Even though Sabrina's speaking voice/chest voice, in general, is a bit low for a soprano. it still retains that sort of brightness that, say, Dove Cameron would have in her speaking voice. Speaking voice is something that helps to find one's voice/voice type but it isn't the main determinant. Ariana Grande is a great example of this. She probably has the highest tessitura in the industry and her speaking voice is still so f-ing low; the woman literally speaks F3s and F#3s when she's not using a higher placement, something Ari does often to preserve her voice. I doubt those notes are even in her tessitura. So, like you said, it isn't possible to determine whether someone is a light-lyric soprano or any other voice type based on just the speaking voice. I, for one, am a lyric soprano with a slightly lower tessitura but I have the speaking voice of a high mezzo (kind of like Beyoncé's).
My friend Weronika(an opera singer in fact) is a very dark mezzo, akin to Amy Winehouse in timbre, yet her speaking voice is almost childish- so here it's the other way round.
after watching this i think maybe mezzo with high larynx but i could be wrong. i think outside of the clips where she uses a "bright voice" or baby/sweet voice like honest vocal coach called it she sounds basically like a mezzo and she is more comfortable in her lows. but there is also some info in this video i didnt know previously and honestly makes it even more confusing lol but great video and whether shes mezzo soprano or tenor shes one of my favorite singers from this generation
not a mezzo. compare her voice to someone like adele (who shes influenced by). mezzos are lower female voices and sound very womanly and more powerful than any soprano. Sabrina has a girlier sound and significantly higher tessitura. at most shes a warmer/darker voice soprano with developed mid and low registers.
@@JazzAficionado986 Adele is a very dark mezzo, almost like a contralto(in fact, she is often mistaken for one), so she isn't necessarily a good example here.
Sabby just keeps gettin' better and better as she explores the ranges she can go to
Loved the analysis!
