@@tomaspofilms Depends on your budget, I built my kits around a wide, a standard and a short portrait. I try not to buy the expensive Summilux but stick to Summicrons and elmarits. Leica R 50mm Summicron was my first. Takumar: 28/3.5, 50/1.4, 85/1.8 Leica R: 28/2.8, 50/2, 90/2 Contax: 28/2, 50/1.4, 85/1.4 Pentax K/M: 15/3.5, 28/2, 50/1.4, 85/2 Plus an assortment of Tomioka, Rollei and Jenna's.
@@tomaspofilms I had no problem colour matching with the Contax set, while it took a number of attempts on the Leicas. The only difference I noticed between the 2 was the Tak is slightly on the warmer side while the Contax is cooler and very very marginally sharper. I shoot video usually between 2.8 - 5.6.
There are 2 reasons why I don’t own a copy of this lens. 1. The price. 2. I don’t do portrait photography. I often wonder if folk see a review of a fantastic lens and want to buy one without first examining what they’d use it for. I already own the Vivitar Series 1 VMC 90mm f2.5 with macro adapter which is a hefty beast but I don’t use it for portraiture. As I’ve said before, looking forward to seeing more videos from you. May I suggest a review of the Rollei Planar 50/1.8 in future? I own both the HFT and SL versions and the colours are ravishing. Thanks for this review. :o)
For my use it would be for wide field astrophotography with a dedicated CMOS cooled camera. The distortion looks good but I wonder how it would perform as you view to the edge of field and minimize chromatic abberation. I have a Rokinon 85mm F/1.4 which performs awful, as you move further away from center of field star shapes become seagulls, even well stopped down. I am hoping the 85mm Takumar may be a satisfactory candidate.
good video bro good luck in your new channel keep going i use the Konica Hexanon AR 85mm 1.8 pretty similar generation i wish we could compare both lenses
It's good to know that the CA is kept to a minimum. I have a Takumar 300mm f4 and the CA on that particular lens is atrocious. Extreme colour fringing and so much of it. Often, you don't even need to zoom into the picture that much to see it. And I haven't been very successful in getting rid of all of it with software. I think I'll sell that lens.
@@tomaspofilms I finally got this lens for my birthday from my parents, I'm so happy. They bought me the 6th element ver. The red and blue are amazing.
it's not worth that much to me, colors are weird, no af means it has to be either cheap or bring a lot of character in order to be worth that much... thanks for the review, more shots next time! :)
Thanks Tomas another great review. I have this lens, I bought it recently, it's really nice.
Great video Tomas - Thanks!
why is this dude not monetized? i subbed
One of my favourite lenses. Love my Takumars and Leica's.
Which Leica lens would you recomend to try out first? I have never had a chance to try one.

@@damiendehorn6350 Looks like a nice set of lenses you have. I hope to get Contax 85 1.4 so I could compare it to the Takumar 85.

Nice review.
I feel like 80/85 is a quite underrated focal length and sometimes I miss my Biometar, but that guy was too unwieldy 😅
Tak is a great lens

Thanks. If I will get a chance to put my hands on Hexagon, I will make a comparison of them two.

wow the CA on both lenses is pretty bad. I guess this is a real challenge for most lens manufacturers. I'm pretty shocked that Nikon was that bad
