Now newer star players are up for new higher paid contracts on top of existing high value contracts. They need to concentrate on DEFENSE. To allow 48 points in a football playoff game can't be acceptable. Dak and the Cowboys scored 32 points and that would have been enough to win most football games. 48 points, the defense didn't stop anything or anybody. If the Cowboys scored 47 points they still would have lost. That's a lot of points for a pro football team. Could any QB or team could have scored 49 points to win that game? I don't see it.

Smartest long term idea for the Cowboys to do would be what the Packers have done with their Qbs draft Prescott's successor and let him learn for a year, I'd say in the league right now Dak is what it appears Majkowski was for Green Bay (A Good to lower end of great QB(not SB good)) when the Packers traded for third round QB Brett Favr.
No one on Dallas's roster, at this particular time, is going to be their quarterback of the future. They need to trade Dak to get pick options for the draft and get the best qb they can on draft weekend.

In Dak's time with the Cowboys, he's played with 1. The best O-line in the league, 2. A top 3 running back, 3. An elite receiver, 4. A great defense, 5. A Superbowl winning head coach, 6. A veteran presence behind him in the depth chart to challenge and help him grow, 7. A guaranteed contract that offered stability. He has absolutely no excuse for never advancing past the division. At least we could look at Tony Romo and say, "well he was inexperienced" or "His O-line was bad for 5+ years" or "his best receiver was Miles Austin for a time" or "He was old and broken down when he finally had a chance"
I love the fact that Dak Prescott has so many haters. It amazes me how this can even be a discussion when Prescott finished as a second team all pro and he also finished second and MVP voting. I think paying 1 player $60m a year compromises the team as a whole and the fact that he makes these demands proves he doesn’t want to win. The window of opportunity in the NFL these days doesn’t stay open long enough for Dak to play another year in Dallas. He’s had his chances by now, and it’s time to move on to some other team.
Contracts matter as much as talent, Dak has a pretty big hit on a salary cap so his trade value is just not that high. If Dak had 10 million dollar contract, sure teams would be throwing first round picks at the cowboys to get him, but that's not the case. If he gets traded, the cowboys would be lucky to get a 2nd or 3rd round pick.
Come playoff time, Dak always takes the money, get rid of him, and figure out the politics necessary to get another SuperBowl Win :)
