I dont think so. Fundamentally F&H has all the tools to thrive and learn and is designed around being miserable (but in a fun way). Omikron is the product of a very, very sexist/homophobic frenchman deluding himself into thinking ze bad game was a masterpiece of storytelling and design.

It's really the perfect capstone for the entire episode. John's failure to attend a single local FGC event in an entire month, Woolie's suffering in Fear and Hunger, and the madness of of the strip club.
I really don't know if that's true. Like, I haven't experienced either firsthand, but Fear and Hunger seems like a kind of cruelty deliberately crafted, it has the potential to enrich you through its trial. Omikron's blind idocy is wholly ruinous.
Having seen the podcast episode it baffles me how Woolie can be shocked about Eyepatch Wolf beating the game like this out of spite when the entire origin of his career was creating a HxH video out of spite BECAUSE OF WOOLIE'S ACTIONS

Note how every other time they don't mean for the other person to complete something they give the other person a clear cutting off point. John was not given that. He was told "I am recommending you Omikron Nomad Soul" and that's it.
Woolie said afterwards that he didn't expect John to beat it, but that was the implication.
Nothing makes me more mad than knowing that this is the only game David Bowie ever got involved with.

John and Woolie both were made to play horrible games as a result of Versus Wolves.
One was a game built around suffering and misery, which gives an intimate lesson on how the world is full of horror and pain and there is nothing you can do but try to endure, in the hopes that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
And the other game was Fear and Hunger.

It says a lot when something is considered the BAD David Cage game. Omikron was a game so terrible it started John’s villain arc on the podcast. I quote the man himself from the latest episode:

That was you waking up in the middle of the night and me standing over you and whispering, ‘I can get you whenever I want.’ What just happened, Woolie, is I showed you the loaded gun and then I put it to one side. Well, it's not so much a case of being allowed to as much as it's a case of his company being an animation studio for hire and also being one of the only large development studios in France that isn't now a multinational corporation headquartered elsewhere (see ubisoft and infogrames (now wearing the skin of the atari corporation)).
They get the jobs because they make games that look impressive when you aren't playing them, which is exactly what a lot of these companies who hire them want because it makes their brand appear prestigious and that also secures them arts grants from the French government, who are also concerned about prestige.
To Sony, the actual content of Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls was much less important than getting screenshots of those games in magazines and having them featured at trade shows because QD is great at making little animated sequences with no context. If QD made a game that was entirely completely unrelated scenes of people being in peril and having to escape it would probably be pretty good, a bit like that PS1 game from Japan about that family who keep getting in life and death situations for no reason.
It's the sophistry, combined with a refusal to actually think through the implications of the ideas that the games flirt with, that brings them down. When a game takes itself so seriously, whilst not taking the subject matter seriously enough to actually treat it with any responsibility (Detroit: Become Human is the most obvious example. A game about an enslaved class of people which deliberately invokes the iconography of black liberation movements and the holocaust, but ends up with the game wagging its finger at you for being too extreme in your response to a full on genocide because some of the people who owned sapient robotic slaves were nice to them) it's clear that there's a desire to be seen as deep and thoughtful, but no desire to back that up with genuine exploration of the subject matter.
To think there's hundreds and thousands of new video games coming out every week. At least a third of them are 3x better than this piece of shit and they'll never see the light of day.
Woolie burdening John with Omikron was a desperation move. He doesn't want to get 3rd level combo breakered. However, John, you shouldn't have missed your tournament, so take your lumps. But, John, I don't think Woolie has anything more heinous in his deck. To quote Blade and SBFP, 'USE IT!'
You have an advantage on him in terms of content consumption. Woolie has yet to combo breaker you once. You have the advantage. You have shown him that you can get him whenever you want (VW ep 3) and he is scared. You are the Alpha!
Shadow the Hedgehog isn't even the worst video game with Shadow the Hedgehog in it.

I'm so proud of SPW for buying a dreamcast and an original copy of the game to play this, we really need to support David Cage's wonderfull work and show SEGA there is a market for DreamCast 2

No he didn't. Woolie did not specify a cut-off point. Every other recommendation where you didn't have to complete a game, show, movie etc had a stated stopping point. Woolie's was Crow Mauler and he chose to go further as well as choosing to not look up any guides. John was not given a stopping point. Meaning he was at risk of being told he failed if he didn't complete it 100%. Woolie only said afterwards that he didn't intend for John to beat it.

I feel like Omikron being the number 1 worst game Johns ever played, and Shadow the Hedgehog being the 2nd worst, is probably a MASSIVE power gap lol. I think this is the first REAL bad game he's ever played and it left damage.
Shadow the Hedgehog isn't even that bad its like a 4 out of 10 maybe a 3 If your don't like 3d sonic to begin with.
@@alexbrown7708 Shadow The Hedgehog is a "funny to laugh at" type of bad, but it's a completely servicable game to play at the end of the day. The closest pain I can describe Omikron is "playing through The Witcher 1 and its controls willingly if it didn't have good writing to keep you playing".

If people have some nostalgia for it, that's cool, but coming to that game Fresh in 2022 was one of the worst experiences with a game I've had. That game is a disater of poorly thought out movement mechanics jammed together.
I would say though, it's one of the worst games I've "beat" as opposed to "played."

For 3D, Heroes is pretty solid, and out of all the Sonic games, Shadow is comparably AT LEAST interesting, ykno? Like, the fact that there are like 32 endings alone is crazy ambitious and impressive for its time, and even now.

My favorite/hated observation about omikron is that it is only known in most internet zeitgeists, besides being the "bad" cage game, is that it may have broken up a pretty popular LP group in the late 2010s.
I was so excited about this game because of the alleged reincarnation mechanics. I got the demo and immediately threw my character in front of a moving car, only for nothing to happen. Utter lies, the "repossession" mechanic is nothing more than cheap scripted events, the other 95% of the time you either can't die or "get your soul eaten" immediately.

This is so surreal. I haven't seen this game mentioned anywhere for a decade or two.
I bought this game on pc when I was about 14 and thought it was so complex and good that I was just not smart enough to play it right and that's why I keep getting lost. And die.

David Cage games are by default the refuse of the gaming industry. This is their inherent undeniable trait, so it's the base line.

This was literally my favourite game when I was a kid.
I admit it hasn't held up very well, but it was really impressive and ambitious when it first came out. The weakest point is the way they tried to shoehorn in the fighting/shooter genres. But the overall atmosphere and the aesthetic and these large living cities; I had never seen anything like it at the time, and I think the overall vibes of the place still holds up, it's still one of the most creative open worlds I've seen in a game.
There are also a lot of really cool secrets hidden around the cities that you won't see during a normal playthrough.
I got this game for free when David Bowie died. I tried many times to get into it as a fan of both Davids Cage and Bowie, but I could never play the game for more than an hour. Glad to hear I'm not alone.

i loved this game as a kid, everything about it was so cool.
yeah, i mean a lot of it is objectively bad, but there's also really original stuff about it. it's very atmospheric, which was probably easier to appreciate back then. the story gets kinda muddled towards the end, like with pretty much every Cage story, but still, I think the first act on its own was a pretty good time. I especially appreciated the different ways you could overcome obstacles. added some replay value, too.
So disapointed that you didn't buy the Dav Idka'j poetry book in the bookstore at 22:22. That must be a banger XD

This is very true. For the cinema equivalent, if your "worst film ever" is Transformers 2, or Alien 3, or one of the Marvel movies... You cannot yet see the bottom of the barrel, and I implore you to watch After Last Season. I mean a proper watch, giving it your full attention, no distractions (no friends to joke with about it, just you and the film), trying to watch it as a genuine movie. You will be enlightened. It's the unholy trinity; a technical failure on every level, an utterly incomprehensible story, and it's not even fun to watch ironically in the way something like The Room is. It doesn't even have the shock value of something like Zombie 3, there's nothing morally objectionable here, it's just... bad, on every level. This film is my counter-argument to the idea that there is no such thing as objective quality in media.
If you read that and thought "nah, there's no way it's as bad as this random RUclips commenter is making out", good news; you are in the same mental place as everyone I've ever got to watch this film before they saw it. Not a single one has come away disagreeing with me. Please, try to prove me wrong. The film won't disgust you or scare you, there's no nudity or really any violence, it's sfw, but it's also a unique mix of being both very confusing and also terribly, terribly boring. If you do watch it, come back and tell me what you thought.
Watching this was insane, I can't imagine playing it.
