My description is maxed out to the number of characters you are allowed. So I will add this here. I was replying to some of the recent comments while listening to the Cleaning Lady version and these words kept popping into my mind. They refused to leave until I wrote them down. . All your dreams are waiting to come true. They are looking down on you right now as you ponder them. There is nothing they want more than to reach you. That intense, overpowering, impossible to describe feeling is them trying to communicate with you. They want to reach you just as bad as you want them to be reality here. But they will not come without burning desire. Desire that is impossible to express in words. The same desire you would have if someone held you underwater and you were dying. You would struggle with all your might and all your strength to break free of that hold. You would never give up until you broke free or you were dead. Unless you have that same burning desire it just will not work. That intensity, that emotion, that pain is sending a message to your dreams telling them you need them here. Close your eyes every day and visit that special place where your dreams exist. Look around and experience them in fine detail in that other place. Stay in that world for an hour every day. Envision yourself inside your dream. Experience your dream as clearly as if it was reality here. Use your mind's eyes instead of your physical eyes. Your dreams have their own life the very second your thought forms them. They DO exist somewhere else and carry on a life of their own. But they need your help to break through the barrier. Alas, most folks will never grasp this. Until you have that burning, painful, angry, all consuming desire as if you were being held underwater then it will never happen. The intense burning desire for something is what triggers your dream to begin it's journey toward you. That feeling is your dream telling you it is doing it's best to reach you as fast as possible. When you want your dream just as bad as you wanted air when held underwater then it will happen. Maybe not in 1 day or 1 year or even 5 years but I guarantee you one day it will happen. Some dreams are so big they take a little longer. Things will begin to happen that make you pause and wonder. New people and circumstances will strangely come into your life in the most unusual ways imaginable that are meant to advance you toward your dream. That burning desire turns you into a magnet for the things that are required for your dream to break through. . P.S. One week later 7.15.20. Again answering some comments tonight playing Tusk Sara as I type and this old memory I haven't thought of for years kept popping into my head for some reason and wanted to be written down also before it would leave. . Back in 82 or so I started my first business that gave me the freedom I always craved. Around summer 84 I was working my business down in Pacific Palisades by PCH and Sunset Blvd. That day I was walking/bus riding due to my only vehicle was in the shop. Anyhoos, at the end of the day I got tired of waiting for the Sunset bus back into Westwood so I decided to hitchhike. It took about 5 minutes and a sleek black mercedes 450 roadster pulled over. I told him where I was heading and I hopped in. As we drove twisty Sunset back to Westwood we got to talking. He asked me what I was doing out here in this rich ass neighborhood hitchhiking? I told him about my biz and my vehicle and I had just finished working all day. He took it all in, was silent for a moment and then begin to speak. He said he had a PhD in Chemistry and not too long ago he used to live in his van in a parking lot in Malibu. He said it was a simple life and life had thrown him a curve ball. However, he would often drive to the ocean at dusk, park there, and watch the sunset shimmer against the breaking waves. He knew he was a smart man. He knew he did not want to live in his van the rest of his life. He knew the women's cosmetics field was booming at the time. He said he spent the next 6 months in his van coming up with a new line of women's facial and hair care products. He came up with the original formulas in his mind and wrote them all down. He would look at those every day and said he knew it would be a success if he could just make the right connections. Long story short, he ended up meeting the right people, they bought the rights to his formulas, started manufacturing them and that very, very famous product line is still being sold today and he is paid royalties every month. He said he went from his van to his 450 roadster in two years. He told me anyone can do the same thing if they want. They just have to come up with one good idea and roll with it. As we pulled over at my place I got out of the car, shook his hand and thanked him for the ride and the inspirational story. I've never seen him since 84 but that conversation he had with me that afternoon has always stayed with me my entire life. 8.31.20 === This is the version I listened to over and over again since 1980 and this is the version I am listening to right now as I type the following paragraphs. Sara (Live 1980, St. Louis, MO) From the Fleetwood Mac Live Album ruclips.net/video/nop8jW2hiVI/видео.html It's funny you know, I was doing a few daily chores today and this story kept popping into my head and it also requested to be written down before it would leave. So here we go. Written for the 1% of the 1%. You know who you are. I first heard Sara in the fall of 1979. I fell in love with that song the first time I heard it. I can't even describe it. I bought the album on cassette and wore it out. A year later the FM Live album came out. I bought that also on the double cassette and I wore those out multiple times. I recorded Sara from FM Live multiple times on cassette so I did not have to keep rewinding every 7 minutes or so. I would just let the entire 30 minutes play then flip the cassette over. The year was 1980. When I listened to Sara (FM Live version) at work (had a job where I worked alone all night) my mind would wander to where I saw myself and my life heading and to the huge goal I had set for myself. At the time it seemed so at least. It was a business goal and a large financial goal all wrapped up into one big goal. Big, big goal. For someone making $21 hour in 1980 it was a gigantic, seemingly almost impossible goal. It seemed at times almost illogical but I knew what I wanted. Long before Stevie made it big I am sure she would envision herself onstage performing before a crowd of 50,000 screaming fans. Probably since she was around 14 or 15 or so. Most likely even earlier than that. It took Stevie a while to hit her stride. Her dream did not happen overnight or even within a year. It took a few years. To be honest, more than a decade. For her big dream, multiple decades. In 1975 Stevie turned 27 while achieving worldwide success with the album Fleetwood Mac. From Wiki: Nicks's mother was protective, keeping her at home "more than most people" and fostered in her daughter a love of fairy tales. Stevie had an overwhelming burning desire inner dream and so did I. I thought about my dream every day. I dreamed at night about it. I wrote down with a pen and paper every single day, 100 times, a simple 6 word sentence as if my dream was now a current reality. My thumb and middle finger developed small calluses due to my pen over the years. I can still feel a bit of them today 40 years later. Stevie's big dream came rather quickly. It took Stevie another 10 years after 1975 for her bigger dreams to come true. It has been a lifelong process for her. My big dream did not happen so fast. It took 40 years to arrive. But I knew it would come. I felt it every single day for 40 years. As I mentioned earlier my dream was business and financial related. I love to travel and I love the freedom that owning a business or several businesses gives you. It's not for everyone but since I was 3 or 4 I knew exactly how I wanted to live my life. I always wanted to march to the beat of my own drummer. Well, it took 40 years for that dream of mine to show up. It's a long time right? How many would have given up earlier? How many could exist for 40 years with that dream haunting their minds every single day? My dream was so big I had no idea how it would happen or even how I could make it happen. All I knew for 40 years was that my dream could happen and it would happen and it was already real somewhere but just not yet in this realm. Here is the whole point I have been leading up to for all you 1% of the 1%. Even though that business and financial goal dream took 40 years to finally arrive, it took just 7 more months after that arrival to double. In other words what took 40 years to arrive, only took another 7 months to do the same exact thing I was dreaming about for 40 years! Don't ask me how. I don't know how it works, but I do know it does work. And in the most mysterious ways you can ever imagine. “May you always know the power and beauty of imagination” --- Christine Brooks “The power of imagination makes us infinite.” --- John Muir “There is such a place as fairyland - but only children can find the way to it. And they do not know that it is fairyland until they have grown so old that they forget the way. Only a few, who remain children at heart, can ever find that fair, lost path again; and blessed are they above mortals. They, and only they, can bring us tidings from that dear country where we once sojourned and from which we must evermore be exiles. The world calls them its singers and poets and artists and story-tellers; but they are just people who have never forgotten the way to fairyland.” --- L.M. Montgomery, The Story Girl
In the late 80s I was a security officer for a hotel on the big Island of Hawaii. One evening I was made aware Stevie and some of the band were in the hotel having dinner. Having been a big fan of hers and the band I hoped to at least see her. Later that evening I was making my rounds around the hotel parking area when a small van approached me , as it got closer the front passenger window was being rolled down, as it came to a stop next to me there was Stevie smiling at me. My heart was in my throat, there she was. all she wanted to say to me was hello and wished me a safe and pleasant evening, I said thank you very much and you too. She smiled and said bye. What a special memory for me to have of her. To me it says a lot about her and the others that they stopped and didn't just ignore me and drive past. This song is my favorite of hers and I have played it so many times before and since she stopped and said hello to me. I still see her in my minds eye when ever I listen to her sing this song. So special.
Yo Ebstine ! Martin Palacios Payaso never walked from or jogged from The Southside to San Fernando . He was on the Street at wears house . Side street where Chachi is buried , blocks from where Joe Richard Santos was shot at " Wendy's and Frankie's " Quick I'd the name which in Jail went by" Joe Hernandez "
When I was a young girl, I was introduced to FM. I instantly fell in love with Stevie. I vowed that if I had a daughter I would name her Sara because of this song. In 2003, I was blessed with the most beautiful baby girl. Her name is Sara Grace. She is the love of my life ❤️
I’m a 48 year old long haul truck driver and I’ve listened to this song more times than I can say, with the windows down, through the desert or the plains or back east. Wherever I am when I hear it I cry
You are human first. Prob a dad of a daughter or maybe 5! I have a daughter 10 and son 8 & my custody battle has been 2 years long in court. All a mess. Stay that superstar to your girls. Its in you & drive safe
Oh Men. Im crying reading to your comment. Im not a truck driver but kind of. I did 10000 trip with my friend in car day or night. With only one reason to get outside. Take the car, Drive, open the Windows and listen to fleetWood mac, America... Im not a truck driver and i probably live thoushand miles from you but im sure were very close
my cat died on my lap on the way to the vet while this song was playing. my favorite song that randomly came on shuffle. it truly is a magical song for me now and I’m so lucky to have drowned in the sea of love of that little rescue tuxedo cat who I got to love from his age 3-10. Best seven years of my life. Rip Cooper. Mommy loves you so much and misses you everyday
I saw Fleetwood Mac in Japan while stationed there in the Navy 1978-1980... After military service I attended college in N.C...and saw Stevie on her Wild Heart Tour July 10, 1983 in the Greensboro Coliseum... During an encore, she bent forward to accept a single white rose from me...That moment in time seemed to last ten minutes and is forever embedded in my mind...
True but stevie had great range and could be loud too, she used to sing in whistle register in early gold dust woman lives and had a very powerful voice
@@nomadic1932 She didn't have great range, not even close. It's her poor range that kept their songs so simple and repetitive, 2 or 3 chords over and over. This version of this song is about 8 minutes too long, I stopped it at 8:35, it was getting painful.
This is my most favorite Stevie Nicks Song I Had a friend in high school her name was Sara she was a beautiful girl I actually had a crush on her she tragically Died in a car accident when she was 16 many many moons ago Every time I hear this song I think of Sara I am sure she is A beautiful angel enjoying the afterlife.
@spirals 73 you are so right.AND SO AM I.Its not my fault she wrote it about her aborted child. If you have a problem with truth, well,I guess you fit right in to the world today because most people have an issue handling truth.
Same here. I had a crush too on a Sara in high school. If I close my eyes it's as if she is sitting next to me right now. She passed away too young in her early 20's from cancer. As I write this it seems that for a moment in time I am transported back to when I was 16 years old to be allowed to relive a moment again.
"Drowning in the sea of love.....where everyone would love to drown." One of the finest lines in contemporary music......made even finer when sung by the utterly beautiful and mesmerising voice of its composer.
This song knocks my soul to its knees. Every single time I listen to it. I’m an old man now, but Stevie has been in my mind, my heart, and my soul for the last 50 years. Thank God.
@@ponchoman49 Yes what the hell happened? SEEMS like yesterday I was just enjoying a cool drink at one of the many clubs where everyone seemed to be friends. Memories of this time in my life are my only salvation from the shit show we endure now!
RIP Christine McVie. I can't believe the news I heard today. Thanks so much for your music. You will never know how much inspiration I took from your music. 👼🎹
Wow what a gorgeous rendition of Sara. I love Stevie Nicks so much. What an interesting tone of voice and vibrato... she’s like an angelic baby lamb ❣️🙏💥
Me too. It was Mom's cleaning house music. I had that album memorized. I had tickets for my mom and I to see Stevie Nicks in concert, unfortunately my mother was too ill. I played Landslide at my mom's funeral. I don't know what Stevie's religion is, but I hope her voice is in heaven.
She was so adorable and has that "IT" factor, just like the rest of the band. Not only is her voice and lyrics haunting, but Lyndsey's music is always perfect to set the mood to a song. They're all musical geniuses in that band.
@@aethermaster3238 Yes, Sara is on Tusk but not a 16 minute version. I've heard so many rumors about the 16 minute version over the years. That it was the original Sara that Stevie wrote that contained many more verses but for whatever reasons was never released to the public. Some say Stevie keeps the recording locked away and others say some versions have been released to her close friends.
@@LaVidaLocaHomie interesting... I only heard rumors of 16min version with extra lyrics. I guess it's out there. I'm subbed so if u ever come across it, please share it. Would love to hear these extra verses. Stevie is mysterious and a genius. If she did this with this track, imagine she could have done it with other tracks.
Loved Stevie Nicks singing over many years .was thrilled to see her live in Palm Springs in January on my trip from Ireland .She sounds just as good Live .At my age (84) it was a memorable trip and experience.
Oh my goodness, Ireland is one of the places I have always dreamed of visiting since I was a wee one. Dublin, the west coast and the northern coast. Glad you enjoyed your visit to Palm Springs. January was a good month. In August it is a furnace there.
I dated a gal who was a very close friend of Stevie's back in 79-80. Stevie was very involved at the time with Don Henley. She was in a hotel suite with him and a piano and a cassette recorder testing out several songs (some never officially recorded) one of which was a version of Leather and Lace with Don and just an acoustic guitar. It was unbelievably intimate and far superior to the album version. She gave the cassette to my gal friend who gave it to me. I still have it and only perhaps 3 people ever heard the amazing sounds on it. So I can relate to rare.
Literally my favorite song of all time. The original release, at the end when she hauntingly sings, “All I ever wanted… Was to know you were dreaming… “ Those are her words - her feelings, describing the tragic loss she endured… losing her baby. 😥 Beautiful song with so much emotion from her.
check out the live version from melbourne australia from the tusk tour. that line is AMAZING in that version. "all i ever wanted was to know that you were dreaming, Sara"
She was and still is one of the most stunningly beautiful ladies in the world, her voice cannot be touched, followed her and Fleetwood Mac since the start, mesmorised.
For me is the most beautiful woman! Not only her, but her voice!! Whenever I feel depressed I just play her music...her voice is calms me down, I clean houses like she use to do, I wish I could clean hers some day!!! Love you Stieve!❤❤❤❤
There are those unable to gaze at a master's painting for hours in quiet inward reflection. To study the strokes, the use of colors and shadows, to envision what was going on in his or her mind while composing.
Boy can I relate as to this song being haunting and compelling and there is just something about it that draws me right in and takes me back to a simpler better time.
Whatever it is about this song that captivates people, there is no question that its effects are powerful. It is one of my favourites among many by this incredible group.
Heard this song in the late 70's while in college. I could never forget it. It is incredible. Haunting. I can listen to this everyday. She is an amazing song writer and singer.
Yes true art will never die even after the artist passes on,but Stevie keeps pushing on....like the lovely Welsh Witch.....love you,my inspirational poet songstress fashionista ........yes I loved the butterfly emojis. She's like a butterfly to me,to me as well. Free,& gorgeous & rare.
The Year 1977, i was a soldier and lost my Girlfriends. In this Time, i buy the LP "Rumours". My Girl don't come back, but i had my old Fleetwood Mac LP and i love it. When i play it by a Glas with red wine, i think for the best time in my live with my nice Girl. The Voice of Stevie Nicks and Feetwood Mac are so great for Heart Times 💞
Love this version thank you .. there is a live in concert version (1983) where she sings Sara so soft and keeps the vibrato going .. it was hauntingly perfect.
Just recently discovered Stevie? Oh my, you have missed so much. I have been listening to her since 1973. So, let me share a very rare jewel. Stevie's FIRST album PRE-Fleetwood Mac. ruclips.net/video/E1kHeix-55c/видео.html&ab_channel=M%C3%BAsicaLivre
Many people say a certain band is the best to them. But ever since 1975 my favorite bands have always been and will always be FM and the Eagles. I was just a kid (22) then and then and now I sing all their songs with them when I hear/ heard them. Saw both bands in KC in 1975 that was an unbelievable concert. Then just FM in Denver in 1982 I believe. Something about them. Incredible talent. Melodies and words capturing all emotions and dispensing it to the world. Im 71 now but I guess I’m still that 22 year old girl with platform shoes and tight jeans and rocking out to my two favorites, the Greatest Bands ever.
ruclips.net/video/LO6uTKt5QyM/видео.html The Eagles_Peaceful Easy Feeling_Live 1974 HD --- Let's hop in the time machine and go back to the summer of 1974. The landing spot, on a Harley late in the afternoon on a lonely North Texas 2 lane highway. The song playing in your mind, Peaceful Easy Feeling. Miles ahead of you and miles behind you that day. Your engine lopes along at 75 while all around you is nothing but farmland and cows. Then all of a sudden you notice someone walking next to the highway about 100 feet from the road. You slow down for a moment, glance over at the stranger for a moment, then keep on going since the stranger took no notice of you. As you accelerate away you ponder for a while what exactly is a person doing in the middle of nowhere walking all alone. The image sears forever into your mind and even 50 years later you recall it as if it happened yesterday and ponder 50 years later who was that person and what was he doing that day walking all alone in the middle of nowhere. The entire memory seared with the song Peaceful Easy Feeling playing with the thunder of two Harley twin cylinders reverberating in your mind. I still ride motorcycles and inside my mind I swear I'm barely a day over 19 but somehow my driver's license and the mirror beg to differ. But the driver's license and the mirror only reflect the temporary spacesuit I put on to visit this particular time and space, they do not reflect my soul. Peaceful Easy Feeling reflects my soul. What is it about tight windowpane jeans, loose revealing halter tops and long hair past the thighs that stirs up memories of a past that seem so real today that you could almost reach out and touch them with your hands. Memories forever etched in a mind that seems it is from another time and place. A time and place that once was but will never again be. December 1976 - The Eagles Hotel California is released. I can still remember exactly what I was doing, the name of my GF, what car I was driving, where I was and who I was with when I heard this song for the very first time. If I close my eyes it seems like only a year or two ago. BTW, one evening a long time ago in 1976 Dallas a group of us had just got off work around 3am and we were on the way to the old bowling alley near Love Field. As we pull up to a light "Flash" (our asst. manager) points out a "working girl" and says look at her shoes. Inside her platforms were live goldfish !!
I found Stevie in 1981, and knew this woman is someone I wanted for an older sister! I was 18, she was 33....now we are 60 and 75, and my life is richer because of her. I love not only her, but her family, her dad was the best, always provided for the family, and mom was the best in raising Stevie and Chris. Oh how I wish I could have met her parents, I'm a total supporter for family, and hers was wonderful. I will love Stevie for all Eternity...
I have been a fan of Stevie and Fleetwood Mac for over five decades. Fleetwood Mac are up there with the GREATEST EVER. Old fellow now...........BUT I have been BLESSED to experience so much great music in my time on this planet. Stevie has a SPECIAL talent! 🤔🇬🇧
My allo time favorte song by Ms. Nicks. I dont' care if this song is 24 hours long, I can listen to it for hours, days, and weeks. Her vocals and lyrics hypnotize me.
Stevie hit most of us when she sang in the beginning of Fleetwood Mac. She wrote so many great songs. Her voice and story telling is so great. She is so beautiful to boot. Love her fashion. I love that she seems like a very nice person. She gets it and she is "it".
hi Cindi. The beginning of Fleetwood Mac was long before Stevie Nicks joined. There are several iterations of FM - the common element being the superb rhythm section - Mick Fleetwood and John McVie (Mac). They were formed in London by the great guitarist and vocalist Peter Green in the late 60s as an all male blues band. Green wrote the song Black Magic Woman which Santana made famous. Then a coupla years later, Green left and Christine McVie (John's wife) joined, ushering in a totally new and lovely sound. Christine's beautiful compositions, piano and voice created hits like Say You Love Me. Then Bob Welch joined, becoming lead singer and guitarist contributing hits like Sentimental Lady. Bob moved the band from London to LA, then left to go solo... and that's when Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham joined ushering in the most successful stage of this storied band.
I like to think that Stevie uses a pen name while traversing YT and somewhere mixed amongst all these comments she may have left her footprint but certainly has left her kind thoughts about all her fans and all the lives she has touched.
I am 61 now. It can be hard for me to listen to Sara for the simple reason it came out soooo long ago and soooo much time has passed. Trying to get my brain around that fact sometimes is very, very daunting since I can remember certain things as if they were yesterday. One of those things is this song. It came out when I was in High School and my mom was leaving Las Vegas where we were living, I was graduating High School and had no idea what I was gonna do. My next door neighbor was a pot head. He gave me a joint (my very first one of only maybe a whole 7 or 8 in my entire life) and one of the few things left in the apartment was a stereo. I smoked that joint, put on the stereo, laid on the floor, put the speakers next to each ear with my head on a pillow. And SARA came on just BLEW MY MIND!!! LOL! It was as if I was transported away. It was so ethereal, so mystical and so MAJESTIC! It is by far my favorite Stevie song (with Silver Spring and Landslide right behind it!) I went on to join the Air Force and am fortunate to still chat with a close friend after 42 years! And he and I love, love, love Stevie! We pour over all of hers and Fleetwood Mac songs and even try to imagine being in the studio with them when they recorded songs like "The Chain" with all of that emotional baggage getting put into such a classic song! It's great that someone took the time to put the long long version on! Although I have been told there is a 16 minute demo of this out there too! (Is that the famous "I don't want to be a cleaning lady" one??) Love to all who still listen and admire this great work from her!!
Thanks for your memories John. Does the same to me. I can put it on and new memories long forgotten flood to the surface. I'm not sure if it's the Cleaning Lady version or not. No one except a few have ever heard the 16 minute version. The story goes Stevie has it (16 minute version) locked away in her private collection. Some say it was floating around the net 20 years ago but I have yet to run across it. Still looking for it. It's like a lifelong search for El Dorado.
I'm 61 too and I get what you mean about it being hard to listen to songs from our youth. It just reminds you that so much of your life has gone but every day is a new adventure and you should look forward to each and every one. Stevie has always been a constant in my life and at 75 and still totally amazing she is a true inspiration. I had major spinal surgery when I was 17 and was in a full body cast for a year. I could only wear baggy dresses and someone gave me a long black cheeaecloth gipsy dress whuch I loved and it was the one thing that made me feel feminine so I topped it with a long black lace shawl and that was the style I adopted for the rest of my life. When I first saw Stevie Nicks I was totally captivated as I saw a lot of me in her and felt she was a kindred spirit. Sadly never seen her live though. 😢
@@anjizetland-von-kiesel3346 So sorry you never saw her live! I was fortunate that I saw her three times (all solo, not with Fleetwood). I was disappointed she did not play Sara (gosh knows I was screaming it!). On one of the shows, it was in Tucson, late 80's and it was a small venue (I think it was between albums and her and Fleetwood were kinda growing apart and not as famous?) and I got 2nd row seats! Well, she does "Edge of 17" and in the middle of the guitar solo, she goes to the front of the stage to shake/touch peoples hands. There was a huge push and I tried with all my strength to get to that stage but kept getting shunted to the right. As she went from the left to right she's touching everyone's hands and I kept pushing up. Just when I thought she would leave she went a few feet more and I managed to get my hand up and she touched it! So that was my "brush" with Stevie Nicks! I was on cloud nine for DAYS!! LOL!!
@@johngreener9784 I live in the UK so she hasn't toured as much here as in the US and any time FM have played in the UK I havs never been able to go for some reason. I always wanted to aee FM with the Rumours line up but sadly that will never happen now. You are one lucky guy. I bet you didn't wash your hand for weeks. LOL
Music is powerful. Some of my earliest embedded memories date back to when I was 3 years old and seem to be associated with certain songs that were playing on the radio rotation at the time. When I hear them there is instant time transport.
I agree. When I am alone I can close my eyes, go back in time to the month and year of the song and relive so many details of my life at that time. In my mind it is so real, in fact it's so real it seems more real than the physical reality I live in daily. It's like my own time machine. I learned self hypnosis as a child and the state is similar to a deep hypnosis state where you can remember and see details you forgot years and years ago.
When I was around 2 years old, my mom said I cried every time she played "Mrs Jones" and as an adult I can't figure out why the song affected me so much. I get a sad "vibe" every time I hear this song too. Music is more powerful than we'd like to think for sure.

I stumbled across this conversation with Sara Recor. www.songfacts.com/facts/fleetwood-mac/sara Sara from Pasadena (sierra Madre), Ca It is a very special song. Most of you are pretty close, but no one has guessed who "HE was singing...and undoing the laces, undoing the laces" is. Tip...He's a songwriter of the highest quality, sings like an angel and works with only the best. I remember what every line meant to her and how it's evolved throughout the years.Sara Fleetwood, Ca. Sara from Pasadena, Ca Well, here goes. Yes this song is about oh so many things! My second job after high school in 1971 was at a dept store called the May Company. My boss of toys, sporting goods and luggage was a guy 8 years older than me but we had the same birthday, Oct. 2. His name... Jim Recor, and he had grown up with his bff, Kenny Loggins (House at Pooh Corner" for Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) in San Gabriel, Cal. Kenny was just forming a bad with Jimmy Messina (Poco,Buffalo Springfield). Well Jim Recor and I began falling crazy in love! J.Recor had a degree in business Mgnt and being Kenny's bff, the asked him to quit the dept store and road manage L + M on their first tour. Headliners included Jessie Collin Young, Linda Rondhasdt and yes...Superfly himself, Curtis Mayfield! At the Troubadour. I was 17, my father a strict school teacher at Pasadena High School, and he was not amused at the thought of me going to HOLLYWOOD, hanging out with...MUSICIANS and being 17. There you have the inspiration for a song written for my parents, "Your Mama Don't Dance". So I turn 18 and get married and moved to Lincoln Heights, the barrio, and Dad took a while to come around! I stayed in school and worked and by then L+M were touring with a band opening up for them that had this funny little chick singer that would twirl n around and around. This was F.M. touring their F.M. F.M. album L + M's opening act was Fleetwood Mac! We all thought they were a little crazy!!! So it's 1975ish Time marches on, I begin modeling for Mary Webb Davis in L.A. Kenny Loggins goes solo and now opens for Fleetwood Mac. Jim Recor and Stevie had spent considerable time together. The night after I finished a gig for Hang Ten swimwear, I head for the Forum and right before she goes onstage for the biggest L.A. venue, the Forum for the Rumours tour...Jim introduces us and even in her platforms, I'm towering above her. She just STARES at me and says nothing. I pat her on the head and say "Oh Hi!!! Yes, you're Jim's lil road pal!!! Which is what he had said. So off she goes to climb the stage stairs and start the show. I had impeccable stage manners and f.m.'s road mger sits me right at the side and center of the stage...kinda waving when she's look my way. A few days later I leave for NYC to start an agency for Johnny Casablanca called "Elite". So both bands are touring together, I'm to meet Jim at the Park Lane but he doesn't show up to the lobby until it was light out. Stevie, Kenny, Jim had been recording " Whenever I Call You Friend". Hmmmm I'm thinking. I'm going to stop for a while...see if you guys wanna here more...as a tease, the song "What a Fool Believes" and it's story would be coming up soon, besides "Sara" I can only see one line at a time so I hope it's not one run on sentence. Let me know if you would like to hear more. I'll keep checking! Sara Lynn Jones Recor Fleetwood (Burton, Hilton, Fisher.... kidding!). XXX Sara from Pasadena, Ca Oh and BTW...sorry but there's no lesbian stuff...ahhh...but the singer undoing her espadrille shoe laces was the incredible voice of "When You're Only Lonely" and many more beautiful songs...Mr John David Souther!!!" This better pass the polygraph test as it's all true! And I'm not even 1/2 wat thru! XXX Sar J.D. Souther - When You're Only Lonely ruclips.net/video/C88eKv-uphM/видео.html Sara Fleetwood from Not In Pasadena Tonight Hi. I’m back. Well I swore to God I’d never tell the miscarriage part but now it’s out because Stevie decided it was time. There are so many protagonist in the song, my first husband Jim as well. I remember sitting with her quietly as she would write. She liked having someone there. I asked “how do you do this? It seems like you channel some writing muse and it magically comes together”. That’s how it goes. There are loves and scenarios...it comes so naturally to her...like one would wish they had such an ability in a poetry class. Now I’m older (too haha) I realize I witnessed something very special. Not just Sara but so much more. It isn’t easy on stage because the brushes ...it’s hard to end it with a bang so it’s hard to place in a set list. But the brushes played with the important original tack piano Stevie plays with the big vocals are beautiful. She gave me her original Red Onion waitress shoes she wore to work and they were stolen. I don’t wanna be a cleaning lady...I wanna be a star. She’s so funny. Adorable! Love seeing North Carolina here! I have family in Goldsboro! Yes. I was a bad girl to the person who said that. We were all really naughty to put it mildly. Made for some great music. Can’t believe it’s alive and well! Stevie is Golden. For realz.
It's " the Heartbeat that Never Really Dies" ! I too have been "haunted' by this Most Beautiful masterpiece since 1979, I turned on the radio.... and there it was played. Immediately, I bought the 2 record set of "Tusk". I still listen to "Sara" and I still "Dream when the Winds are Crazy and reach out to touch Me ! (like now with this Covid-19 pandemic). It has that effect. I'd love to explain it but there are no words in English available. In other words, Sara is so far beyond ordinary words that it is impossible to compress the melody and the lyrics down into mere words. It becomes alive deep within when you feel it.
Same story as me as well. 5 years now for me being crippled at age 47. She and the whole original band is therapy for me. Never got to see a show though

I'm a 72-year-old woman & I've loved Fleetwood Mac for a very long time. I'd like to say Stevie is an elegant woman & I might even say "sexy." She's got style, panache, & beauty. I've read some of the comments here & I feel the same way.
As she ages, she has a look of Carrie Fisher. It's something about the eyes and nose. I just noticed it today while listening to something--maybe this--and seeing one picture in a montage of many. It was the only current image in a large number of younger photos.
Must be the greatest female voice of all time. Listen to her songs more than any other artist and that's over 50 years . Don't make them like that anymore
I googled the lyrics and meaning of this song. According to Stevie Nicks herself, she wrote it on the piano at night and the original version was 16 minutes long. She said, by the time they whittled it down to 4:40 minutes she wondered if the name “Sara” was still going to be in it. :) She obviously had a sense of humor about it even though the song is very deep and about “everything that was going on in their lives at the time... Mac’s affair with Nick’s best friend Sara, the baby that Nick’s named Sara though, sadly, she aborted it. I think that’s represented by the strong beat throughout. Such a loss but she didn’t let it destroy her.

This is the version I listened to over and over again since 1980 and this is the version I am listening to right now as I type the following paragraphs.
Sara (Live 1980, St. Louis, MO) From the Fleetwood Mac Live Album
ruclips.net/video/nop8jW2hiVI/видео.html
It's funny you know, I was doing a few daily chores today and this story kept popping into my head and it also requested to be written down before it would leave.
From Wiki:
Nicks's mother was protective, keeping her at home "more than most people" and fostered in her daughter a love of fairy tales.
“May you always know the power and beauty of imagination”
--- Christine Brooks
“The power of imagination makes us infinite.”
--- John Muir
“There is such a place as fairyland - but only children can find the way to it. The world calls them its singers and poets and artists and story-tellers; but they are just people who have never forgotten the way to fairyland.”

LaVidaLocaHomie unbelievably poetic!!
So special.

Too much credit given to people who can sing loud. This is a real voice, full of character.

Stevie Nicks an ageless beauty!
Agreed 🌹
I havent heard this before. PROOF she is a phenomenal songwriter with a hypnotizing voice. Couldn't love her more.
Boy can I relate as to this song being haunting and compelling and there is just something about it that draws me right in and takes me back to a simpler better time.
It doesn't get any better than this...
Thank you, Stevie for providing my life's soundtrack.
What a tune, brilliant vocals by Stevie as per usual! 11 minutes of pure bliss XX
Whatever it is about this song that captivates people, there is no question that its effects are powerful.
It is one of my favourites among many by this incredible group.

Stevie wrote this song about her unborn child, who she called Sara

Heard this song in the late 70's while in college. I could never forget it. It is incredible. Haunting. I can listen to this everyday. She is an amazing song writer and singer.
God broke the mold after creating Stevie.
Love you so much
Would very much love to meet her

One of the most stunning most beautiful women in the world Stevie Nicks is simply perfect and her voice was just as beautiful as she is
Totally and utterly agree. Remarkable.
You got that right!
And then some, my 70s heartthrob. Her music is still so current and just the best voice ever.
Stevie was sexy AF back in the day!
Oh how wonderful to have heard this and be swept up again by Stevie as I always do...😍
Three live performances I’ll never forget: Stevie Nicks, Annie Lennox and Linda Ronstadt 😎👏👏👏🥂
Annie playing Here comes the rain Again at 50% speed. Magical.
Three of the best ever. Did they ever perform together? That would have been magical.
This song always makes me feel better when I feel sad . Beautiful gift to this world . Thankyou .😍😍😍😍😍🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋

Stevie was the generational voice. One that oversteps the normal. Truly GOLDEN
Is that 83 live concert version on YT?
LaVidaLocaHomie the music is via the concert no film of it.. but I can’t remember what one. I have it saved to my favs I’m sure.

Of course you are! Stevie is the one that you can relate to and dream about...Welcome to the wonderful world of Stevie Nicks...

Stevie will always be a beautiful ethereal woman! Loved this version!

My allo time favorte song by Ms. Nicks. I dont' care if this song is 24 hours long, I can listen to it for hours, days, and weeks. Her vocals and lyrics hypnotize me.
Logically
Exactly!
Millions of hours. No problem!!!
Stevie hit most of us when she sang in the beginning of Fleetwood Mac. She wrote so many great songs. Her voice and story telling is so great. She is so beautiful to boot. Love her fashion. I love that she seems like a very nice person. She gets it and she is "it".
The "it" girl !!
Stevie Nicks always makes me smile just hearing her name. I love this long version of Sara. Thank you!
Stevie is definitely the poet in our hearts...
people that listen to this song : may it live in your hearts forever !!!!
When she reads all these amazing comments, it must make her cry with happiness she has given us all.
LOL
A prime example of what real music was.
@@LaVidaLocaHomie Almost like the music is a soundtrack to your specific time capsule of you!
When I was around 2 years old, my mom said I cried every time she played "Mrs Jones" and as an adult I can't figure out why the song affected me so much. I get a sad "vibe" every time I hear this song too.
Music is more powerful than we'd like to think for sure.

Well, here goes.
So it's 1975ish
Time marches on, I begin modeling for Mary Webb Davis in L.A.
I'm going to stop for a while...see if you guys wanna here more...as a tease, the song "What a Fool Believes" and it's story would be coming up soon, besides "Sara"
I can only see one line at a time so I hope it's not one run on sentence. Let me know if you would like to hear more. I'll keep checking!

Sara Fleetwood from Not In Pasadena Tonight
Hi. For realz.

Sara has been bringing me to tears for decades. How is that possible?
It has that effect. I'd love to explain it but there are no words in English available. In other words, Sara is so far beyond ordinary words that it is impossible to compress the melody and the lyrics down into mere words. It becomes alive deep within when you feel it.

Stevie, you should have played Princess Leia in star wars!
As she ages, she has a look of Carrie Fisher. It's something about the eyes and nose. I just noticed it today while listening to something--maybe this--and seeing one picture in a montage of many. It was the only current image in a large number of younger photos.
After reading your comment & thinking on it, I can actually see that in my minds eye. Good image, especially considering how she looked in 75'/77'.

*beat ... sorry for the typos.
