- An Indian goldsmith smelts gold for making jewellery in India.
Gold is one of the most expensive elements in the world and is well known for its use in jewellery. Old gold jewellery can be recycled by melting it down, making it available for use in other applications. There are several different methods to melt gold and these should be carried out by a professional.
Melting gold should be carried out by qualified personnel that have the necessary safety wear. The gold is placed into a crucible, which is a container that can withstand temperatures above the melting point of gold. Crucibles that are used to melt gold are usually made of graphite. The crucible is placed upon a fireproof surface and a torch is directed at the gold within the crucible. The gold should melt within a few minutes.

Agar 24 kt ke jevar pighlayenge to 24kt he rahega. Bhaisaab ne pahle he bola tha ki ye 24kt gold matlab jo scrap vo pighla rhe the vo 24kt ka tha isliye pakai ki jarurat nhi.
23ct same as 24ct in color what he said towards the end 23ct turns abit black kala is wrong. Once 23ct melts looks exactly same as 24ct 995 is pure gold.
Can any Indians answer my question? I’m curious as to why the gold content is so high - 22K, 23K and 24K - yet in a lot of western countries the gold content is often as low as 10K?

Don't use it, most jewellers with sane mind don't use it anymore. Anyways it has been so rare that you have difficulty finding it. Very dangerous, will cause lung cancer.

If the pure gold jewellery is crafted properly e.g a 8gram ring solid round shape wont bend. i was in the trade so i deal with alot of misconception of this topic. if you make 5grams 24ct then yes it will bend.
