Have been using this for many months now, and absolutely love it. I actually trimmed it down a little. as I didnt need all the features they provided, and it was a breeze. Works amazingly well for my use case.
how did u clean it
Chris - you make using Windows a pleasure. I genuinely like Windows (been a user since 3.1, before that DOS 6.22 was my OS), but it's been getting worse and worse. Using your tools and tips has made it bearable
Perfect. I really needed this and I also added shortcut to your utility tool straight from my context menu. Thank you :)
I'm happy I'm not the only one with that frustration lol 0:07 😀😀 I mean really, who approves such designs. Don't they do any poll or something ? Thanks Chris, for yet another save.
your script keeps getting better, thank you so much for all the work you've put into it.
But if you update its all gone
@@agnosticmanquestionsall2409 run it again. It’s not hard
Thank you for making your windows tool even better. Thank you for your effort and attention to detail to your fans and followers.
I love the "Directory Opus"
Dig the usability, just wish the GUI was a bit more modern.
Tried this method Chris. Powershell and CTT says all installed but nowhere to be found on my computer. So I went to Nilesoft website and installed from there. It works now. Thanks for the video.
Thanks to your tool and explanations, I could revive my "old" Surface Go, after a fresh install of Win11 and tweaking of things, of course. Now it works way smoother and less battery drain. Thank you and keep it up 😊
The new context menu is really good, only thing missing is entry with 7zip
It might be possible to add that entry.
@@donaldmickunas8552 Same procedure as Brave, as shown in the video, without the args.
Now we play the waiting game.....
Btw, this is how WinRAR author did it: "Overall it is complicated and troublesome. I spent about two months to implement this and still searching for workarounds for some issues."
Windows was perfect during the Windows 7 era. Now they're just changing things for change's sake.
Great option to have instead of the clunky menu !
Right on time with this video! Perfect!
THANK YOU Chris 😊 💓
there is no format option when right clicking on a removable device, or it is just me, can that be fixed somehow?
You're amazing! So freaking useful from one click.
This is the best Gnu Linux advertise I ever watch...
I bet some WinUser are "WTH is this?"
Chris to the rescue yet again. :)
Thanks so much for this Chris. I was losing my mind with the Win 11 default menus.
Now THAT is great!
Ya see. I just restored the Windows 7/8/10 right click menu. It doesn't have Windows 11's nice looking appearance - but it's what I'm way more accustomed to nowadays.
I am one of the seemingly very few who actually like the new right click menu, but this? This is the bees knees!! I can actually customize the menu which is the answer to my dreams. No, for real. Thanks, Chris!
I've been looking for a utility like this. Thank you!
Quick access popup is pretty good too although it doesn't actually replace the context menu but worth checking out
Man thats just Epic i enjoy your Tweaks ....
Thank you Chris you videos make our life easier, Please keep going. Best tech wishes from Greece...:)
thats exactly why i am not switching yet. at least not until LTS are out.
Thanks for what you do 👌
"JUST AWFUL.. EW, GROSS, LOOK AT THAT... COPY *shakes head*, RENAME... JUST, TErRibLe..." lmfao that was beautiful, thank you for the good laugh XD
I was about to ask why you weren't just doing the registry tweak to force the old context menu but I'm glad I kept watching instead.
Neat little utility - works on windows 10 as well!
I installed Shell using your Windows utility on Win 10, and it caused this issue that every time I launched a windows explorer window, it would take up about 20% of my CPU, and the process would keep running after the explorer windows were closed. By opening and closing five or six explorer windows my CPU was pinned to 100%.
Going to give it another try later installing it myself without the utility and see how it goes.
This issue has been fixed in version 1.8 beta
omg, we have the same issue, i never thought that the shell was the culprit
Had same issue, then I followed the advice from @moudey and it worked great. 1.8 beta version fixed the issue for me.
I needed this, thank you!
this is a effin GUT video :D
Your green screen removal is perfect! How do you achieve this? Is it the lights?
Thank you so much for this, it looks cooler and more helpful :D
I can't find the link to the software in the video description or the web page linked to in the description... am I missing something obvious?
Thanks!!! I Love This!
At least they pop up where you'd expect them to -- unlike KDE Plasma.
Thank you for fixing Windows 11
ONCE A TIME AGO SHELLING was a thing.... MODED my whole laptop for LCARS and Matrix once...HOPEING win 11 UPGRADES and bakes that in
Chris, you will know best:
what are the best Windows alternatives for macOS?
e.g.: 7-zip, Nero/CDburner XP, Rufus, Winamp
the current windows context menu is my favorite out of all, adding something on top just seems "bloaty" to me but the beauty of using a computer everyone is different, most of the stuff can be done with keyboard shortcuts anyway.
me too I think it's bloaty, but I still tried installing shell, it changed my mind, shell is amazinggg try it!!!
it's very responsive too!!! than the original
This is awesome. Works in Windows 10 too.
Thank you Chris
Very cool! that looks like a lot better setup like this, and I'll do it when I've had coffee haha
This issa bayutiful Chris. Thx so much🙂
Thanks so much! Been losing my mind with the Win 11 default menus
Thank you!!! Awesome
Dolphin: look what they needed to do a fraction of my power :}
Hi Chris! Very good video as always!! Let me ask you a question... Is it possible to replace with the same kind of software the shell of Microsoft Edge or Chrome with an Addon or Extension?
Thanks in advance! I think the shell of Edge is just even wrost than the one from windows! What you think?
amazing, you can also right click the task bar and it shows many things
Is the website down? It's showing me an HTTP error whenever I visit it.
Thank you!
Thank you! This works very good for me!
Great.going to come back to this if I ever upgrade to windows 11.why rush when my games work perfectly fine on windows 10 right now.
I've been using AutoHotKey for quite a while to make right-mouse click menus... now I can do it here! Thanks!
You hate it, I love it ;)
vi este video y lo que hice fue comprar tu ctt toolbox ... gracias por tantos aportes !!
Literally went into my windows laptop 2hrs after this video dropped and changed these settings and I love it!!
Again a great video, nice job, thanks for share.
Looks very interestig. Does something like that also exists for Win10? Goto would be a nice addition to the workflow.
it works on win 10 too!!
if you ask me the new context menu seems to be touch friendly Probably.
Btw even the old context menu doesn't look like the original old one it seems to be spaced more and looks ugly now.
How do you get the admin powershell without the permission pop-up? Is that a Shell feature?
Disabled uac or something
@@Kolomy24 oh OK. Isn't it weird that you can just ssh back into the machine and get an elevated powershell without the prompt or disabling UAC?
That's because he failed to launch as admin. Shell only shows admin options if you hold Shift before opening it up.
Hey hey, I know I recommended fancywm to you, but there's a better and much less bloaty wm for windows in development that works much better. It's called Komorebi and is open source. It can be installed through Winget and scoop as well.
LUKA TIM
Cool!
wow. really really useful
This is so useful
Update ms-resource:appDisplayName UPDATE Cannot open app package This app package is not supported for installation by App Installer because it uses certain restricted capabilities.
great idea and presentation, pretty usefull and was not aware of that even being possible !
Chapeau !
but:: is there still any chance to use what has been in previous script versions to remove the crappy windows games and bloat ware cause some of my older (laptops) systems have just a 64 GB mmc or ssd as boot drive and they are finally running out of space from time to time if I do not clean them up carefully. Last time I checked the system with treefilesize and found there so many crap I never used or will use but can not get really rid of as I like to. And I think to remember days when you had such scripts that killed all or at least a lot of this stuff.
I have the new box but I could not fiind that or simply missed it for what ever reason. Great channel, great content even though I rarely comment.
Chris, just want to let you know the buttons under CONFIG>Legacy Windows Panels> buttons for network connections, power panel, sound settings, system properties, user accounts are not working anymore under windows 10 22H2
How can we make Microsoft see this, i really believe the context menu should have a settings section to pick the default. I really hate the new one.
Are there arguments to start a programm in an specific display?
Some times, Search box in a Windows folder don't show all files and folders that are equal to search term. Those files are not labeled as hidden, but they not appear as results. Any solution?
thank you
This is very cool.
I wonder if Shell will ever be able to modify the start menu on Windows 11
This is great it's the best of both worlds, only missing this is maybe the blur but I don't care about it that much :P
there is a beta version try it!!!
I miss your Batman shirts. :v
I ran your toolbox, but I got a page full of html code?
Good video.
Thanks.
Hi Chris,
I state that I'm not an expert but I like tinkering ... last time to install oh my posh it took me like 2 hours.
If you could automate this by adding it in your tool would be cool.
how did you hide "Folders" in "This PC"
The original guy and you should be knighted for this!
Installing Shell takes away the "Format" option from the right-click menu when attempting to format a drive on the "This PC" window. I had to reverse the installation to have it back.
hold shift key + right click to enable format
It says Register and Deregister in the Shell program window you showed when you relaunched File Explorer.. what does Shell cost?
Or is that a way of saying Deregister Shell from hooking into Windows 11?
Okay, so where do we actually get it?
Just Add Winaero Tweaker to Your CTT Toolbox Utility - This has Over 200 Plus Tools to Change Windows Settings.
Well, it just goes to show you can't help someone who doesn't want help, lol. I love your videos, and somehow I have missed all your Windows 11 bangers for the last year! I was still under the impression it sucked. People need to stop perpetuating that crap. This, along with your nifty tool, make Windows 11 AWESOME!
can you please tell how to get this working with Files (Open source alternative for windows explorer)? With files its not giving the menu as you've shown here
Hi
Don't mind it how is.
I just use start all back to show all options by default
Please tell us how to defend against reverse shell attacks what it is in depth etcetc
Another good one is ExplorerPatcher. So many options.
The default is awful , total agree
Is there a way to stop explorer grouping things in to recent etc...seems like I change it to a traditional view but it seems to keep going back to that..... I just want one long list to sort by time date name or ext.... I'm too old to change :)
Looks nice But looks like a TERMINAL based ROOT CANAL. Wowser. More pain than I feel like I want.
Windows has layers, like an onion!
