Love seeing how the house is coming along and all the things your discovering that has happened in the life of the house and the bad repairs that you now have to fix but when it's finished you'll have the pleasure of knowing you gave your home a new lease of life rather than it being demolished by a contractor and a modern house built in its place

Bit by bit you two are solving problems that will add up to a solid house and a lovely home. Sometimes a temporary fix is the best you can do!

Guys go back on the roof and replace the flashing for the chimney. all the flashing was not there. Without the flashing around the chimney, you will have water leaking thru the ceiling and between walls. Also, the 2 boards that buckled where you removed the bricks from under in the cellar? You will need to pop one of them up if not both and clean all the crap out of that space between the 2 boards in order for them to relax back down over time. There is a lot of dirt accumulation in the crack.
If you cannot get to the window with the big gap financially wise this winter put plastic over the window then put a sheet of plywood over it for the winter. Cheap fix but warmth in that room. Also to help warm it up in the whole house till you can get new windows put plastic over all the windows. I have lived in houses over 350 years old and the plastic did wonders! The one i am renting now is over 100 years old and i have the original windows so i put plastic over them during the cold months.

I feel your pain on the moldy wet siding. Our old house the kit hen was an addition at some point in its history. The house itself set on a low foundation right on the ground. So when they did the kitchen addition, they slapped down another foundation that sat right on the ground and the eve of the roof poured water right into the corner along with massive amounts of oak leaves so the house always ha a problem in that corner with the bottom siding panel being moldy. We eventually snapped it down by 6"and sloped it down towards the side of the house so water would drain away. We also had to replace that section of the siding. Which was not easy to match. We did the best we could with what we could find at our local hardware store. This is before we had a Home Depot in our area. The joys of living in a small town community. Ironically the closet in the first bedroom didn't have a foundation. It hung off the side of the house. It was just a little 3x3 square so it wasn't that big. We didn't know it was just attached to the house until after our dog, who was a puppy at the time decided to did a hole right there that's when we discovered that it it didn't have a foundation under it. Speaking of dogs, Cannell's little Fiesta we so cute. That's the sign of a happy dog 😂 maybe she needs her own channel, Cannel the circus corgi 😜 with lots of circus corgi butt wiggles 😂😂

Thank you! I have a 100 y/o house with original floors (I think) and I know they need redone, last person to do the floors didn't fix them just added a layer of something that is now flaking off. But one of the bits of damage is a large bulge, I couldn't figure out what caused it (thought it might be water damage). It might be sitting on a brick wall, the wall pops away from the foundation for bay windows. I just put a coffee table over it so that the cats can look out the windows. Hopefully whoever I find to redo my floors can fix it without removing the foundation.
