I love that you've detailed the slight coloring differences from specific versions. I enjoy the bits that are deeper than a simple google search and you certainly provide lots of those bits! Thank you for your inspiration!

Thanks for the vid! I had to pause often to really see the differences in the lens' rendering. I wasn't always certain which I was looking at. Would you consider the SMC 85mm f1.8 over the Auto-T 85mm f1.8 if you had to choose? I believe both have the same number of aperture blades. For this reason, I would not choose the 85mm f1.9 as to my knowledge it has only 6 aperture blades. Thanks again!

Thanks for your comment. Auto is older than Super-Multi-Coated and SMC is even younger. I always look for an older generation where "film look for analog" looks stronger in our digital cameras' bodies. Pentax almost looks digital (sharp and good color rendering). In this context, if I go for a younger generation, pictures will look even more "digital", and glass imperfections will be removed away. But this is a matter of personal preferences. Some can accept that lens blurriness and pale colors, while others don't. In my case, I don't own any SMC because is too perfect (and new). The Super-Multi-Coated generation it's my bottom line, and just like the Meyer, I won't buy Pentacon (watch it at ORESTOGOR 100mm f/2.8. to know why).

    Is the AUTO-Takumar 85mm f/1.8 also radioactive?
Love your work, keep it up. Thanks

It's not listed as a radioactive lens. I think it's time for me to buy a geiger counter but, because Japan is draining radioacrive water to the sea, that gadget that before doesn't cost so much, sky rocketed.
      Thank yoi for your comment.

I have the Super Takumar f1.9 and I love the rendering of this lens. I have used a UV light to clear most of the yellowing from the front lens. It performs well but does benefit from the use of the metal lens hood.

Thank you for your comment. As my personall choice, I always choose tinted radioactive glass (yellow) , I'm irresistable to that "autumm look" and lens flare. I think will be hard to find a hood and its price. Have fun.
