it would be difficult to find an overarching good vs. evil element in these novels--R'hllor does not really seem to be miore "good" than the Great Other, simply on the side of humans instead of the Others. But of course there are personal struggles with morality in a world that is quite violent and savage that the characters have to overcome.
I liked the audience questions better than George's moderation. I think he was making (or referring to) inside jokes. That is why the audience seemed unresponsive at times. They didn't "get" the joke/pun/aside/reference.
Yeaa she is brilliant I agree :-) but it sucks a lot that Jack Gleeson is taking time off from acting till he graduates from Univ BUT I am also really happy for him :-) many actors don't really study after the whole fame thing but I m glad to see that there are few actors who are still doing things which us normal people do :-) go to Univ and etc.
Apparently the 'treat' was a very brief trailer of Season 3, in which it was revealed that it will premiere on March 31st 2013. Very little in the way of actual footage was shown, or so I understand.
to crack me up everytime. As for Alfie, he's probably tired from jetting around the world doing cons he was here in Australia a few weeks ago for Supanova i got two photos with him and a autograph. It was as livened up as the Walking Dead panel, but i was decent and i am looking forward to season three.
[SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT]
i agree. I am NOT waiting for that, I almost dont want next season to come just like I didnt want to read that chapter. I'll miss Richard too. He's a great actor and the perfect Robb. Glad he came to the panel, probably his last. sob.
titles of the cast left to right 1. Khaleesi, Queen Across the Narrow Sea, Mother of Dragons and rightful heir to the Iron Throne 2. Kissed by Fire 3. Lady Stoneheart 4. Heir to Winterfell and King in the North 5. none title 6. Cowerdly Bastard and rightful heir to the Iron ilands
A great, meaningful question would be "How do you think they'll handle the logistics of main cast members disappearing for 1500 manuscript pages (Like 1 1/2 seasons) not "Is your show supposed to a moral sword of light in the darkness?" I thought the questions were terrible.
Richard says he likes to read the books to get a good idea of his character, but the funny thing is, Robb isn't really in the books a lot of the time. Most of the time you read about what he's done through other characters when they learn about it.
I wish people would ask questions that they actually WANT to know the answer to, not something that they think sounds like a "good interviewer question." "How do you feel about the moral ambiguity of your character?" WHO CARES!
aawwwiee RICHARD
I think the public could've more responsive. I'm sure there were pretty funny answers that stayed unnoticed/ignored by the audience. Why they did not invite someone from kid actors, Jeffrey's appearance would be my choice
I hope that, even though their characters may be killed off, the actors will be invited back to future Comic-Cons. Actors return to conventions years after their show is done/off the air, as long as there is interest.
Do you think they'd actually adapt AFFC and ADWD into separate seasons? They obviously won't, since they happen concurrently and splitting them up would make no sense for television.
Indeed.
Needless to say you're probably right, the Comic-Con panel is the wrong place to try to start something on the subject. [sorry for double post but couldn't get it all in one]
Don't understand why everyones seems to think its ok that complain about everything GRRM does. I think he did it well, dont really see how he could have done it better.
Hah, if the books don't make him look like a dirty old man I hardly think a few jokes about HBO's tendency for sexposition will make him look any worse. :)
George is absolutely awful as a moderator. Every question he asks falls totally flat. Stop with the sex questions, please. It is so tedious.
@michaelbhs05yb And Richard did a good job. (sorry for the multiple comments--it's a bit difficult to ignore the Send button on the iPad)
What was that treat we didn't get to seee??? what was it??? omg... it just cut right there.. so sad... sad panda is sad panda..
Kinda disappointing considering they were given the room upgrade this year. But good stuff nonetheless. Michelle, Emilia, amd
Yeah, totally. It's like he's deliberately sabotaging the event with his shitty moderation. In 2011, he moderated just fine.
Arsenal is a football/soccer team in east London if u didn't know, and that Star Trek guy wrecked the whole thing for me
The season 3 new cast members was the brief treat that was cut out. It can be seen on the HBO Game of Thrones website.
Great, meaningful questions rather than the standard, "why do you think people love Game of Thrones/your character?"
Does Alfie say his sigil would be an Arsenal badge at 4:28? I thought his family were diehard Fulham supporters?
what did richard say when this blond girl asked him what was his favorite place to film? something about shot?
people always tend to think these actors are their characters when asking these questions, i find this irksome
That was a racist comment, Muslims arnt racist on everyone, its just the minority of the fundamentalists
The guy at 6:30 Is really creepy. How did he get to ask a question, At Least Emilia handled it well.
I'm a loser says the guy whose watching the same GoT comicon panel, way to be a hypocrite.
i do not know but I thought they screened the fucking crazies out of the q & a, goddamn.
Well, if it was about the sex scenes the American Tolkien pretty much covered that...
Reminds me of the whole behind the scenes Brady Bunch scandal back in the day, lol.
A short intro to the new characters. Search for Game of Thrones Season 3 characters.
lol when michelle said "he is my son!" sounds like what she always say in the movie.
