Welcome to Minivan Camper Gal! I'm Kelly and I camp and travel in a Chrysler Pacifica Minivan, doing part-time van life. Here you will find van build videos, tips on the digital nomad lifestyle, general travel vlog videos, and more. I'm into minimalism, and I eat a mostly plant-based vegan diet. I'm still learning how to do vegan vanlife well! I have some great vegan camping recipes to share with you, but would love some suggestions, too! Sometimes I stealth camp in the city, but mostly I like to boondock. Join me and my camper van as we embark on all the car camping adventures!

You are so cute! Thanks for your explanations!
Woohoo, I got the notification today! Excellent review on both products...I never heard of flat-jacks before! Nice👍
Thanks Lisa!
great video.
Thank you! I appreciate the comment!
Those will work well for car camping too!! Great info - tfs!!
Yes, totally! I’m glad it’s helpful for you!
Two very handy items, thanks for the review. 🙂👍
Thanks Lynne!
Great idea, but I'll stick to the blocks instead of forking over $300+.
Yeah, I wish they were cheaper too!
Game changer! Thank you❤
Oh great! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great reviews. I have to admit that your little portable air pump seems to work a lot better than I would've thought a small pump like that could.
I have one question regarding the Flat-Jacks: once you've got the van leveled using the Flat-Jacks, how stable is the van? Since two wheels are sitting on air bags, does the van tend to rock at all? I'm asking before I spend the money to get a couple of these air jacks.
Speaking of which, compared to what we've already spent on our converted Sprinter camper van, the cost of these bags is so "in the noise" that the price of the jacks doesn't even enter into consideration. Just as an example, we spent more on just *one tire* compared to the price of two Flat-Jacks.
In fact, I'm thinking of getting another product from Flat-Jack for when we're not using the van. Flat-Jack sells _vaseline-filled_ pillows for storing vehicles when they're parked. You put a pillow under each tire. The pillows prevents flat spots from forming on the tires, and replace the old method of placing the vehicle on jack stands (which is hard on the suspension).
Yeah, the van does feel a little wobbly when on the air bags. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad with a Sprinter?
Sweet! ill be checking these out.
Cool! I hope you enjoy them!
Wow. That’s awesome. What a perfect set. Thanks for sharing. I’m going to check these out.
Thanks for watching!
thanks for posting this helpful video!
You are turning into my Go-to gal for useful Vanlife products! I can't wait to watch every video you put out to see what you are sharing next. I wonder what the life cycle is on the Flat Jacks? I also wonder if they offer a warranty, and how long it is for? (I couldn't find one on the website.) It will be cool to revisit this in a year or so to see how they have held up. It is nice to see that these have been tested and in use for a long time overseas before coming here. Thanks again for such great recommendations and product reviews.
Hey Alis! Aw, thank you, I’m glad you find my videos helpful! I hope my flat jacks last a really long time! I’m sure it’s really dependent on how much time the spend inflated, how often they bake in the vehicle, etc.
It's a nice idea but so much easier to just toss a couple of Anderson blocks under it. Benefit using Anderson is you can slip the wedge behind it as a choc.
Oh, interesting! I’ve never used Anderson blocks.
NOT when you're in a micro camper... I wouldn't / couldn't use those as a gift with the space I (don't) have
That's actually really cool
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful!
I appreciate all the great ideas you share. I watched one of your videos on safety for solo travelers that is no longer on your list. I wanted to review again now that I have my own van. Can you post that video again or tell me how to access it? Thanks!
Hi Amy! Hm... maybe I have a look-alike! I don't think I've posted a video like that yet, although it is on my to do list!
@@minivancampergal1554 I thought it was you who talked about having a jump starter battery and tire socks and many other good ideas. Sorry for the mistake.
@@minivancampergal1554 I found it. Your Off-roading tips and tricks video has some good safety advice and useful products. Thanks again!
@@amyviggiano2017 Oh, yes! I did do a video on off-roading. ruclips.net/video/rKe4mx1Z7SE/видео.html
Those are cool‼️
Thank you!
You have an NPR broadcaster voice. 😃
Ouch, that was mean .
Thanks!
Haha… I didn’t take it that way, I like NPR voices. 🤓 Thanks for watching out for me though!
What is the smartphone app you use to check for level?
Hi Andy, I just used the measure and level app that comes with apple phones.
Can you use them on both front tyres if needed as you said not to use cross axle?
Yes, you can!
These are cool but i realized most people have a set of 4 adjustable, inflatable bags on their vehicle already... If u have to inflate anyhow, why not just use your tires. They are more durable and take even less space. They will give you 2-4 inches of adjustment ad well. Just deflate the high side. I suppose there is some risk that your pump could break and leave you stranded. Just leave 10 to 20 lbs in the tires to keep beadlock.
Haha! That's a great point! I don't know how that would work, but it might be worth trying!
@@minivancampergal1554 Deflating a couple tires enough to level out a stationary vehicle is a perfect recipe for creating flat spots in the tires. It's also hard on the sidewalls.

You should throw the keyboard in every thumbnail no matter how awkward or out of place it may look.
Haha, that would be awesome, lol. I’m having fun imagining all the crazy thumbnails!
